J. Colback 90'+
Full-time and, somehow, it's 2-2 at the Cardiff City Stadium! Cardiff have committed the cardinal sin of not killing a game off that was theirs for the taking here. They dropped deeper and deeper during the last few minutes and paid the price after Jack Colback's late equaliser for Sunderland. A point does nothing for either side but credit to the Black Cats for a strong finish to an otherwise poor game for them. Vincent Tan left the stands as soon as he could. So did thousands of Cardiff fans.
FULL-TIME: Cardiff 2-2 Sunderland

Assist Valentin Roberge

Goal Jack Colback
90' + 5'
GOALLLL!!!! Sunderland equalise!!! The poor defending has cost Cardiff! Jack Colback scores the unlikeliest of equalisers for the Black Cats and Cardiff have committed the ultimate sin by letting this one slip...
90' + 4'
Gary Medel now produces a key block before Giaccherini shoots just wide! Poor defending is almost letting the Black Cats through...
90' + 3'
You can feel the anxiety in the crowd - but have Sunderland left their comeback too late?
90' + 1'
WHAT A SAVE! Roberge plays a flying volley from distance but Marshall is there to deny Sunderland yet again!
There will be FIVE minutes of added time, no less!
Is a dramatic equaliser on the cards? A point would do neither side that much good - but it would certainly be better than a defeat for the visitors!
Anxious moments for Cardiff now, though, as the Black Cats advance as often as they can, with the Bluebirds falling deeper and deeper.
No sign of an equaliser just yet but Sunderland have put themselves in the perfect position to score one...
Assist Emanuele Giaccherini
Goal Steven Fletcher
Ben Turner was at fault for that goal. But will Cardiff regret it?
GOAL! Finally we have life in Sunderland! Steven Fletcher tucks the ball home for the visitors! Emanuele Giaccherini it was who picked the ball up in midfield and sent a superb ball to the Black Cats striker. Game on?
Sunderland look as though they are too but, 2-0 down, that isn't acceptable in the Premier League.
Aron Einar Gunnarsson
Both sides exchange passes in midfield here but you have to feel that Cardiff are playing at well below 100 per cent.
The Black Cats have been similarly disappointing up front all game. The only striker to offer anything dangerous was Fabio Borini, though he came off earlier and has reportedly been taken to hospital with illness. We wish him well.
A quarter of an hour remains and there seems to be very little hope for Sunderland. Ki and Giaccherini attempt to string a few passes together and Altidore ends the move by heading way wide of goal.
The home side are hunting a third, here. It would help their goal difference enormously. Meanwhile, Lee Cattermole makes way for Jack Colback.
Corner to Cardiff now as Bardsley can't keep the ball in play!
Craig Noone's day is over! The 21-year-old is replaced by Don Cowie and the Cardiff fans show their appreciation for his strong contribution.
Yellow Card Fraizer Campbell
It looks like the Black Cats will remain bottom of the Premier League, with Cardiff moving up to 14th.
No joy for Sunderland thus far...
SAVE! Ki Sung-Yueng has a shot for Sunderland, though it is well held by Marshall. Can Poyet's side find their way back into this?
The corner is cleared but Cattermole finds himself in space and plays it straight back at goal! Just over.
An attacking free kick for Sunderland now, though, as they look to get back into this one. It's headed straight out for a corner. What can they do from this one?
Yellow Card Phil Bardsley
Is it all over for Poyet's men? Cardiff have picked up some great wins at home this season and this could be another.
Yellow Card Bo-Kyung Kim
Assist Jordon Mutch
Goal Fraizer Campbell
GOAL! It's Campbell and it's 2-0 to Cardiff! The striker fires home for Cardiff and that could be game, set and match! Just as Sunderland were slowly starting to get increasingly involved in this one, Mutch was on hand once again to create a moment of magic, setting up Campbell for a two-yard tap-in. The forward produced a muted celebration, perhaps in a sign of respect to Malky Mackay.
Sunderland are getting more and more involved in this encounter but don't look capable of creating anything special. Meanwhile, Modibo Diakite has made yet another mistake...
This second half is yet to develop into the exciting, end-to-end encounter we witnessed in the first half, which will suit Cardiff more at the moment.
Emanuele Giaccherini tries to take on Noone now. Once again, however, the Cardiff man shines, not letting the Italian past him.
Whittingham wins a corner and from the ensuing set-piece, Campbell comes close but the ball sails into Mannone's hands!
Free kick to Cardiff now, Andrea Dossena punished. The Italian then complains that it should have been he who was awarded the free kick.
It's been another good start from Cardiff, much like in the first half, although Sunderland look to have more poise about them than about an hour ago...
We're underway for the second half!
Jordan Mutch's goal is the difference at the Cardiff City Stadium, where the home side lead Sunderland 1-0 after a thoroughly impressive half. Their dominance abated somewhat as the break approached - but up stepped David Marshall to make two crucial saves to deny Fabio Borini. The Black Cats are still in this, although they shouldn't be with the amount of chances Cardiff have enjoyed.
HALF-TIME: Cardiff 1-0 Sunderland
Now that Sunderland have got back into this one, it can truly be said to be a great game. It already was at roughly the half-hour point, although it was a one-sided affair. Now, we have the full package.
SUPERB SAVE! Marshall denies Borini once again! The Black Cats have slowly got back into this here and the Cardiff goalkeeper has now saved his side twice. The Sunderland striker's contact wasn't perfect - but a phenomenal stop was still required.
A poor shot from Noone now, who has made his first real error of the half after cutting inside from the right and miscueing his effort.
Whittingham, with five Cardiff shirts in the penalty area, produces a terrible delivery!
Free kick to Cardiff inside the Sunderland half now. Will we see another goal before half-time?
SAVE! Borini forces David Marshall into action! The Bluebirds stopper makes a fine save.
Sunderland are, however, coming into this game a lot more now. Will the home side rue their missed chances?
That was the Black Cats' biggest chance of the game by far and the American could not capitalise.
MISS!! Jozy Altidore misses from three yards out for Sunderland!
Yet another chance, this time for Noone! Will Cardiff add to their tally before half-time? If they don't, they'll definitely feel aggrieved...
CHANCE! But Noone, Mutch and Campbell combine once again as Cardiff almost double their lead! Campbell it is who fires the header away eventually, though it is a couple of yards wide.
Sunderland almost have some joy on the counterattack once again, however.
The Cardiff fans have unveiled a banner of support for Malky Mackay! The stewards who have tried to confiscate it from them have promptly been sent for a wild goose chase. As they attempt to remove it, it is thrown from one fan to another, with the stewards eventually giving up.
CHANCE! Campbell has a shot but it is Steven Caulker who gets the final touch to it, forcing Mannone into action with a header.
Fabio Borini and Phil Bardsley combine, however, for a rare attacking move for Sunderland. It comes to nothing but it does serve as a reminder that Cardiff need more than just the one goal to seal the deal here.
Yellow Card Lee Cattermole
Classic Lee Cattermole. The Sunderland midfielder lunges in at Mutch and earns himself a yellow card with a poor challenge. How many is that in his career now?
More pressure sees Fraizer Campbell get involved in the action and things do not look good for Sunderland here.
A win could take Cardiff as high as 14th here, while a Sunderland comeback could take them out of the relegation zone. Only one of those outcomes looks likely at the moment, however...
JUST OVER! Superb play from Kim Bo-Kyung, as he forces Vito Mannone into a save with a super strike from range. Unrelenting from Cardiff here.
The Black Cats have barely had a sniff here so far. Might Gus Poyet be pondering changes already?
A superb opening from Cardiff at the moment. Mutch, Noone and Whittingham have been absolutely terrorising the Sunderland defence.
GOAL! It's there - and it's Mutch who converts his fourth goal of the season. The Cardiff man picked the ball up 25 yards from goal and surged unstoppably towards the Sunderland defence. When he unleashed his strike, it took a heavy deflection, but Bluebirds fans won't care one bit. What a start. A deserved lead for Cardiff.
Assist Fraizer Campbell
Goal Jordon Mutch
HEADER! Peter Whittingham now comes close for the hosts, heading wide after a great run and cross from Craig Noone down the flank.
It has been a good start from Cardiff so far, with the Bluebirds making several advances into the Sunderland box already. Are they playing in honour of former manager Malky Mackay?
DIVE! Jordan Mutch's first real action of the game is to be booked for a dive. Valentin Roberge was the Sunderland defender involved, attempting a half-hearted challenge - certainly not enough to send Mutch flying to the ground like he did.
Yellow Card Jordon Mutch
We're off at the Cardiff City Stadium!
How will managerless Cardiff get on in their first game without Malky Mackay, then? Kick-off is just a few minutes away, so we'll find out! Also keep an eye out on any "Tan Out" protests...
