Was largely a spectator but saved well from Boateng late on when called upon. Was also aware enough to hold Neustadter's earlier header.
Got forward well from full-back and went close with a long range volley in the first half. Dealt well with the threat of Goretzka at the back.
Was tasked with marking Huntelaar and barely gave the Netherlands striker a sniff. Won a number of aerial challenges as well as making some key clearances.
Played some key passes forward as the hosts attacked, and was robust in the tackle when required defensively.
Beaten on more than one occasion by Kolasinac and was similarly disappointing going forward as his final ball regularly flew straight out of play.
Regularly found in midfield at times when Dortmund looked to take control and keep the ball for periods. Headed wide early on in his 250th Bundesliga outing for BVB.
Was thoroughly impressive in his link-up play as he popped up in a number of key areas and saw a shot well saved by Fahrmann. Somehow shot wide when well placed after the break.
Quiet in midfield as Dortmund looked to get the ball forward quickly and bypassed the midfield.
Proved to be the main goal threat for the hosts but he was left licking his wounds by Fahrmann as well as some off-target efforts.
A constant threat on the right as he looked to find his fellow attackers in the box. Never really got much chance to test Fahrmann himself.
Sent a free header wide of the post early on before wasting a great chance as he looked to round the goalkeeper instead of shooting.
Made three fantastic saves to deny Mkhitaryan and Reus twice and was quick off his line to halt Lewandowski when through on goal. Also excellent underneath the high ball in an impressive performance.
Clearances weren't always the best as he left his side in trouble. Did make some good headers and a couple of blocks inside the area.
Began brightly as he created an early chance for Huntelaar but was soon forced backwards by Grosskreutz. Struggled defensively to halt Dortmund's pacey attacks.
Set-piece delivery did cause some problems, and stuck to his main task of marking Lewandowski well. Booked but largely won the ball fairly.
Did his best to tame Reus and Durm but struggled at times as he was dragged inside. Did make the odd timely tackle or key header.
Lacked discipline in the first half as he picked up an early booking and was involved in a number of other incidents. Crosses weren't at their normal level before he was replaced i stoppage time.
Struggled to get involved as Schalke were forced further and further back. Played the odd neat pass before being replaced in the second half.
Was one of Schalke's brighter lights as he forced Weidenfeller into an early save and looked to find Huntelaar from the right-hand side. Also supported his defence well.
Was powerless to halt Dortmund's ferocious attacking pace as the hosts' midfielder's passed him by. Wasted the visitors' best chance as he sent a free header straight at Weidenfeller.
Showed plenty of neat touches in midfield despite being employed in a defensive role. Brought an excellent save out of Weidenfeller with a swerving effort in the second period.
Fired over with his only opportunity early on and struggled to get into the game thereafter. Regularly got too involved with the referee.
