Despite their victory last week, the Trotters sit in the bottom three and like the Black Cats are looking to rise out of the Premier League mire with a win at the Reebok Stadium

PROBABLE LINEUPS

BOLTON WANDERERS

Eagles, Pratley, Reo-Coker, Petrov
Davies, Klasnic
SUNDERLAND

Mignolet
O’Shea, Turner, Brown, Richardson
Elmohamady, Cattermole, Gardner, Vaughan
Sessegnon
Bendtner
Neither side have any fresh injury worries ahead of the clash at the Reebok Stadium.

Bolton still have a five man list of long-term players on the sidelines, but Sunderland could see ‘keeper Craig Gordon return to the squad and might make the bench. However, they will have to do without the suspended Sebastian Larsson.

Expect few changes to the Bolton side that saw off Wigan 3-1 in their last outing, with Ivan Klasnic possibly getting a look in over David Ngog this time round and Zat Knight coming in for David Wheater.

Nicklas Bendtner is able to return to the Black Cats set-up after being restricted by his loan deal in appearing against his parent club Arsenal last weekend.

DID YOU KNOW?

  • There may be no difference between points at the moment between these two sides in the Premier League, but Bolton have gained 545 since the competition’s introduction in 1992, 144 more than Sunderland’s 401
  • The Trotters’ highest ever goalscorer in a single season is Nathan Blake with 12 netted efforts in the 1997-98 campaign
  • All of the Black Cats’ four losses this season have been by a single goal
  • Owen Coyle’s side is the only outfit in the league not to have had a draw during the current campaign
  • Bolton have conceded 22 goals so far this term, more than any other side in the league
  • Sunderland are currently suffering their worst start to a season since they were relegated from the Premier League on only 15 points in 2005-06

The dynamic winger is still racing down the left-side for Bolton, even at the not so tender age of 32 and has been the heartbeat for the Trotters’  for much of the season so far.

With a goal and three assists during this campaign, expect the Bulgarian to put in another tenacious effort and look to supply the ball to the striker up top, as well have a pop on target himself when he gets the chance.

N. Bendtner

Position: Attacker

The Arsenal loanee hasn’t featured for his adopted club for a number of weeks now, thanks to internationals and his inability to play against his parent team last Sunday, leaving the Denmark international itching to get some more domestic action.

Always a danger either in the air or on the ground, Bendtner will give the Bolton defenders a hard time at the back with his height and technical abilities, so look for the striker to be causing trouble on a regular basis in the Trotters’ third.

Editor's Prediction

Prediction:

Bolton’s win over Wigan last week temporarily brought them out of the relegation zone, but following further results, the north west outfit sank back into 18th place. However, Steve Bruce’s side are only just above them on goal-difference.

Saturday’s game will most likely play out to scrappy standards of football, with both teams looking to start their rise into the higher reaches of the Premier League. But with the hosts’ win last weekend giving Owen Coyle and his players a much needed boost, I can see the hosts building on their confidence with a narrow win
