  • 90' + 5'
And the referee blows for full time! The match ends 3-1 to the away side as Ranieri starts his Inter reign with a win. The score reflects rather harshly on Bologna who were dominant in long patches, but the away side took their chances coolly and capitalized on Morleo's sending off. Thank you for joining us here on Goal.com!
  • 90' + 4'
The match is nearly over now and Bologna simply cannot penetrate the two bands of defending players. Inter are more than happy to clear the ball long and just see out the match.
  • 90' + 2'
Bologna push towards the goal but are having a tough time breaking down an Inter side who now have quite a few players back on defense, knowing that their scoring work is sufficient on the night.
  • 90'
Despite being down two goals and a man, Bologna continue to press forward and score another. The fourth official has added five minutes of stoppage time- can the home side pull off the impossible?
  • 89'
Perez deftly takes the ball from Nagatomo with a wonderful sliding tackle but Bologna are rushing their shots in an attempt to salvage something from the match and little ensues.
  • 88'
That was very poor marking by Antonsson who allowed the Inter man to get in front of him and head the ball in from very close range. Somehow it's all fallen apart for Bologna in the second half, despite that being their better half of the match!
  • 87'
    Assist Sulley Muntari
  • 87'
    Goal Lúcio
  • 87'
Another goal for Inter!! Lucio heads in the ensuing free-kick and the game is all but done!
  • 86'
    Yellow Card Rene Krhin
  • 86'
Zanetti easily outruns his former teammate Krhin who takes down the captain and is booked for the foul.
  • 85'
On the break Muntari tries to catch Agliardi off his line but the keeper parries the shot and eventually collects it! That was somewhat selfish from the Inter player as he had Pazzini wide open and waiting for the pass on his left.
  • 83'
The home side now must focus on retaining their energy levels and not becoming too deflated from what, in reality, was quite a sucker punch. Morleo was sent off for his involvement in the penalty and the home side are thus down to 10. Inter are comfortably holding the ball now, knowing that time is running out.
  • 81'
    Penalty Goal Diego Milito
  • 81'
Milito scores! He drives his penalty hard into the top left side of the goal, and despite Agliardi guessing the right direction, he cannot reach the ball in time. The away side are back in front, completely against the tide of the match!
  • 80'
    Red Card Archimede Morleo
  • 80'
Inter win a penalty! Morleo trips up Milito in the box after a clever Pazzini pass sets his fellow striker racing towards goal.
  • 79'
    Substitution G. Ramírez Rene Krhin
  • 79'
Krhin comes on for Ramirez now for Bologna, who is unable to play on due to his injury.
  • 77'
Diamanti whips in a dangerous free kick that whizzes just wide of the post and misses everyone!
  • 75'
    Substitution Diego Forlán Diego Milito
  • 75'
Samuel comes in to Ramirez with a high leg and concedes a free kick but avoids being booked. The Bologna player receives some medical attention and is limping heavily. The home side's free kick eventually leads to another free kick deep in the Inter half after Milito fouls Diamanti.
  • 74'
Chivu tries a long range belter but his shot drags very wide. Milito comes on for Forlan, in an odd move given Forlan's energy and creativity. Inter now have two poachers playing together up top.
  • 73'
The midfield has become a minefield for misplaced passes as both sides give away pass after pass. Inter eventually manage to break forward but Forlan's cross is blocked.
  • 72'
Bologna continue their second half dominance with a corner but Inter are able to clear and Perez is forced into a sliding challenge on the counter. Milito and Zarate continue to warm up on the sidelines as the away side now look to hold the ball more consistently.
  • 70'
    Substitution Jean-François Gillet Federico Agliardi
  • 70'
Indeed, Federico Agliardi comes on for Gillet who walks off the pitch clutching ice to his shoulder.
  • 69'
The Bologna goalie looks to be in some discomfort in his shoulder and it appears he will be substituted.
  • 68'
Forlan finds himself deep in the Bologna box and cuts the ball back. Gillet dives to parry it but gets a knock in the head from Muntari for his trouble! The goalie remains down as he receives medical treatment.
  • 67'
A fully deserved goal for the home side after a very dominant second half. Inter will not be pleased in the manner they conceded the goal after allowing Bologna so little from open play.
  • 66'
    Assist Daniele Portanova
  • 66'
    Penalty Goal Alessandro Diamanti
  • 66'
Samuel pushed Portanova aside to concede the penalty, and Diamanti steps up to take it... he scores! Julio Cesar got a hand to the shot but matches Gillet and allows the ball to drift in anyway. 1-1 and game on!
  • 65'
    Substitution J. Obi Sulley Muntari
  • 65'
Sulley Muntari comes on for Obi for the away side just before Ramirez takes that free kick. The number 10 strikes it very well and Julio Cesar leaps to his right to parry it out for a corner. Inter concede a penalty from the ensuing corner!
  • 64'
Substitution Marco Di Vaio Robert Acquafresca
  • 64'
Ramirez asks Bisoli to hold off substituting Aquafresca for him until after he can take a free kick, but instead the coach sends on the player for captain Di Vaio.
  • 62'
Diamanti, Di Vaio, and Kone quickly press the ball upfield. Mudingay whips a deep cross into the box but Julio Cesar collects it without too much trouble. Despite Bologna's possession this half the side half not truly had even a good chance to show for it.
  • 61'
    Yellow Card Diego Pérez
  • 60'
Cambiasso heads out a cross for a Bologna corner, which is wasted before Inter begin to break. Jonathan is fouled by Perez on the counter and the latter receives a yellow.
  • 59'
Chivu is booked for his involvement in a poor challenge during the build-up before the thrown in. The home side are very difficult to dispossess at the moment and Inter cannot seem to maintain the ball for any stretch of time.
  • 57'
Play is very scrappy down the right side of the field, where Inter first win two thrown-ins followed by a Bologna one in quick succession. The home side eventually come away with the ball and Diamanti's clever ball gets to Ramirez into the box before Inter can clear for a throw-in.
  • 55'
    Substitution Coutinho Jonathan
  • 55'
Both sides are losing possession very quickly. Di Vaio nearly makes his way into the box but he's flagged offside, and Jonathan is subbed on for Coutinho before Julio Cesar can take the resulting free-kick.
  • 54'
Bologna are now in the ascendency and continue to press forward very quickly in search of an equalizer. The away side manages to relieve the pressure temporarily but Bologna quickly regain possession.
  • 53'
Morleo takes on three Inter players and zips past them all. From his run Bologna play in a cross to Di Vaio who heads the ball down; Julio Cesar just manages to push it out for a corner!
  • 51'
The home side push forward; instead of exposing any one player, the side instead exploit the gaps in the field left by the away side. On the sidelines, Zarate warms up for Inter.
  • 49'
Bologna have an early corner but do little with it, and Inter break soon after through Coutinho. The player is dispossessed before regaining the ball. He dribbles his way into the box and shoots but his shot is blocked by Antonsson before Cambiasso pokes the follow-up over the crossbar! Nearly number two for Ranieri's men there!
  • 46'
And the second half is now underway! Both sides are struggling to keep the ball in the opening minute or so of play, but Inter eventually get to the Bologna box. Pazzini crosses in the ball and Obi kicks the ball quite strangely. He may have been going for a shot but the ball makes its way back to Pazzini, who was now offside.
  • 45' + 2'
So far it's been a fairly entertaining game at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara, with the away side in the lead after a fairly consistent presence in Bologna's box. However the home side have shown flashes of danger throughout, mostly through captain Di Vaio, and are far from out of it.
  • 45' + 1'
Kone plays Di Vaio into the box beautifully but Lucio's sliding tackle allows Julio Cesar to collect the ball. That turns out to be the last action of the first half as Inter head into the break one goal ahead.
  • 45'
This very late free-kick is likely Bologna's last chance to tie the match before the half. Diamanti drills in the kick but it's deflected out for a corner, which is cleared for yet another. The fourth official adds two minutes of injury time just as Inter managed to win a free kick of their own for Kone's tackle on Forlan.
  • 44'
Javier Zanetti gives the ball back to Bologna from the re-start as Lucio walks back on the pitch. The home side win another free kick after a poor Pazzini challenge but play the ball short. Pierpaolo Bisoli's men win another free kick soon after due to a poor challenge from Chivu, who is promptly booked as well.
  • 42'
Bologna are now playing smart football and work their way into the Inter box. Lucio clears a Morleo cross with a diving header but the Inter player stays down; Bologna clear the ball so he can receive treatment.
  • 40'
Gasperini now looking rather foolish for keeping Pazzini benched for long stretches of time. Gillet however must take some of the blame there, as a stronger hand to the ball would have prevented the goal entirely.
  • 39'
    Assist Esteban Cambiasso
  • 39'
    Goal Giampaolo Pazzini
  • 39'
Pazzini scores!!! Forlan's great ball forward found Cambiasso, who just lays the ball off into the Italian international's path. Pazzini hammers a shot towards the net and Gillet gets a hand to it but it drifts in anyway. The away side are in the lead!
  • 37'
Coutinho loses the ball deep in Inter's half but an acrobatic Chivu clearance prevents Bologna from capitalizing on the mistake.
  • 35'
    Yellow Card Coutinho
  • 35'
Bologna now have a free kick just outside Inter's box on the left. Coutinho is booked for taking down Kone as the Bologna player was about to rampage in towards the goal. Kone stands over the ball and attempts to score on his own but Julio Cesar is able to get down and smother the shot.
  • 34'
Di Vaio now at a very tight angle himself near Julio Cesar's goal, but he is unable to keep the ball in despite attempting a tricky cross.
  • 33'
Antonsson is back on the pitch, presumably able to carry on despite his knock. Coutinho believes he's set Pazzini free in the box, albeit at a difficult angle, but the whistle eventually is blown for the Italian's foul during the buildup.
  • 31'
Within a few seconds both sides play poor passes that allows the other to gain control of the match. Julio Cesar eventually collects the ball after a Bologna cross that went a bit too deep for anyone else to reach.
  • 30'
Obi's pace on the left allows him to easily brush past Casarini but his poor cross is easily cleared. Nevertheless, he and Nagatomo have been providing the width that's allowing Inter so many chances around the box.
  • 28'
Bologna exchange some great passes in the midfield and try to pour into Inter's box, but Samuel clears and the away side counter. Forlan immediately whips in a cross to the onrushing Pazzini but he's unable to connect with the ball despite his lunging dive!
  • 27'
And Antonsson does come off for treatment; Bologna are temporarily down to 10 men whilst the coaching staff debates sending him back in against substituting Loria.
  • 26'
Antonsson is down rubbing his stomach, as it appears he may have picked up a muscle knock. Former Roma player Simone Loria is warming up on the sidelines and may come in to replace the defender.
  • 24'
It's been a match of free kicks so far as now Bologna drill one into Inter's box. Coutinho does well to defend his area and Inter eventually regain possession.
  • 23'
Inter's width up top is stretching Bologna but poor passing is causing them to loose the ball. Meanwhile Obi concedes a free-kick on the halfway line after fouling the rampaging Ramirez.
  • 21'
The speedy Nagatomo is causing quite a few problems for Bologna as Diamanti fouls whilst trying to dispossess him of the ball. Inter do little with the ensuing free-kick, however, as both sides continue to be sloppy in the midfield.
  • 20'
Ranieri's improvements to the side are evident even this early into his first match, as Inter's offense is clicking like never before under Gasperini. The side have nothing to show for it yet but continue to pour forward in search of beating Gillet.
  • 18'
Kone fouls Nagatomo, which leads to yet another free-kick just outside of Bologna's box. This time Chivu drills in a cross that Pazzini heads over the bar. That's another chance for Inter gone begging...
  • 17'
Coutinho fires just wide! The ball from Forlan's corner was cleared only to the edge of the box, and the young player makes enough space to fire off a shot that just sails past the right post. Inter are very close to a goal here.
  • 15'
Morleo fouls Coutinho on a counter attack and Inter find themselves with another free kick deep in the home side's half. Forlan once again whips it in but Di Vaio heads out his cross for a corner.
  • 14'
Inter smell blood and continue to surge towards Gillet's goal. Luckily for the home side, Coutinho commits a foul to concede a free kick to their goalie, and the teams are able to regroup.
  • 14'
Inter smell blood and continue to surge towards Gillet's goal. Luckily for the home side, Coutinho commits a foul to concede a free kick to their goalie, and the teams are able to regroup.
  • 13'
Pazzini holds the ball up very well in front of the net and tries to play in the onrushing Forlan but Bologna manages to clear. They do a poor job however and the ball finds its way back to the Uruguayan who hits the post a few seconds later!
  • 11'
Di Vaio nearly scores there! A beautiful through ball finds the Bologna captain who races in from the left and blasts a shot towards the right corner. It sails just over the upright as the home side display their intentions on the night.
  • 9'
Immediately on the other side, Ramirez nearly plays in Di Vaio but Julio Cesar is quick to read the play and comes off his line to collect the ball.
  • 8'
Pazzini wins a free kick deep in the home side's half which Diego Forlan is more than happy to take. He whips in a cross and Samuel gets on the end of it, first times a shot but it's straight at Gillet! The goalkeeper parries easily. That was close for the away side.
  • 6'
Bologna's DIamanti is down holding his face after a challenge with Obi, but he's quickly back on his feet to watch Inter play a long ball directly out of bounds.
  • 5'
The away side have been uncharacteristically sloppy in their passing early in the match, and Bologna have been quick to capitalize on their mistakes but cannot make anything of note from them.
  • 4'
Coutinho goes down after receiving a pass from Chivu but the ref waves play on, despite the challenge from Bologna.
  • 3'
Inter have a quick succession of throw-ins on the right as Bologna clear three easily. Nagatomo is finally able to latch onto the end of one of them but he's dispossessed by the home side.
  • 1'
And we have kickoff! Inter are playing from left to right and Lucio makes an early mistake to concede a corner to Bologna. Ramirez swings it in but it's easily cleared out.
  • Though a home match for Bologna, all eyes will be on the away team and their new coach. Can Claudio Ranieri stem the tide of poor results? Will he get Inter back to their indomitable best? The match kicks off in a few minutes!
  • The benches for each side have a fair few options in case a change is needed, with Bologna able to turn to Acquafresca or Rene Khrin, co-owned by both the club and Inter. The away side ave the likes of Diego Milito and two summer signings Ricky Alvarez and Mauro Zarate as options as well. Bologna bench: Agliardi, Krhin, Pulzetti, Vitale, Paponi, Loria, Acquafresca Inter bench: Castellazzi, Alvarez, Milito, Zarate, Castaignos, Jonathan, Muntari
  • Each side has had differing concerns this early in the season, however. Inter's seven conceded goals are the second highest allowed in the league, whereas Bologna have only scored a single goal in their three matches thus far.
  • Claudio Ranieri has radically shifted the Inter side from Gain Piero Gasperini's usual formation. The Tinkerman's 4-4-2 is in place with Giampaolo Pazzini and Walter Samuel set to feature from the first minute for the side, which now appears a much more convention Inter team. Julio Cesar; Yuto Nagatomo, Lucio, Walter Samuel, Cristian Chivu; Philippe Coutinho Javier Zanetti, Esteban Cambiasso, Joel Obi; Deigo Forlan, Giampaolo Pazzini.
  • The teams' lineups have been announced. First up is Bologna, who have made a single change from the team that tied Juventus 1-1 midweek. Captain Marco Di Vaio takes the place of Roberto Acquafresca upfront. Jean Francois Gillet; Federico Casarini, Daniele Portanova, Mikael Antonsson, Archimede Morleo; Diego Perez, Gaby Mudingayi, Panagiotis Konè; Gaston Ramirez, Alessandro Diamanti; Marco Di Vaio.
  • Welcome to Goal.com's live match coverage of Bologna-Inter! Claudio Ranieri's first game in charge of the Milan side will be a difficult away battle against a team as anxious to gain points as his own. Both sides have drawn one and lost two of their opening three matches.
