Not tested too often, but looked calm and confident in goal. Saved by the post in the late stages, but all in all it was a deserved clean sheet.
Never afraid to have a go at goal, but lacked any real sting in his shots. Defensively sound, containing Cazorla well on the wing.
Fantastic defensive performance, not putting a foot wrong at the back. Shadowed Alexis Sanchez extremely well, frustrating the Chilean every time he got on the ball.
Eager to get forward but lacked quality in attack. Caught out of position a few times, but often recovered well to prevent Sanchez from taking advantage.
Was not tested much as Arsenal remained insistent on building through the right hand side. Hardly troubled by Giroud.
Tremendous work rate in midfield. Acted well as provider, sending a number of teasing balls into the penalty area. A key figure during his side's long spells in possession.
Sound performance, taking away space in midfield from which Arsenal like to work. Never saw much of the ball, remaining focused on his defensive responsibilities.
Got into some good areas, but often needed a better final ball. A good run led to a glorious scoring chance just after the restart, but his curling effort sailed inches wide of the far post. Subbed off with 20 minutes to play.
Put in good work defensively, but rarely got up to contribute in attack. Some good tackles and sharp outlet passes proved important.
Up for the game right from the start, nearly scoring withing five seconds with an ambition, albeit impressive, attempt from half. Looked like scoring in the first half with a number of chances, but faded as the match went on.
His work ethic was fantastic and it led to a number of turnovers. Usually a striker, he was asked to play on the wing and did not disappoint. Tracked back well and created his fare share of chances in attack.
Tested early and often. Certainly got up for the match as he made a number of fine saves. Avoided embarrassment keeping out Demba Ba's early effort, perhaps gaining some confidence that took him through the match.
Stretched a bit at the back by Pektemek and Koybasi who worked the ball around well. Looked shaky at times but always managed to get the job done.
Had trouble dealing with Sahan at times in defence, and never did make an impact going forward. When he did, the final ball was lacking.
Struggled at times to deal with the physicality of Ba. Strong in the air, making some important clearances. A defensive slip nearly led to the opening goal for Besiktas.
Sound performance. Always provided cover and consistently found himself in the right position.
Always eager to put in a challenge. Did well to find space in midfield, and made some nice runs his teammates failed to pick out.
Went off injured shortly after the break. His passing in the first half was efficient, but he could not make much of an impact in midfield.
Had the bulk of the scoring chances for Arsenal, firing just wide of the far post in the first half and forcing a smart save from the keeper off a free kick in the second.
Two needless challenges saw his day cut short as he was sent off in the 80th minute. Never did manage to get himself into the game, however.
Poor performance from the striker who had little, if any, impact on the match. Failed to hold up the ball and posed no threat to the two central defenders. Didn't get on the end of a single scoring opportunity.
Saw plenty of the ball and looked to take the game over early on. Besiktas clued in and quickly smothered him every time he saw the ball. He grew increasingly frustrated and came off with 20 minutes to play.
An honest half of work in midfield. Nothing flashy, as is often the case with the Frenchman, but his aggressive nature worked well in this match.
Nearly the hero as his curled shot struck the inside of the post with two minutes remaining before being cleared off the line.
