Thank you for joining us at Goal.com for what was a truly memorable Champions League night. Be sure to stay with us for all the post-match news and analysis. My name is Tom Webber and it has been a real pleasure to guide you through tonight's game. Have a great evening.
The final whistle has gone in Minsk and what a game that was! BATE have secured a massive win over Bayern, winning 3-1 with a solid, pragmatic display. Despite dominating possession, the Germans were unable to test the keeper until Ribery gave them a lifeline after Pavlov and Rodionov had put the hosts two ahead. A late winner from Bressan ensured a memorable night for the Belarusians, though.

Assist Dmitri Mozolevski

Goal Renan Bressan
GOOOOOOAAAALLL!! BATE HAVE WON IT!! Yet another counterattack brings about a goal for the Belarusians. The substitute Mozolevski carries the ball forward down the left and once in the area, squares it for Bressan. The Brazilian has an easy finish and smashes it into the roof of the net.
90' + 4'
WHAT A CHANCE!! The keeper spills the ball at Pizarro but the striker is blocked from firing into an open net by Sivakov who once more puts his body on the line.
90' + 3'
Whistles are ringing around the stadium in Minsk now as BATE's lead starts to look a bit bare. A roar finally goes up as the keeper comes to claim Lahm's cross into the area successfully. Can they keep the ball out for two more minutes?!
90' + 2'
Yellow Card Claudio Pizarro
90' + 1'
Yellow Card Andrey Gorbunov

Assist Xherdan Shaqiri

Goal Franck Ribéry
GOOOOAAAALLL!! That is one back! The BATE defence lose their organisation for one moment and Shaqiri spots the gap. He slips a through-ball to Ribery and the Frenchman sweeps it home. Surely Bayern cannot get another now. Can they?!
90' + 1'
We have entered the first minute of an additional four.
In their haste to get the ball up the pitch Bayern are resorting to the long ball which is playing right into BATE's hands. Their physically strong defence are capable of winning the majority of aerial balls and they will be desperate to hold on for a clean sheet.
Bayern have upped the tempo here but it is surely too little too late. The BATE players are going down at every possible opportunity in a bid to waste time which will not help the visitors' cause.
Super challenge from Sivakov! The lofty defender flings his body in the way of another effort from Ribery to turn it behind from the corner. Gorbunov keeps up his impressive work between the sticks by coming to punch away the resultant set play.
OFF THE POST!! Another great chance for Ribery as he slices his way through the defence to find space in the area. He lashes a shot at goal and it has the beating of Gorbunov but it cannons back off the frame of the goal.
Good save from Gorbunov! Bayern get a man over on the right in Shaqiri and Muller picks him out. The Swiss drills a cross into the area and it is deflected out as far as Ribery. He rifles an effort towards the bottom corner and the keeper blocks it, collecting it at the second attempt.
Well, I did say that the game was going to go either way, and it seems to have swung the way of the hosts. Their fairytale start to this Champions League campaign continues, and they could well be three points clear at the top should they hold onto this result.
Assist Edgar Olekhnovich
Goal Vitali Rodionov
GOOOOOOOOAAALL!! BATE have done it! Hleb does excellently to orchestrate a rare spell in possession but it is Rodionov who adds the finishing touch. A one-two on the edge of the box cuts Bayern apart with ease and he fires in at the near post.
Heynckes has introduced Pizarro and Schweinsteiger in an attempt to galvanise his side. Mandzukic is one of the players to make way having failed to get the better of Simic all night.
Muller receives a cross at the back post and controls it brilliantly with his chest. He fires a shot at goal but Bordachov gets across and slides in, getting the slightest of touches to deflect it behind for a corner.
Three players pressure Hleb on the ball in his own half and they manage to take it from him. It falls to Shaqiri and he tries to thread a pass up to Mandzukic but sends it straight to the opposition's defence.
Yellow Card Luiz Gustavo
This game is so finely balanced. On the one hand, Bayern are pushing men forward, desperate for an equaliser. But the more they commit, the more vulnerable they are defensively and the match could now swing either way in an instant.
Yellow Card Maksim Bordachov
BATE surge forward rapidly through Olekhnovich and the midfielder gets to within 25 yards of goal before running out of ideas. He plays a one-two with Hleb but the pair go for the same ball on the return pass and end up tackling each other. Wasteful stuff there.
Viktor Goncharenko is still looking remarkably calm on the touchline despite his side being just over 20 minutes from a potentially massive scalp. Bayern are finding more and more space as the half goes on though.
WHAT A MISS!! BATE have a terrific chance to double their advantage as another swift break catches the Bavarians on the back foot. Hleb struggles to get the ball out of his feet and shifts it to Pavlov who is free to his right. He takes a touch but completely slices his effort from 10 yards out, missing the target.
OVER THE BAR!! Kroos picks up possession wide on the left and cuts in onto his right foot. He has Ribery overlapping but opts to shoot instead. His effort sails over the bar and the Frenchman is quick to voice his displeasure at his team-mate's decision. Naughty boy.
Bayern are cranking it up a notch now following the introducution of Shaqiri. The BATE defence are looking a bit more disorganised as they are being pulled across the pitch. It seems like only a matter of time until the probe the right gap.
Good hands from Gorbunov! A lofted ball is sent into the area and the keeper is challenged to it by Luiz Gustavo. He holds his ground well and claims it from the sky, keeping it in his possession as he falls to the ground.
Well that is a very positive move. Martinez is the man to go off, meaning that Kroos is likely to drop further back the field, alongside Luiz Gustavo. It should make for more fluidity up front now with Ribery, Muller and Shaqiri all capable of interchanging.
Yellow Card Dante
Shaqiri is getting ready to enter the fold on the sidelines. It is certainly what Bayern need, they have been lacking creativity this half.
SUPER SAVE!! Hleb drifts in from the left and exchanges passes at speed with Rodionov. He makes his way over to the far side of the area and rolls the ball back for Olekhnovich to strike. His attempt is powerful and on target but Neuer parries it behind.
If Bayern were to win this game they would set a new club record of 10 consecutive wins at the start of a season. Is that enough to motivate them to come from behind an win this?
No surprises that the Bavarians have settled straight back onto the ball. BATE are clearly going to try and retain the one-goal margin. How long until Schweinsteiger is introduced? Send me your thoughts and comments via Twitter @thwebber.
Yellow Card Holger Badstuber
A corner from the left for Bayern is sent deep and finds its way to Lahm at the back post. The full-back strikes it first time but his shot deflects off of Olekhnovich and goes behind for the corner, which they fail to make the most of.
Poor communication sees a chance go begging for Bayern! Mandzukic receives the ball from Boateng and turns into space. Kroos is making a run into the whole and he opts to pass to his team-mate. But the midfielder is expecting the Croatian to take it himself and stops his run, meaning the ball runs through to the keeper.
The second half has begun! Can Bayern find a way back into this match and avoid a huge upset on matchday two? We are about to find out.
Welcome back! The teams are back out on the pitch and kick off is just a few moments away.
It is half time in Minsk and Bayern are trailing BATE 1-0. The Bavarians have enjoyed the far greater degree of the ball but the hosts have been impressive on the break. Heynckes will really need to get his team motivated during the break. Join me in 15 minutes for the second half to see if the Bundesliga side can turn this game around.
45' + 1'
Into the first, and only, minute of additional time.
Badstuber is having one of his most adventurous games down the left this season. He whips in a pacy ball from the wide area but once more the BATE defence win it and head it away. He is perhaps trying to atone for his positional error that helped create the first goal.
Bayern have had 62 per cent of the possession so far this half but still find themselves behind. But that is nothing compared to the whopping 74% of possession they enjoyed against Valencia a fortnight ago which was a matchday one high.
LAST DITCH DEFENDING!! Lahm provides the additional width on the right to great effect once more as he sends another low cross into the box. Simic follows Mandzukic across and blocks his initial effort before getting a toe in to stop the rebound being fired in.
It looks like BATE are just going to keep their shape and try and retain this lead into half time. They are happy to led the Bavarians hold on to the ball, only going to close them down when they enter the final third, and doing so in numbers.
Although Bayern went all the way to the final of last season's competition, their form away from home has been pretty dire. Die Roten have only won one of their last five Champions League on their travels, and the way this one is going it could well be six soon.
Mandzukic is down on the floor at the top of the box. He seems to have been clipped by Simic but it did not look like there was much in it, though Jupp Heynckes may disagree. Play is halted and the Croatian gets up, clearly just drawing attention to the tackle from the BATE defender.
The hosts are doing very well defensively here, soaking up the pressure and working for each other to contain the waves of Bayern attacks. Nevertheless, the Bavarians are still enjoying a good share of possession and you get the feeling it will not stay this way for the full 90 minutes.
BATE look to launch a quick break again and once more Pavlov is involved. He knocks the ball past Dante on the half-way line and dives to the floor. The referee does not buy it and simply tells the midfielder to get up, much to his dismay.
Lahm pushes on for the first time this evening and is played in at the byeline after a give-and-go with Muller. He squares a low pass into the area but it is too close to the keeper who dives down and smothers the ball.
Though the win over Lille may have been BATE's first Champions League win, at home in last season's group stage they drew 1-1 against AC Milan. Bayern have a big task on their hands to find a way back into this one.
GOOD SAVE!! Bayern respond to going behind positively as Ribery sends in a cross from the left. Muller attacks it at the back post and wins the header but Gorbunov gets his hand to it and manages to keep it out. They build another attack moments later and from another header the keeper makes a second save.
Assist Aleksandr Volodko
Goal Alexander Pavlov
GOOOOOAAAALLL!! BATE have taken the lead! Unbelievable stuff in Minsk as the hosts reap the rewards of a devastating counterattack. Polyakov is found in space at the back post and his cutback finds Volodkov. He mishits his effort but it falls kindly for Pavlov who rifles the ball home.
Yellow Card Alexander Pavlov
Heynckes' side get the ball in the back of the net but the referee's assistant raises his flag for offside. The official does pull play back though and book Polyakov for a terrible foul that he originally played advantage for in the build-up of that move.
That is not quite as impressive from Bordachov, though. His side do well to contain an attack and although he has time on the ball, he opts to punt it long. His pass goes well beyond the forward line and runs all the way through to Neuer, handing possession straight back to the opposition.
Following the success of Polyakov down the right flank, the left-back Bordachov decides to try his luck. He has Javi Martinez chasing back but is adjudged to have run the ball out of play. Despite that chance for Kroos, BATE are refusing to sit back.
Bayern win a free kick 35 yards from goal in a central position. Badstuber is the man to take it and he strikes the ball well, arrowing it towards the goal with pace and dip. The placement is lacking though and Gorbunov shuffles to his side and catches it with ease.
OFF THE POST!! I cannot believe he's missed that! Likhtarovich was caught in possession by Kroos and the midfielder surged towards the open goal. He rounded Gorbunov, taking the ball off to his left, but was unable to wrap his foot around the ball and steer it into the vacant goal, only managing to hit the foot of the post.
This is a good spell for Bayern now as they win three corners in quick succession. The third, and final, one is flighted in from the right but the keeper punches clear. The visitors are showing their experience here, not getting flustered or intimidated by BATE's positive start.
Bayern do well to work a chance as the hosts get seven men behind the ball in the final third. Ribery clips a ball into the box, spotting Mandzukic's diagonal run across the face of the defenders. The Croatian gets a foot to the ball but the defender gets across and he volleys wide.
For those of you who may have been expecting a bit of a walkover tonight, BATE are without defeat in their previous 16 games. The last team to best them was Dinamo Minsk who earned a 3-1 victory on July 1.
GOOD SAVE!! Polyakov again pushes forward and is found in played in down the right. He puts a low pass into the area which is met by Rodionov at the near post. The striker flicks the ball on target and Neuer reacts well to get his body in the way.
Rodionov is already looking like he is set to be a nuisance as he puts the Bayern centre-backs under pressure as soon as they get the ball. He is ready to charge in behind at the slightest slip-up so the visitors will need to be careful.
Luiz Gustavo is found in space in the BATE half but he is quickly closed down by Olekhnovich. The Brazilian went down a bit too easily but it was still good tracking from the midfielder to follow his run.
This is a good start from BATE as the contain a Bayern attack and immediately go forward with Polyakov pushing on from right-back. They work the ball neatly across the pitch and Rodionov almost manages to capitalise on an uncertain header back to Neuer from Badstuber. The keeper is first to the ball though, but nevertheless, a bright start from the hosts.
We are under way in Minsk! Bayern in their traditional all-red kit are attacking from right to left.
The teams have just entered the stadium and are standing for the Champions League anthem at the moment. Bayern have been in indomitable early season form, in fact, Bayern's 2-1 victory against Valencia was their sixth in as many games in 2012/13. The last time they began a season with six consecutive wins, in 2000/01, they lifted the Champions League trophy.
Bayern have never faced Belarusian opposition in a competitive fixture before. BATE have only ever come up against one German team in European competition, and that was in the 2002 Intertoto Cup against die Roten's city rivals 1860 Munich. BATE won 5-0 on aggregate, including a 4-0 win at home to die Lowen.
Bayern (4-2-3-1): Neuer; Lahm, Boateng, Dante, Badstuber; Martinez, Luiz Gustavo; Muller, Kroos, Ribery; Mandzukic. Subs: Starke, Van Buyten, Rafinha, Schweinsteiger, Tyhmoshchuk, Shaqiri, Pizarro.
BATE (4-3-3): Gorbunov; Polyakov, Filippenko, Simic, Boradachov; Olekhnovich, Likhtarovich, Volodko; Pavlov, Rodionov, Hleb. Subs: Gutor, Yurevich, Bressan, Sivakov, Rudik, Mozolevski, Vasilyuk.
There is no Schweinsteiger in the starting line-up for Bayern tonight, while Gomez, who is still out with injury, and Robben do not make the matchday squad. However, Heynckes remains consistent with his defensive selection. Full team news on the way.
Both these sides were victorious in Group F on Matchday One: Bayern beat Valencia 2-1 whilst BATE secured an impressive 3-1 victory over Lille in France, their first win in the Champions League group stage at the 13th attempt.
