FULL-TIME! Barcelona record an easy 3-0 home victory at Camp Nou against Racing with Messi grabbing a double and Xavi scoring a rare header. Barcelona return to the top of La Liga, a point clear of rivals Real Madrid. That's it from me, Luke Matthews tonight. Make sure you check out all the other results today on Goal.com. Buenos noches.
Two minutes time to be added on here at Camp Nou.
We're approaching the end of this game. I can't see there being much injury time as the referee will be happy to put Racing out of their misery.
Barcelona are still seeing all of the ball as Racing look content with keeping the result to a 3-0 loss. Another top performance from the home side who have played in first gear for most of the second-half.
Messi takes the free-kick from the right and as the ball is headed into the area. Abidal sends an overhead kick towards goal. Great effort yet Tono makes a smart save.
Villa receives a great through ball from Thiago yet the striker smashes the ball over the bar from a tight angle, 15 yards out. Villa has been a little quiet tonight, especially in the second half.
Yellow Card Edu Bedia
Offside given on Abidal as Messi slaloms into the penalty area. The French defender was standing in an offside position yet was he involved in play?
Guardiola's men continue to play their passing game. There's no rush to add a fourth but who would bet against them grabbing another?
If Messi grabs another this evening, he will be the first Barcelona player to to score three successive hat-tricks at Camp Nou. Surely he won't break another record, will he?
Game over now, I think it's fair to say. Iniesta is replaced by Keita for the final 20 minutes of the game. Impressive return to action for the playmaker.
Goal Lionel Messi
GOOOOAAAALLLL! 3-0 BARCELONA! Messi slides an excellent through ball to Iniesta who controls the ball well despite being closely marked before striking the ball. His effort bounces off the post yet Messi is on cue to smash it into the net from 12 yards out.
Brilliant play by Messi who skips past two challenges before making his way into the box. Alvaro appears to bring down the forward as Pedro lashes the ball wide. However, no penalty given, despite there being contact.
Racing are working very hard in this game and well be happy with their performance in the second half, despite hardly touching the ball.
Wonderful control from Messi to bring the ball down before making fools of two Racing defenders. Showboating from the home team now. Surely they should be more concerned with adding to their goal tally?
We must surely be getting towards 80 per cent possession for the Catalan side who are in complete control of this game at the moment.
Messi steam rolls the ball into the penalty area before he eventually over runs it, with Racing fortunate to escape danger there, especially as Francis looked like he may have fouled the Argentine.
Intricate play from the home team as Thiago's chipped ball finds Messi who sees his volley well-saved by Tono from close range.
Messi slides the ball to Xavi as the midfielder can only watch on as his 22 yard effort takes a touch off Bernardo and goes out for a corner.
Racing are working hard yet even when they regain possession of the ball, Barcelona crowd them out before winning it back.
Normal service resumed as Barcelona settle back into their possession game, calmly stroking it around the pitch.
The away side get the second-half underway and Kone tests Valdes with a low drive. Racing have done more in the first 30 seconds of the second half than they did in the whole of the first period.
HALF-TIME! Barcelona head into the half-time break with a 2-0 lead against Racing, Messi and Xavi grabbing the goals. Surely it's game over for the away team yet in football, anything can happen. Make sure you rejoin us in 15 minutes for the second-half!
Jairo is unable to keep the ball in the corner as Barcelona earn a goal-kick. That is the first time the away team have been in the Barcelona half with the ball for 15 minutes.
It has been none stop attacks on the away team's goal for Barcelona tonight as we approach half-time. How is it only 2-0?
CLOSE FROM VILLA! Messi plays a superb through ball to Spain's record goalscorer who rounds the keeper before striking the side-netting. To be fair to Villa, the angle was fairly tight.
Villa tries his luck from 25 yards out yet his effort flies wide of goal, despite Tono making the dive to cover himself.
HOW DID PUYOL MISS! Pedro gets into the box and drills the ball across goal towards Puyol who is two yards from goal. Somehow the 33-year-old gets the ball stuck between his legs before Racing clear the danger. I think Puyol forgot which team he was on there.
Messi nearly pokes the ball home from close range! Pedro gets into the box and his cross-come-shot takes a deflection off Bernardo and Messi is inches away from making it 3-0.
Decent opportunity from the home team as Villa slides the ball through to Pedro who takes a heavy first touch as Tono is alert out of his goalmouth to claim it on the ground.
The home side are permanently camped in and around the Racing penalty area at the moment. Surely we're not too far away from a third goal?
Is there a way back into this game for Hector Cuper's men? It looks unlikely at the moment with Barcelona completely dominating proceedings.
GOOOOAAAALLLL! 2-0 Barca and it's a real collector's item this. pedro does well to beat Francis down the left-wing before chipping the ball into the box as Xavi ghosts past several Racing markers to head it past Tono from eight yards out.
On a marauding run forward, Messi looks to have got the better of Christian before Tziolis makes a great challenge on the Argentine who looks very dangerous this evening, as always.
The former Sevilla man wastes the set-piece as his tame effort is easily cut out by Bernardo in the Racing box. The away side get the ball forward and have their first shot on goal as Kone's effort is caught easily by Valdes.
Barcelona have a free-kick more than 30 yards from goal. What can Daniel Alves do here?
Yellow Card Diop
Very late lunge by Diop on Iniesta with the Senegalese international earning a yellow card. Deserved caution there for the 25-year-old.
Possession play from the home team as Messi goes flying following a challenge from Francis. No free-kick given though.
Barcelona have now sprung into life and Racing have conceded that dreaded early goal. 15 goals for Mr Messi so far this season. Surely he will go past last campaign's tally of 53?
NEARLY 2! Excellent build-up play, this time by Messi and Villa with the former striker eventually cutting it back to Messi who smashes the ball over the bar from 15 yards out.
Goal Lionel Messi
GOOOOAAAALLLL! 1-0 BARCELONA! Hazard a guess who scored it? Yes, you're right - it's that man again, Lionel Messi! The Argentine works brilliantly with Iniesta to work the ball around five Racing defenders before taking it past the keeper and sliding it into the net from close range. Pure class.
Massive disappointment for Pique who on his 150th appearance for Barcelona, is forced off with a knock. Abidal, who is in the process of negotiating a new deal to stay at Camp Nou takes his place.
Quiet start from the Catalan giants who have are used to taking the lead early, especially here at Camp Nou. Not much to worry about for Racing so far.
The home side look like creating the first chance of the game yet Pedro's cut back to Villa sees the striker mis-hit his effort as Racing clear the ball with ease.
Barcelona start the game in their usual way by making sure as many men in blue and red get a touch of the ball. Racing have a tough task on their hands tonight and it's imperative for the away team that they do not concede an early goal.
We're underway here after a minute silence. Barcelona are in their traditional blue and red kit while Racing step out in their all green away kit.
Both sides are out on the pitch now. Guardiola will be delighted to have Iniesta back in his starting line-up as Maxwell makes a rare start for the Catalan giants.
Racing Santander (4-4-2): Tono; Francis, Alvaro, Bernardo, Christian; Diop, Tziolis, Adrian, Jairo; Munitis, Kone
Barcelona (4-3-3): Valdes; Alves, Pique, Puyol, Maxwell; Xavi, Iniesta, Thiago; Pedro, Messi, Villa
