Will feel like he could have done better from Shelvey's flick whch saw Bellamy score although he was put off by Suarez in front of him. Had no chance for Skrtel's goal but made some smart saves, including an excellent one to deny Johnson.
A determined effort from the Irishman but was fortunate that Suarez didn't punish him after he lost out to the striker in his own area.
Terrorised by Downing to begin with he also saw Johnson bomb past him on numerous occasions. A difficult match for one of Villa's most consistent performers this season who also gave the ball away to Johnson just outside his own area who then nearly scored.
Had the unenviable task of taking on an inspired Craig Bellamy but held his own well and got him booked from a forward run. However, he was beaten to the ball by the running Skrtel for his goal as Villa tried to mark zonally and lost out to Bellamy once again which nearly resulted in a third goal.
Without doubt the most assured of all his side's defenders which wasn't saying too much. Unfortunately he was unable to prevent Villa from losing easily
Was praised by his manager for his performance at Bolton last week and he looked bright going forward with a couple of dangerous shots but he didn't offer enough cover to a struggling Warnock.
A disappointing display from Villa's captain who could provide little cover for his troubled back-line. Looks more comfortable with the defensive Chris Herd behind him.
Returned to the side after missing out last week through injury. Some forward runs allowed him opportunities to shoot which he couldn't take advantage of but he lacked the creativity to unlock the Liverpool defence.
Put in a lovely early cross to Heskey , although the stirker was marginally offside. Looks to be confident on the right and he put in some decent deliveries which have been lacking in the past.
Did not look fazed by going up against the best defence in the league and was unafraid to shoot from range but he could not convert his header from an Albrighton free-kick.
Full of running and endeavour. Headed a good chance straight at Reina but was fractionally offside and flicked another header over from a corner. Occasionally gave the ball away but also held it up well and linked up the play. Was taken off early in the second half with the Villa midfield needing an extra body.
Made an easy save from an early Petrov free-kick and had little to do afterwards as his side recorded another routine win.
Another excellent performance alongside Skrtel as he denied Delfouneso any decent opportunities. Missed a great chance to give his side a third goal early in the second half but it wasn't costly.
Struggled at times against Albrighton who was able to whip some crosses into the area under little pressure but he was able to stay back as Bellamy wreaked havoc on the left.
One bright run into the Villa area characterised Johnson's attacking adventure but he was a bit subdued in this match after Liverpool had taken an early two goal lead. Defensively he looked solid against N'Zogbia and was unlucky to be denied by Guzan after an excellentr shot from range.
Took his goal well after showing great determination to get to the ball first. Did well in the air against Heskey and was rewarded when the big striker was taken off.
Had been in great scoring touch for Blackpool, scoring six times in 10 games and he looked comfortable in the Liverpool midfield. Going forward he saw one shot on the slide tipped wide and tried his luck soon after but it was tame and didn't trouble Guzan. Missed the target in the second half once again.
In a brilliant Liverpool performance Henderson proved to be the weak link as Villa were given too much space to take shots at Reina's goal.
Nasty early tackle on Delfouneso and was deservedly booked later for a much more innocuous foul on Heskey. Showed some steel in the Liverpool midfield which was needed but when forward he shot instead of squaring to Shelvey.
Roundly booed on his return to Villa Park but he put that behind him to cause Warnock all sorts of problems on the right. Provided the corner for the first goal but his final ball was not to the same standard as his dribbling.
A typical Suarez performance with moments of brilliance but without the goal to show for his efforts as is so often the case. Set up Shelvey in the first-half after nutmegging Petrov and after the break he hit the underside of the bar when he looked certain to score having dispossessed Dunne and side-stepped Collins. Saw a brilliant chip hit the post as the ball would just not go in for him.
Recalled to the starting line-up the Welshman did not disappoint even if he was booked for taking out Hutton. After tapping in the opener he took the corner which saw Skrtel score the second. In the second-half he set up Agger and Suarez in what was an exceptional performance.
- 33 A. Marshall
- 21 C. Clark
- 24 Carlos Cuéllar
- 35 D. Johnson
Brought on for Heskey with Villa being over-run in midfield. He brought some stability to the middle but could not create much beyond a late shot over the bar.
- 36 G. Burke
With Bent and Agbonlahor out he got his chance to come on late but did little to threaten Reina's goal
