Was forced to make a couple of fine saves in the first-half, the first from Louis Saha’s low nod at the Irishman’s bottom corner and the second a wild clearing header by Warnock that angled at his own net, forcing Given to save brilliantly with an instinctive stop. Was outdone by Anichebe for Everton’s equaliser and sent the wrong way as the striker tricked him.
A decent showing by the Scot who had a part to play in Villa’s goal, crossing in the ball for Ireland. Made a good round of tackles and played the ball out of danger numerous times.
Had a few problems marking on occasion, but was incredibly strong in the tackle and made himself very hard to get past at the heart of the Villa defence.
A quiet outing from the young midfielder, passing well, but needed to get involved more often and keep the ball moving in the right direction for the hosts.
The Irishman’s positioning could have been better at times, but made a few courageous tackles to help the hosts.
Ran well down the flanks, operating efficiently with Agbonlahor and Clark on the left. However, the full-back could've put Villa on the back-foot after heading wildly towards his own net, forcing Given to keep the supposed clearance out with a brilliant save. Allowed Anichebe to pull through and score the equaliser.
Was a little weak on the ball at times and was bossed around on occasion by Fellaini, but made decent passing moves and kept the ball moving for the Villans. Got the ball to Bent superbly for the goal.
Looked lively on and off the ball, running efficiently down the right and popping in passes frequently for Bent and strike partner Agbonlahor, but in the end his efforts weren’t enough.
Was given a prime chance in the opening moments to test Tim Howard from a free-kick and took it well, forcing the American to get down and punch his well struck shot away. Passed well, but in the end couldn’t make the difference on the day.
The livelier of the two strikers for Villa who had a good couple of chances to get a goal of his own, but good saves from Howard denied him.
Was pretty quiet in terms of goal-mouth action, but was in the right place at the right time for Villa’s opener, slotting the ball in confidently after collecting at the front-post.
Made a fine save early on, keeping out a good free-kick from Petrov that could have been more dangerous. Agbonlahor’s long distance effort in the same half was also kept out well at the far post. Was let down by his defenders during the opener for the hosts but could have done better to secure his front-post.
Made a very positive start in his first appearance in the Everton line-up and made up for the absence of Distin. The 20-year-old tackled well and was very calm when in possession of the ball.
Did a decent job for the majority of the fixture but had a hand in the Villa opener after failing to get goal-side properly of Darren Bent and allowed the striker to strike his effort past Howard
Not the best of performances from the full-back who is usually so involved within a game but struggled to influence his team’s efforts and should have done better to halt the ball’s progress during Villa’s opener.
Was effective in all three thirds of the pitch for the Toffees, distributing the ball well and getting forward when possible. Had a great chance early in the second-half with a close-range header that was kept out by Given.
Looked good after returning from injury and was athletic down the left for Everton. Crossed well and was dangerous on the counter.
A reasonable performance from the debutant; passed well, but didn’t do enough to fully influence the game on an attacking level.
Tackled well and passed out of the back decently, but the veteran looked a bit sluggish at times and allowed too many attacking plays from the Villans down his right-flank.
Didn’t look too dangerous for the majority of the match but Everton wouldn’t have got their equaliser without him after the American’s ball split the Villa defence to allow Anichebe to shoot past Given.
The Australian’s passing was a little mixed during the game, but when it worked for the attacker, he could really get things moving for the Toffees. Needed to do more in the way of creating opportunities for himself as well as his team-mates.
Was dangerous at times and had a good chance with a powerful header that was kept out well by Given in the first-half. Wasn’t as effective in the second, but was a usable man up top.

Came on late and didn't do too much to influence the game.
Arrived late in the game and didn’t add enough to help push for a last-gasp winner for the Toffees.

Very much the super-sub after coming on in the second-half to get the equaliser for Everton with some style, rounding Given partially to send the ‘keeper the wrong way before slotting the ball past the Irishman.
