Didn't cover himself in glory for the opening goal, parrying back into danger and took a couple of risks with the ball at his feet.
Kept Carroll under wraps for the majority of the game. Stuck tight when the striker wandered his way. Distributed the ball intelligently.
Showed his strength in the air up against Downing and covered Koscielny well in one instance as West Ham threatened at the back post. Could have done more to prevent Nocerino creating the first goal down his channel. Picked up an assist for a hopeful long ball into the box that Giroud finished superbly.
Strong in the challenge but had to cover Sagna on a couple of occasions and forced to defend wide areas more often than he'd like.
Troubled by Jarvis throughout and was fortunate his opponent didn't tumble over his swinging leg when clearing a loose ball in his box.
Not at his best tonight. Guilty of getting caught in possession, especially in the first half. This was a decent display from the Spaniard but he'll know he can deliver more.
Nominally played in front of Arteta and Kallstrom but had license to roam. Found Podolski for the first goal with an incisive pass. Came a whisker away from adding a third for Arsenal, fizzing his left-footed 20-yarder just wide of the far post.
Loose pass and foul on the breaking Armero resulted in a booking. Bit too cautious with his passing, especially one opportunity on the break with Podolski to his left. Subbed on 70 minutes for Ramsey.
Mixed performance from the Swede - won a few battles and was vocal alongside Arteta as the duo looked to protect the back four. Bit wayward with some of his passing but steady enough on his first start, although he was booked for a rash tackle on Nocerino.
Missed a tap-in on 15 mins before wasting a one-on-one attempting a cheeky flick over Adrian. After a pretty dismal first half, he electrified the home support with a fantastic goal - bringing the ball out of the sky and nutmegging Adrian to make it 2-1.
Delivered a brilliant low cross into the six-yard box for Giroud who criminally missed the ball. Flickered in and out of the game but took his first chance expertly, driving low across Adrian. Called the Spaniard into action again with a stinging free-kick before finishing off a fine move with a thunderous finish.
Had a mixed game with occasional lapses of concentration with the ball at his feet, interspersed with some solid goalkeeping. Made a couple of telling stops from Podolski but had little chance with the German's low strike. Unlucky with Giroud's finish as it flew between his legs from close range and had no chance with the third.
Makes a huge difference to Allardyce's team and looked as solid as a rock in patches. However, did lose Giroud on a number of occasions.
Caught out on a couple of occasions by Podolski but was solid for the most part, tackling well. Arsenal rarely got in behind him.
Tenacious at left-back, hounding anyone who came his way. Showed great pace when he got going and looks like a player made for the Premier League. Booked for the lightest of fouls on Giroud.
Formidable in the air but liable to get caught out on the deck. Lost Podolski for both goals.
Caused the Arsenal midfield problems early on as he marauded in behind Kallstrom and Arteta but his play in the final third was sloppy. Missed a fabulous chance from six yards out with the score 0-0, blazing over from Carroll’s pull-back. No relevence in the second 45, fading into a man just looking to snaffle knock downs from Carroll.
A busy and bustling presence in midfield - dovetailing nicely with Noble. Rarely got forward but when he did he assisted the opener - drawing Szczesny into a weak save before Jarvis headed in. Showed glimpses of quality on the ball.
Played off the right but his crossing was wayward throughout - rarely, if ever, delivered a threatening ball into the box. Passed poorly and was subbed with 12 minutes to go.
A tireless runner in midfield, worked well in tandem with Nocerino and won his fair share of tackles. Defensive side of his game is second to none but like his team-mates was guilty of sloppy passing.
Too honest for his own good as he beat Sagna to the ball in the box. Go down and West Ham would have had a penalty. Otherwise had a really good game up against Sagna and dragged Mertesacker into areas he was uncomfortable defending. Incredibly brave to head home with Koscielny’s boot flying at him but like many others, faded in the second half. Subbed.
His physicality caused the backline problems and he showed good quality in the box to pick out Diame with a cutback in the first half. Quickly became apparent that Arsenal could deal with his presence and he faded from the game. Subbed late on.
