A Night to forget for the much coveted 'keeper who had surely the worst game of his career. Should have done better with a few of the goals, will need to pick himself up for next week's trip to the Mestalla.
Nightmare for the experienced Peruvian. Was given the run-around by the Barca attack and scored a soft own goal.
Dreadful from the centre-half who failed to make any tackle of value. Will need to play a lot better if he is to stay in the team.
The right-back just did not kow what to do with the movement of Barca's attack. Lacked pace badly.
The African midfielder could do nothing about the movement of Iniesta and Xavi in the first-half. Sadly for him it didn't get any better in the second half once the duo had been substituted.
Struggled big time. Completely outclassed in the middle and will need to pick it up next week.
Given the task of coming up against Messi in an unfamiliar position. It was always going to end in disaster. Barca identified the weakness and exploited it. Very cruel of Lillo to make the player play the whole 90 minutes.
The Argentinian midfielder was completely outclassed by the opposition and inexplicably gave the ball to Iniesta for Barca's second.
He failed to relieve pressure on his defence with his poor passing. Struggled with the movement of the Barca midfield.
The Swedish striker was non-existent up-front and failed to do anything noteworthy with the ball on the few occasions he saw it.
Not his best performance by any stretch of the imagination but was brighter than his team-mates. Forced an excellent save from Valdes with a volley.
The 'keeper was a spectator for the majority of the game but did make a brilliant save from a Piatti half-volley early in the second-half.
The Brazilian right-back was untested defensively so was allowed to play as a winger. Passed brilliantly and linked up very well with Messi and co.
Very solid debut for the youngster. Untroubled defensively so difficult to judge the player on his defending. However he played a superb long-ball for Pedro's goal, showing the technical ability of a future Barca star.
The centre-back was solid and dealt with everything he had to do with ease.
The left-back was allowed the space to show-off his attacking capabilities and particularly did well to force Acasiete to divert the ball into his own net with a great cross.
Brilliant game for the pacey winger who took his goal well. Consistently great and as usual linked up well with his fellow attackers, showing an interchangeability like no other team in the world.
The midfielder only played a cameo role, coming off at half-time with Iniesta but was his excellent self as usual. Controlled the tempo in the middle with no Almeria midfielder able to get near him.
Like Xavi, the midfielder was subbed at half-time with Wednesday's game against Panathinaikos in mind. However when on the pitch the playmaker was at his very best and even managed to get on the scoresheet with a well-taken goal.
As a defensive midfielder the Argentinian didn't have a lot to do but made sure he broke up every Almeria attack and kept the high tempo to Barca's game.
Great performance from the striker who was very unlucky not to get himself on the scoresheet. Great one-two for Messi's opener, created something everytime he touched the ball.
Man of the match. Are there enough superlatives in the world for this man? Another virtuoso performance from the Argentinian who made light-work of dismantling the Almeria defence. Six hat-tricks this year, can he make it seven in next week's El Clasico?
- 13 Pinto
- 3 Piqué
The midfielder did well when he came on, his passing was excellent and he always looked to get forward.
- 16 Busquets
Showed some great touches and skill in the second-half while being able to keep hold of the ball.
The 20-year-old was brilliant when he entered the game and showed great sharpness to score two against Alves. With this kind of form, Barca will surely be looking to give the youngster more game time.
