Not much more to say from me then, so I shall limit myself to bidding a fond farewell to all today's readers. I've been Daniel Edwards, and I shall join you for the next one. A pleasure, as always.

As we previously mentioned, that win sets Barcelona up with a last-16 match against Cordoba, the first leg of that tie scheduled for December 12. You can enjoy Los Cules back in La Liga on Saturday, when they host Athletic.

The kids are alright for Barcelona, it would seem. After those early hiccups, the likes of Tello, Roberto and the very promising Deulofeu came alive and gave Alaves a torrid second 45. Let's not forget Villa either, who carried the attack and recorded two excellent goals.

90′ +2
And that's all she wrote. Barca stumbled early on, but came back strongly and in the end fully merited a 3-1 victory that sends them into the last-16 with the commanding margin of 6-1.

90′ +1
This Deulofeu is a bit special, he waltzes through the Alaves defence in an almost Messi-like fashion, but just fails to get the pass away to Villa.

90′
There will be two minutes added in Camp Nou.

89′
Barca are finishing this game camped in the Alaves half, looking for a final flourish.

88′
Deulofeu certainly doesn't lack a bit of ambition. The kid tries an outrageous lob from wide on the right, that sends Herrera sprawling before landing on the roof of the net.

87′
Just to remind readers, Barcelona's next Copa del Rey clash will be with Cordoba, assuming nothing incredible happens in these last five minutes. The Blaugrana's next opponents downed Real Sociedad 4-2 on aggregate.

85′
Manu Garcia advances and has Asier in the middle, but cannot find his man: Song is again on hand to deny the Basques.

84′
More beautiful play from the quicksilver Deulofeu, who skips through the middle. The teenager just ran out of space, however, and Herrera cleans up.

83′
Guzman wriggles free down the right and is clear on goal, but Song saves the day with a great intervention as the Alaves man shot.

82′
By my count, Fabregas' entry means that Vilanova has now used 11 graduates of the Barcelona youth system in this game. Quite a feat.

81′
Montoya breaks forward and tries to find Villa, but the ball is just too long. Not sure if Agustin meant to leave the cross or if it was a miscue, but the result all the same is a goal kick for Alaves.

80′
Substitution Jonan García Llamas

79′
Substitution Carles Puyol Cesc Fàbregas

79′
The shaggy-haired veteran Puyol comes off, and Cesc comes into the action. The captain's armband will be worn by Pinto for the last 10 minutes.

78′
After that shaky start, Barca's second string have really come into their own in the second half and are set to record a comfortable, deserved victory. Just more proof of the great work carried out at La Masia.

76′
Deulofeu tries his magic, bamboozling Rubio with some stepovers on the left. He cannot shake the right back though.

75′
There is another change for Barcelona, meanwhile. Adriano comes off, to be replaced by Planas.

74′
Barca had a 3 on 2 there when Tello broke, but with two men waiting in the middle the youngster could not beat his marker with the cross. Corner, which comes to nothing.

73′
Substitution Adriano Planas

72′
Determined play by Rubio almost opens up the attack for Alaves, and the ball is worked back into the middle and to Jaume. The midfielder opens up to shoot, but it's high, wide and not so handsome.

70′
The Barcelona crowd are now enjoying every minute, and no wonder. Villa sends Herrera scrambling with a low shot from 35m out, but it flies just wide of the right post.

68′
Substitution Jonathan Dos Santos Gerard

68′
A first change for the Blaugrana, Dos Santos comes off for Deulofeu.

67′
Substitution Luismi Guzmán

67′
Substitution Viguera Barahona

67′
Tello is everywhere now, and goes for goal when the visitors give the ball away in their own half. No danger though, as it flies over the bar.

66′
With the game out of reach, Alaves decide to shuffle their hand and make two substitutions. Viguera and Luismi the pair who are sacrificed.

65′
Thiago almost succeeds in playing through Tello with a chipped pass, but Hernandez just gets his head to the ball and clears. Tello is getting into some very decent positions as the Alaves defence loses some of its prior intensity.

63′
A brilliant pearl of wisdom courtesy of the good people at ESPN, who have informed us that Barca midfield enforcer Song has no less than 28 siblings!!!

61′
And the Argentine shows his quality with the ball, launching a 60m pass for Tello. The ball evades the youngster, but there was nothing wrong with that effort.

60′
Great stuff from Mascherano, who comes in strongly to rob Rubio when the right back was threatening wide on the right.

58′
Goal David Villa
GOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!!! This game has suddenly exploded!!! Tello breaks through onside and unselfishly squares for Villa, who slides in to finish and make it 3-1.

57′
GOOOOOOO... NO!!!! Luismi thinks he has restored parity with a simple close-range finish, following the cross from the left. He looks onside, but the linesman disagrees and, to the chagrin of Alaves, rules out the equaliser.

56′
Goal David Villa
GOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!!! A beautiful hit by Villa, who guides the free kick past Herrera to put Barca 2-1 up.

56′
Now that surely is game over. Who needs Messi at dead-balls when the ex-Valencia man can deliver quality like that?

55′
Yellow Card Jonan García

54′
Manu Garcia earns himself a booking, chopping down Tello just outside the area. A dangerous free kick here for Barca.

53′
More possession from Barca, but the ball is pinging from one touchline to the other with little penetration. The magic of Messi and Xavi in the final third is sorely missed.

51′
Villa again, this time in the area after good work from Tello. El Guaje is crowded out, but it's a corner.

49′
Villa turns and hits a fairly aimless ball upfield, easily claimed by Herrera. Remains to be seen if the forward will be given the full 90 minutes here.

48′
An early corner for Barcelona, Dos Santos hits it past everybody and Alaves are back with the ball.

47′
No changes on either side during the break, can Alaves once again give the home team a scare here?

46′
Hey, ho, and away we go. Barcelona kick off the second half, still three goals to the good against Alaves.

Let's have a quick look forward to the weekend while we wait for the second half. A mouthwatering game for Barcelona, who take on Marcelo Bielsa and Athletic Bilbao at Camp Nou, in a replay of 2012's Copa del Rey final.

The Barca kids, meanwhile, have so far done what needs to be done and little else; cruising towards the last 16 of the Copa del Rey. Aside from Adriano and perhaps Thiago, however, few of the men out there have done much to suggest they should be playing a more active first-team role.

Alaves seriously threatened to get back into this tie at 1-0, but Adriano's goal deflated the Segunda Division side once again and they appear to have slipped into damage limitation mode again, with bodies behind the ball in mass.

No injury time to be played here, we go straight to the halftime break with the score level at 1-1.

44′
This first half is winding to a close with Barca stroking the ball across the field, and Alaves lying deep in wait of an error. The home team are in little rush to advance, but Tello threatens on the right before hitting his cross out of play.

42′
Seven defenders face Barca on the edge of the Alaves area, as Tello tries to squeeze through. The balance of power in this game is edging back towards the hosts.

40′
Alaves looked set to break on the halfway line when Thiago was robbed. They didn't reckon with Mascherano though, and the Argentina's strong tackle restored the ball to the Blaugrana.

38′
Montoya is still failing to convince, the right back is caught in possession and is forced to concede a foul to get out of danger. Alaves are not giving up.

36′
This is more like it from Barca, who have recovered well from a tense 15 minutes following Alaves' opener. One of the old heads in the team, Adriano led the way converting an excellent team goal.

35′
Goal Adriano

35′
GOOOOOOOOOOOOL BARCELONA!!! Beautiful stuff from Adriano who plays a neat one-two with Thiago to go clean through. Herrera advances, but the Brazilian is unfazed and slides the ball home to level the match.

33′
Tello and Roberto combine on the right, but Sergi cannot reach his team-mate's pass and it's a goal kick.

31′
Villa does well on the left flank, leaving his marker behind and advancing on Herrera. The goalkeeper does well to block, but there was no-one in the middle for David.

29′
Adriano this time from distance, and he forces the save from Herrera. The keeper's fists put the ball safely out of danger.

27′
Sergi Roberto tries his luck, and the resulting deflection falls directly in Villa's firing line. The offside flag is raised, although El Guaje was clearly onside when his colleague let rip.

25′
The young Mexican Jonathan Dos Santos tries to get Barca going with a nice ball to Tello. The striker looks to turn his marker and break free, but there is no way through.

23′
Impudent stuff from Javi Hernandez, who nips the ball round Villa as the last defender and carries on his merry way. Not too many do that in Camp Nou!

21′
There is a new life in the Basque team, who are chasing their illustrious rivals across the field and going forward with purpose. Another goal before half-time could make for a very interesting second 45.

19′
Unbelievable!! A big, big let-off for Barca. Neither Montoya or Pinto want a high ball, and it almost falls for Alaves' Manu Garcia with the keeper far out of goal. They are saved, however, by the linesman's flag.

18′
Really shoddy work at the back there from the hosts. Adriano was caught dawdling with the ball and forced into a rushed clearance, and Montoya was equally in his own dream world to let the No. 9 steal in. 3-1 now, we have a cup tie ladies and gentlemen.

17′
Goal Viguera
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!!!! DE ALAVES!!!!!! What a shock, Adriano gives the ball away cheaply and is punished as Miki crosses to the far post. Viguera is there, and nods gleefully into the net to bring this tie to life.

14′
Oooh that wasn't bad! From nowhere Miki releases a half-volley from deep, that forces Pinto into his first save of the night. The keeper is more than equal to the effort.

13′
Brilliant control of the ball around Alaves' box by the home team, although the final killer ball was not forthcoming. Villa had a glance at goal but was shut out by Agustin, and the Basques now have the ball for what feels like the first time in five minutes.

11′
Hmm, replays from the Song incident suggest a fairly blatant use of the forbidden limb from the midfielder. Barca were a little bit lucky there.

10′
Villa, who was a doubt before kick-off, looks sprightly and tries a shot from deep. It strikes his marker, and Herrera in goal is on hand to prevent the corner.

9′
Yellow Card Jaume Delgado

8′
The names might not be too familiar to some, but this is definitely a Barcelona team. The short passing, the neat flicks and the overlaps out wide - the kids have been paying attention to the antics of Messi, Xavi and Co.

7′
Great play by Montoya, who retrieves a seemingly lost ball on the goalline and squares. Corner for Barca, but Alaves clear.

6′
A nice little one-two between Adriano and Villa on the left leaves the Brazilian with space and he drives across the goalmouth. There's no-one home, however, and Alaves breathe again.

4′
A whisper of a penalty there for Alaves. Song goes to ground in the box to thwart Luismi, and the ball appeared to flick up and strike his arm. Not given, and it would have been an extremely harsh decision.

3′
Barca settling straight into possession here, and Sergi Roberto gets into a decent position in the box but is crowded out.

1′
And we're off! Alaves get us underway as they begin their very own mission impossible against Barca's kids.

And now for our visitors to Camp Nou: Sergio Herrera; Oscar Rubio, Agustin, Luciano Gonzalez, Javi Hernandez, Manu Garcia; Jaume, Miki, Jonan, Luismi; Viguera.

We're creeping ever closer to kick-off, so let's take a look at the teams. Barca first, naturally: Pinto; Montoya, Mascherano Puyol, Adriano; Dos Santos, Thiago, Song; Tello, Villa, S. Roberto.

Any thoughts, opinions or predictions you might have on the upcoming match, please send them to @Goal_Intl on twitter. If I work out how to use twitter, I might even include a few in this Live!!

Blaugrana coach Tito Vilanova has taken the opportunity to rest almost his entire first team, with only a handful of survivors from the side which took on Levante at the weekend. It's down to the kids, then, to guide them into the last 16.

The competition holders are sitting pretty with a 3-0 lead from the first leg, and will hope to make it through to the next round against Cordoba with little trouble. This is football though, and of course we never know until the final whistle blows.
