    Roy Carroll

Assured in coming off his line and claiming catches and had no chance to stop Rosicky's clinical finish.

  • Giannis Maniatis

    3.00

    Giannis Maniatis

Tried to be aggressive and break up play to mixed effect in midfield, occasionally leaving the Olympiakos defence unprotected and vulnerable to counterattacks, but bundled home their equaliser from close range.

  • P. Contreras

    P. Contreras

Looked like he might struggle to deal with the pace Arsenal offered but generally did well to keep the attackers in front of him and anticipate and block penetrative passes.

  • Vasilis Torosidis

    3
    3.00

    Vasilis Torosidis

Supported Abdoun to good effect when he attacked down the left but created some big gaps at full-back which Arsenal often attacked into and might have exploited more.

  • Konstantinos Manolas

    3.00

    Konstantinos Manolas

Aerially strong, winning the header that led to Maniatis' equaliser, and successfully kept Chamakh at bay and in less threatening positions.

  • Paulo Machado
    7
    2
    3.50

    Paulo Machado

Drifted in and out of the game as most of Olympiakos' attacking play came down the left. But he did come close with a header and delivered one superb cross which Djebbour should have converted.

  • Ljubomir Fejsa
    4
    3
    2.50

    Ljubomir Fejsa

Made the occasional break forward but the only time he really got into a decent position, he stabbed an awful shot into the side netting. Replaced by Fuster in the second half.

  • Drissa Diakité

    Drissa Diakité

Sometimes clumsy in dangerous positions, gifting a golden chance to Ramsey that the Welshman squandered early on. But usually kept his winger at bay thereafter and made the occasional foray forward.

  • Leandro Greco
    5
    1
    3.50

    Leandro Greco

Didn't grab the game by the scruff of the neck in the position behind the striker, but some of his touches were delightful and helped Abdoun move into dangerous positions.

  • Djamel Abdoun

Djamel Abdoun Top of the Match

Easily Olympiakos' biggest threat. His dribbling was too much for many of the Arsenal players to deal with and his passing was penetrative too. Forced Szczesny into a couple of testing saves.

  • Rafik Zoheir Djebbour

    2.00

    Rafik Zoheir Djebbour

Had little joy in forcing Vermaelen into a mistake and squandered the one good chance he did get when he headed wide from close range.

Substitutions

    Ariel Miguel Ibagaza

Added to the Olympiakos midfield late in the game.

  • David Fuster

    3.00

    David Fuster

Looked bright in the hole, bringing Paulo Machado into the game more by drifting to more of a right-sided position after Greco had normally played on the left.

  • Konstantinos Mitroglou
    11
    3
    3.50

    Konstantinos Mitroglou

Another goal threat for Arsenal to think about and almost immediately made the difference after replacing Abdoun. Guided a low, curling shot beyond Szczesny from 20 yards.

  • Wojciech Szczesny
    55
    12
    3.00

    Wojciech Szczesny

Repelled everything that came his way, although most of his saves were routine ones. Usually kept a firm grip on the ball but parried to safety when he needed to. Saw out one difficult period when Olympiakos equalised with a couple of good saves that had him stretching. His visibility seemed to be impaired when Mitroglou shot across him because he was late reacting.

  • Thomas Vermaelen
    46
    13
    3.00

    Thomas Vermaelen

His positioning for the first goal was poor, however the Belgian was strong at the back, dealing with the threat of Djebbour, who looked to play on his tail and sniff out chances in the box. Won plenty of headers and made an important interception to cut out a cross Djebbour would have converted in the first half.

  • Sébastien Squillaci
    7
    68
    2.00

Sébastien Squillaci Flop of the Match

Targeted by Olympiakos and he looked shaky. Struggled to deal with Abdoun's pace and was forced into some cynical fouls to stop Olympiakos attacks. Failed to mark Paulo Machado, who drew a save from Szczesny with his header before the hosts went on to score from the subsequent corner.

  • Carl Jenkinson
    12
    40
    2.00

    Carl Jenkinson

Did not have a whole lot of support and struggled to deal with the interplay between Torossidis, Greco and Abdoun. Was lucky to see Djebbour miss the target after he got behind him to meet a cross.

  • Tomas Rosicky
    106
    3
    3.50

    Tomas Rosicky

Had a strong first half before being replaced by Arshavin at the break. The most composed Arsenal midfielder in possession and calmly swept home Gervinho's pass to give the Gunners the lead from just inside the penalty area.

  • Aaron Ramsey
    7
    88
    2.50

    Aaron Ramsey

Showed some nice touches and movement in midfield but seemed to freeze as soon as he got near the opposition penalty area. Fluffed one superb chance early in the first half.

  • Francis Coquelin
    24
    35
    2.50

    Francis Coquelin

Did not really provide adequate protection for Jenkinson or Squillaci. Could have anticipated that Vermaelen and Meade were holding up better on the left side than their partners across from them and given them more defensive help as a result.

  • Jernade Meade
    85
    8
    3.50

    Jernade Meade

Confident at left-back, showing that he was not afraid to play his way out of trouble and hold on to possession. Made some strong tackles and did not give Paulo Machado too much space to play in.

  • Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
    13
    50
    2.50

    Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Scrapped out a good chance early on but was disappointing thereafter. His control often let him down at vital times and he was susceptible to running the ball into difficult areas.

  • Gervinho
    10
    74
    3.00

    Gervinho

Had been largely frustrating in his decision-making and final ball until he did well to turn back and pick out Rosicky for the opening goal. Continued to get himself into good positions but struggled to consistently turn his running into good chances.

  • Marouane Chamakh
    19
    54
    2.50

    Marouane Chamakh

Provided a target for Arsenal and tried to do the right things, laying the ball off for midfielders and winning headers, but his touches were too frequently very clumsy.

Substitutions

  • Martin Angha

    Martin Angha

Replaced Meade at left-back late in the game.

  • Andrey Arshavin
    75
    10
    3.00

    Andrey Arshavin

Added some quality to the Arsenal attack, keeping hold of the ball better than many of his team-mates, but headed one good chance well over the crossbar.
