Serie A Round 32 Results: Fiorentina edge past Atalanta to maintain top-three hopes as Roma hang on against Torino

This weekend marked a year since Piermario Morosini's passing, as Siena all-but-ended Pescara's top-flight status while the bragging rights were shared in the Derby della Lanterna

PESCARA 2-3 SIENA

Siena all-but-consigned Pescara to relegation after they rescued a late 3-2 victory over their fellow strugglers on Saturday - despite initially blowing a two-goal lead.

On 14 minutes, Alessio Sestu's scrappy clearance found the head of Angelo to break the deadlock, before the winger played provider again 20 minutes later, with Damiano Zanon's shin being the unlucky party.

However, the Delfini staged an unlikely comeback early in the second half through Mervan Celik, who swept up a rebound from Giuseppe Sculli's strike, and Eugenio Togni's bent free kick.

But disappointment was to be in store for Pescara as Innocent Emeghara coolly wrapped up a quick-fire counterattack with injury time fast approaching to push Siena out of the relegation places.

The hosts, however, extend their run of defeats to eight and fall nine points adrift with only five matches remaining.

ATALANTA 0-2 FIORENTINA

Fiorentina delivered the goods on Saturday after they brushed aside an in-form Atalanta 2-0 to move just three points behind the last Champions League berth.

Substitute Adem Ljajic won the Viola a penalty midway through the second half when his strike ricocheted off Guglielmo Stendardo's hand, allowing David Pizarro to pick his spot from 12 yards out.

And the victory was sealed not long after as a Juan Cuadrado's inch-perfect through ball was latched onto by Marcelo Larrondo who also came off the bench to fire a left-footed finish past Andrea Consgili.

PALERMO 1-1 BOLOGNA

Stefano Sorrentino's howler cost Palermo a third straight win and safety for another week as Bologna snuck in for a 1-1 draw with the Sicilians.

Ater just five minutes, a revitalised Josip Ilicic played an acute one-two with Fabrizio Miccoli before bending home an exquisite finish from the edge of the box.

However, the former Chievo goalkeeper was to play villain for the afternoon as he grossly misjudged Michel Morganella's back-pass to gift Manolo Gabbiadini a simple tap-in.

Palermo fall back into the relegation places with a two-point deficit, but Bologna now move 10 clear of the bottom three and look to have secured survival.

CHIEVO 0-0 CATANIA

A bore draw was witnessed at the Bentegodi on Sunday as neither Chievo not Catania could find the breakthrough.

Both sides went into the match with little to play for - having achieved mid-table spots this season - and, as expected, a scrappy affair was to be the order of the day in Emilia-Romagna.

However, Chievo goalkeeper Christian Puggioni played a key role in preserving a point a piece after he was called upon in the second half to deny Pablo Barrientos and Gonzalo Bergessio.

Catania boss Rolando Maran spent 10 years with the Flying Donkeys as both player and assistant coach but it wasn't to be a memorable homecoming.

TORINO 1-2 ROMA

Roma leapfrogged Inter into sixth place and back in with a flagging shout of Champions League qualification next season thanks to a 2-1 win at Torino.

After just 22 minutes, Pablo Osvaldo finally ended his three-month goal drought when he met Federico Balzaretti's deep cross with his head, but Rolando Bianchi drew the Granata level in similar fashion nine later from a free kick.

Yet on the stroke of an hour, Erik Lamela rose to the occasion after he collected the ball on the edge of the box and sent home a fabulous curling strike to put the capital side within seven points of the top-three spots in Serie A.

GENOA 1-1 SAMPDORIA

Genoa needed a goal in the latter stages to earn a 1-1 draw with Sampdoria in the Derby della Lanterna and stay within touching distance of Siena in the battle for survival.

Midway through the first half, Eder's low free kick evaded everyone - including goalkeeper Sebastien Frey - to creep over the line, but the Blucerchiati suffered a blow through Andrea Costa's dismissal for a second bookable offence.

It gave the Grifone the initiative to rescue a point with only minutes of normal time left on the clock, and in some style too, as Lazio loanee Matuzalem unleashed a piledriver from midfield to share the bragging rights in Liguria.

PARMA 0-3 UDINESE

Udinese showed that they could do the business without talisman Antonio Di Natale in their ranks after they cantered to an impressive 3-0 away success over Parma.

The veteran striker missed the trip to the Tardini through injury, but it gave Luis Muriel the chance to steal the limelight - and so he did with a clinical right-footed finish past Antonio Mirante on 12 minutes.

Muriel then grabbed his second soon after when he deposited Dusan Basta's ball across goal into the back of the net, and Roberto Pereyra - the architect behind the Colombian's second goal - rounded off the victory on the hour mark.
