Callum McManaman escaped punishment from the Football Association for his knee-high challenge on Newcastle defender Massadio Haidara but the Wigan forward could be out of his side's clash with Norwich due to an ankle problem.

Albert Crusat and Ivan Ramis remain out with knee problems, while Ben Watson is still recovering from a broken leg.

John Ruddy could return from a hip injury to replace the suspended Mark Bunn in goal.

Alexander Tettey (knee) has an outside chance of featuring for the Canaries but fellow midfield duo Anthony Pilkington (hamstring) and Andrew Surman (knee) are still sidelined.

The Ivorian striker's debut season in England has been a promising one and he's provided a real cutting edge in the final third for Wigan. His pace and intelligent runs into the channels can unsettle any defence and that will be key to unlocking the Norwich backline, who aren't usually the best travellers.

Since arriving from Tottenham in the summer Bassong has become the cornerstone of Norwich's back four and has forged an excellent partnership with Michael Turner. The 26-year-old conceded the penalty that led to Sunderland's equaliser in Norwich's last away outing and will be desperate to atone for that error at the DW Stadium by shutting out Wigan.
Prediction
This is another must-win for Wigan who know they could move out of the relegation zone and still have the luxury of a game in hand by the time the final whistle is blown. With matches against Manchester City, Tottenham, West Brom and Arsenal, along with an FA Cup semi-final, on the horizon, this is an opportunity for Roberto Martinez's men to kick their survival bid up a gear against a side who've found it tough away from home this season.

Norwich are facing up a resurgent Latics side who've bagged four wins in their last five games in all competitions. Despite sitting comfortably in 12th, Chris Hughton will be keen to improve the seven-point cushion that his side have over the relegation trio, but the Canneries' dismal away form could be a stumbling block.
