Player Ratings: Swansea 3-1 Stoke

Jonathan De Guzman was the standout performer with two superbly taken goals while Matthew Etherington performed admirably despite a very poor display from the Potters

    Michel Vorm

Was rarely troubled but, when called upon he commanded his area with authority and dealt with the sporadic threats.

  • Ashley Williams

    Ashley Williams

Showed his usual assurance on the ball and dealt with the threat of Crouch with relative ease. Played a number of good long balls out of the back in the second half.

  • Garry Monk

    Garry Monk

Slotting in for Chico Flores, the 33-year-old performed well. He won more than his fair share of aerial duels against Walters and Crouch and was neat and tidy in possession.

  • Ángel Rangel

    2.50

    Ángel Rangel

Made countless overlapping runs past Hernandez and delivered two superb crosses into the box which should have resulted in a goal. However, was troubled by Etherington throughout the match.

  • Ben Davies

    Ben Davies

Walters never ran at him once in the whole match, allowing him to bomb forward and combine with Routledge on plenty of occasions. Took his first ever Swansea goal brilliantly, skipping past Huth before finishing with the calmness of a veteran forward.

  • Michu

    2.00

    Michu

Had a poor first half in front of goal, with two miscued volleys followed by a free header from close range which he really should have converted. Improved in the second period but will be disappointed not to grab a goal.

  • Pablo Hernández

    Pablo Hernández

Excellent first-half display; made runs inside from the flank, dragging makeshift defender Cameron in field and leaving space for Rangel to expose. Fared well in a number of physical battles against Cameron and Adam. Was brought off after an hour.

  • Wayne Routledge

    Wayne Routledge

Had the beating of Dean Whitehead all match long but too often followed it with a misplaced pass or a poor cross.

  • Jonathan De Guzmán

Jonathan De Guzmán Top of the Match

Had a great chance to give Swansea a first half lead but took his eye of the ball as a corner landed for him to volley but showed real quality with a free kick which doubled Swans' lead. Made a superb lung-busting run late on to support Graham and bag his second of the match. Battled well against Stoke's three central midfielders and rarely gave the ball away.

  • Sung-Yong Ki

    Sung-Yong Ki

Made a great start to the match with fine passing and interchange from his deep midfield role, but went off the boil later on in the match.

  • Itay Shechter

    Itay Shechter

Linked up with Michu on a couple of occasions and showed decent strength against Huth and Shawcross without ever having a goalscoring chance for himself. Replaced by Graham with 15 minutes to go.

Substitutions

    Leon Britton

Came on for Michu as Laudrup opted for another body in midfield to sure up the results.

    Roland Lamah

Made his Swansea debut after an hour, was confident on the ball but never managed to make an impression on the match.

    Danny Graham

Came off the bench with 15 minutes to go and showed real enthusiasm in his performance. His touch to set up De Guzman's second goal was sublime.

    2.00

    Asmir Begovic

Showed good handling when called upon from corners and free kicks but never really had to make a save in the first half. Not much he could to about Ben Davies' goal.

  • Geoff Cameron

    1.50

    Geoff Cameron

Deployed as a makeshift left-back, he was run ragged by Pablo Hernandez in the first half and continually dragged out of position. The second half started slightly better despite his side conceding twice.

  • Robert Huth
    1
    2
    2.00

    Robert Huth

Had a solid first half, keeping Schecter relatively quiet, but allowed Davies to skip past him far too easily for Swansea's goal early in the second half.

  • Ryan Shawcross

    Ryan Shawcross

Had a confident first half against Schecter but lost his way in the second period once Swansea cranked up the tempo.

  • Glenn Whelan

    Glenn Whelan

Anonymous afternoon for the Irishman. Spent the entirety of the game chasing shadows without making any significant contribution to the game.

    Steven N'Zonzi

Did what was asked of him by Tony Pulis, in denying Ki and De Guzman time on the ball. A well-disciplined performance considering he spent most of the afternoon chasing the ball.

  • Charlie Adam

    Charlie Adam

Frustrating afternoon for the Scot; he never really got on the ball to influence the match. Combined well with Etherington on a few occasions. Was hauled off after an hour.

  • Dean Whitehead

Dean Whitehead Flop of the Match

Had a torrid time against Routledge who beat him going either side. Never improved after the break. A day to forget for the midfielder playing out of position.

  • Matthew Etherington

    2
    3.00

    Matthew Etherington

Stoke's only attacking threat, should have done better with a first half chance from a tight angle. Made a couple of errors in the first half which went unpunished.

  • Jonathan Walters
    1
    3
    1.50

    Jonathan Walters

Playing on the right-hand side, was more interested in helping Whitehead deal with Routledge, hardly made any attacking contribution. Lost out in a challenge with Davies for Swansea's opening goal.

  • Peter Crouch

    Peter Crouch

Cut an isolated figure up front and barely had a kick all game. Made way for Cameron Jerome after the hour mark.

  • Cameron Jerome

    Cameron Jerome

Introduced after 62 minutes, he missed a glorious chance to get Stoke back into the game when he somehow managed to turn a low cross over the bar from no more than two yards out.
