Norwich were the better of the two sides throughout, but Bunn still had considerably more to do than his opposite number. Inside the first minute he had to collect a poor Obertan cross after awful play from Bassong, while he also produced an excellent save from the same player. Had a lot less to deal with after the break and was worth his clean sheet.
A steady performance from the right-back as he proved effective at both ends of the pitch. At the back, he did not have to contend with much as Jonas seemed much more interested In defending against Snodgrass. Martin could have offered more support to Snodgrass in general, but he did well enough in other aspects going forward, crashing a great second-half strike against the post.
Looked uncomfortable early on against his former club as he allowed a long ball from Anita to bounce into the area, but luckily for him Gabriel Obertan is no stranger to a dreadful delivery. The Cameroon international improved a great deal as the match went on, and he put in a very commanding display against Papiss Cisse.
While Bassong had his hands full with Cisse, it was Turner’s job to either stop passes reaching the Senegalese striker, or sweep up if the ball got beyond Cisse. All in all, Turner did a good job, stepping up to make interceptions several times and always offered support to Bassong if he looked like he needed it.
The Spaniard has proved to be an excellent signing for Norwich so far this season and he did well again against Newcastle, defending well and helping give Mathieu Debuchy a debut he will want to forget.
The former Leeds man has been dribbled past more than any other player in the Premier League so far this season and up against Marveaux he had a tough afternoon again, with the tricky Frenchman twisting and turning he way past the Norwich midfield more often than not. His use of the ball was poor at times too, too regularly conceding possession.
An uncharacteristically quiet outing from Snodgrass today. In open play he rarely got past his marker Davide Santon, and his set-piece deliveries were surprisingly poor. He improved a little in the second half, getting himself involved considerably more, but it was still a day to forget for him really.
Out of the two Norwich wingers, Pilkington seemed to have the tougher of the matches ahead of him as he faced France international right-back Mathieu Debuchy. However, the former Huddersfield man was a constant nuisance, dropping deep, getting beyond the defender, cutting inside and crossing. Debuchy had few answers.
The Irishman can’t really get a look-in at international level, but judging by his continued Premier League form it is a wonder he is not the first name on Giovanni Trapattoni’s team sheet. Against Newcastle the pint-sized playmaker was everywhere in attack and the Newcastle backline struggled to deal with him all afternoon.
Early on the Norwegian was excellent, putting his foot in and making tackles continuously, while he charged forward like a man on fire, too. As the match went on he became more grounded, sitting deeper in midfield and showcased some pretty awful passing at times. However, he broke up Newcastle attacks fairly well.
The Canadian forward made a rare Premier League start, just his fourth of the season, but he certainly showed glimpses of why he deserved a chance. A great deal of his hold-up play was excellent, bringing the ball down before laying it off to team-mates, and his energy made sure the Newcastle defence never had a moment of rest.
Replaced Snodgrass for the final 15 minutes or so, but he was not involved a great deal as Norwich generally attacked down the left.
Came on for the tiring Jackson with 20 minutes left, but apart from a late header he had little influence, with Norwich's deliveries leaving a lot to be desired.
The Netherlands international had very little to do in the the first half, as for all Norwich’s threatening build-up play they hardly registered a shot. However, after the break he had a lot more to do and effectively won Newcastle the point with a few very important saves.
Although the presence and movement of Jackson proved a bit of a headache for the homesick Argentine at times, overall he had a good game. When Jackson received the ball, Coloccini was careful not to get too close and foul him, simply shepherding him away from goal with effect.
A tough afternoon looked to ensue for Santon as he went up against the in-form Robert Snodgrass. However, the Italian who once frustrated Cristiano Ronaldo for 90 minutes put in a very sound display against the Norwich winger, allowing him very little space and kept him at bay throughout.
Seemed to pass the responsibility of Jackson over to Coloccini, but that seemed a good decision as Coloccini generally dealt with him well. Williamson spent most of the match sweeping up anything that got through, and as well as chucking his weight about a bit, he put in a decent display. Krul rarely looked in danger.
Versatility may be regarded at Perch’s greatest asset, and he proved an effective covering midfielder today, too. Sat alongside Anita, Perch was the one tasked to sit particularly deep and help out in defence if needed, and he did so well, preventing what would have been a certain goal in the first half by poking the ball away from Hoolahan in the area.
The Frenchman was making his debut following a £6 million move from Lille, and he was certainly given a tough introduction to the Premier League. Often having to deal with Garrido, Hoolahan and Pilkington, Debuchy was getting the run-around.
The more advanced of he and Perch, and he generally just kept moves ticking with quick passes, rarely taking more than a couple of touches before offloading the ball. On several occasions he played very accurate long balls towards Cisse, but the forward made little from them and Anita eventually stopped.
Offered very little threat as in an attacking sense, but he should be commended for his work rate and continuous support to Santon, getting back to help snuff out the threat of Snodgrass whenever possible.
The tricky Frenchman showed flashes of ability and flair, but he struggled to stamp his authority on the match against the physically imposing Tettey.
Looked dangerous at times in the first half, winning a few headers and putting Bassong under pressure, but as the match went on the defender began to win the battle, and rather comfortably in the end. Cisse looks a shadow of the player he was last season.
Began in imposing fashion, seeing a lot of the ball and forcing Bunn into a good stop. However, his crossing was dreadful and his passing was not much better. Eventually hooked for the returning Cabaye.
Came on with about 30 minutes to go, but most of that period saw Norwich pressing for a winner, therefore he was not as influential as he or Newcastle would have liked. However, half-an-hour under his belt is a good sign.
Saw the last five minutes or so, but barely touched the ball.
