Player Ratings: QPR 1-2 West Brom

Rob Green's own goal compounded a poor first hour from the hosts after Chris Brunt had given the Baggies the lead - enough to prevent a comeback despite Djibril Cisse's finish

Robert Green Flop of the Match

Opted to punch clear under little pressure in the opening stages, perhaps wary of the slippery conditions. Stood no chance with the opener. Scored an own goal in the second half as he wilted under pressure from Fortune and palmed a high ball into his own net. Probably a foul.

    Armand Traoré

Did very little that would suggest he is a long-term answer at left-back. Doesn't have the skill to be flicking the ball down the line, nor the decision-making ability to.

  • Anton Ferdinand

    Anton Ferdinand

Was fortunate not to score an own goal but otherwise looked the more accomplished of the centre-backs.

    Clint Hill

Headed just wide from a corner but otherwise didn't give a convincing display up against the powerful Lukaku. Almost equalised at the death but saw his downward header brilliantly saved by Foster.

    Fabio Da Silva

Began the game confidently but faded as the pressure told on the QPR defence. Struggled to find his rhythm and was subbed for Hoilett.

  • Adel Taarabt

    Adel Taarabt

Was searching for the space between the lines but was often crowded out by Mulumbu. Hit one free kick just wide and otherwise looked the hosts' best source of an equaliser. Broke well at times but found himself as the furthest man forward, stunting the threat of the counterattack.

  • Shaun Wright-Phillips

    Shaun Wright-Phillips

Flew past Mulumbu and Jones to set-up QPR's best chance of the opening stages, teeing up Mackie. Aside from this rare glimpse of his past, he drifted out of the game, much to the annoyance of the home fans.

  • Alejandro Faurlin

    Alejandro Faurlin

Couldn't impose himself on the game and looked to be struggling with an injury. Was replaced by Diakite in the second half.

    Stéphane M'Bia

Powered the first shot at goal inside two minutes but just couldn't curl it enough to trouble Foster. Attempted a similar effort later in the half that Foster saved well before he found room to thread through to Cisse for QPR's goal. Was booked for a foul on Long but otherwise was the hosts' best player.

  • Djibril Cissé

    Djibril Cissé

Had very little service but linked well with Taarabt when he could. Latched onto Mbia's through ball to score QPR's goal.

  • Jamie Mackie

    Jamie Mackie

Missed a glorious chance from Wright-Phillips' cross as he headed wide of the far post. Was cheered on from the stands but his direct running was to no avail in the end.

    Junior Hoilett

Entered play for Fabio with the side 2-0 down but his passing was wayward. Didn't contribute to any comeback.

  • Ben Foster

    Ben Foster

Made a good save from Mbia's drive moments after the goal and otherwise had a solid first half. Was beaten by a well placed finish but showed confident handling from the various other efforts that rained down from outside the box. Made a fantastic save in the dying stages to preserve his side's lead.

  • Jonas Olsson

    Jonas Olsson

Confident in possession and a rock at the back for the Baggies. He was dependable throughout and looked every inch the international centre-half he is.

  • Goran Popov

    Goran Popov

Struggled against Mackie for the time he was on, until injury curtailed his afternoon just after the half hour.

  • Gareth McAuley

    Gareth McAuley

Partnered Olsson to great effect. Though the pair were split by an Mbia through ball, they kept Cisse quiet for the majority of the match.

  • Billy Jones

    Billy Jones

Was turned inside out by Wright-Phillips in the opening stages but grew into the game. Was unlucky not to see his cross deflect off Ferdinand and in.

  • James Morrison

    James Morrison

Played off the left intelligently and almost scored on the stroke of half-time with a curling effort. Also volleyed just over and threaded a great ball into Lukaku. Was replaced late on.

Anchored the midfield alongside Mulumbu to good effect. Scored a fine goal with his trusty left foot and kept WBA ticking over.

Youssouf Mulumbu Top of the Match

The best player on the pitch. Returned to the first team and imposed himself on a rudderless QPR midfield. Timed his tackles well, intercepted the ball in dangerous areas and took care in possession, assisting Brunt for his goal.

  • Zoltán Gera

    Zoltán Gera

Not as prominent as he can be but although he missed a good first-time chance in the first half, he put in a solid effort throughout.

  • Romelu Lukaku

    Romelu Lukaku

An absolute giant of a striker and although the service in the first half wasn't the finest, when he did receive the ball he was clever with his link-up. Should have got on the scoresheet in the second half though as he was played in on goal twice. Both times he was denied by Green.

  • Marc-Antoine Fortune

    Marc-Antoine Fortune

Played off the right and though he had a quiet first period, he improved in the second, firstly slipping Jones in behind the defence before acting as the barrier Rob Green could not get past for the own goal.
