    Tim Krul

Did brilliantly to twice deny Lukaku when the Belgian was one-on-one, rushing sharply off his line and closing down the angles, could have done little to keep out the Belgian's header which was well placed and firmly hit.

  • Fabricio Coloccini

    3.50

    Fabricio Coloccini

Is effortless at times with his defending and did well to keep Lukaku quiet when the Belgian went up against him. Stamped his authority on the game early with two great interceptions and was solid throughout.

    3.00

    Davide Santon

Gave the ball away in a sloppy fashion several times in the opening minutes but regained his composure and even tested Foster with a 30-yard effort that required a fine stop from the former England man.

  • Danny Simpson

    Danny Simpson

Was given another Premier League start as he continues his recovery from injury and return to full fitness. Was rarely troubled by Dorrans but began to tire in the second half and was brought off for Cisse.

    Mike Williamson

Was routinely targeted by West Brom with balls over the top of him to test his lack of pace, but he regularly recovered well, is now considered Coloccini's first-choice partner and put in another good show.

    James Perch

Sat deep in midfield and shielded the back four superbly, the one occasion that the former Nottingham Forest man was caught out of position, Gera took full advantage to assist Lukaku's goal.

  • Yohan Cabaye

    1.50

    Yohan Cabaye

Played in an advanced midfield role but struggled to create much against the terrier-like Mulumbu, his growing frustration was in evidence mid-way through the second half as he snapped into Dorrans and was booked.

  • Hatem Ben Arfa

    Hatem Ben Arfa

Was at his creative best in the first half, giving Tamas absolute hell down the left wing, but struggled in the second period as Alan Pardew moved him into several different positions, with none bringing the best out of him.

  • Jonas Gutierrez

    Jonas Gutierrez

What he lacks in creativity, he makes up in commitment and spirit, filled three separate positions well during the 90, doing exactly what was required of him in midfield or defence.

Demba Ba Top of the Match

The Demba Ba of this time last year has returned in full so far this term. Missed a gilt-edged chance to open the scoring in the 11th minute but made no mistake when his next chance came, seizing upon MacAuley's ponderous play to smash home his seventh Premier League goal of the season.

  • Shola Ameobi

    2.50

    Shola Ameobi

Was stationed on the right wing in a 4-2-3-1 system but drifted infield often, set up Ba's goal with a towering flick-on and worked gamely until he was replaced in the second half.

Substitutions

  • Papiss Cissé

    Papiss Cissé

Replaced Simpson to prompt a tactical shuffle but failed to get a sniff of goal, until Ameobi's hopeful effort went in after being deflected by his back.

  • Gabriel Obertan

    Gabriel Obertan

Came on in the second period and showed his pace down the right but his delivery was often poor and killed any potential openings.

    Sammy Ameobi

Introduced when Ba went off injured and seemed to float around without direction, rarely getting involved, before hitting a late effort that deflected in off Cisse.

  • Ben Foster

    2.50

    Ben Foster

Could have possibly done better for Ba's goal, but the Senegalese striker's shot was fierce, leaving Foster only able to parry the ball into the net. Was completely helpless for the late winner.

  • Jonas Olsson

    3.00

    Jonas Olsson

Marshalled his defence well and is solely responsible for keeping the Baggies organised at the back. Beaten aerially by Ameobi and Ba on occasion but was by far the more impressive of West Brom's centre-backs.

  • Liam Ridgewell

    2.50

    Liam Ridgewell

Solid and unspectacular at left-back. Solid in defence and handled the threats of Gutierrez, Ben Arfa and Obertan well, but rarely ventured forward

  • Gareth McAuley

    1
    1.50

    Gareth McAuley

At fault for the game's opener, being only able to nod the ball up in the air, allowing Ba to slam home, and struggled against the forward's pace and power in a tough afternoon.

  • Sebastien Gabriel Tamaş
    0
    2
    2.00

    Sebastien Gabriel Tamaş

Completely failed to live with the pace and trickery of Ben Arfa down his flank in the first half and seem to almost accept that he would be beaten time and time again by the Frenchman, improved in the second period, using his physical dominance to better Ben Arfa and force him to the opposite wing.

  • James Morrison

    1
    2.50

    James Morrison

Buzzed around midfield and linked play well, but his usual threat was restricted slightly by his deeper role in midfield.

  • Youssouf Mulumbu

    3.50

    Youssouf Mulumbu

Handled Cabaye's threat well throughout, shadowing the Frenchman and shutting his game down well. Looked to get forward when he could and contributed well to several attacks.

  • Zoltán Gera

    1
    2.50

    Zoltán Gera

Struggled to get into the game for large swathes with James Perch proving difficult to shake off. Managed to find himself in space on one occasion and took full advantage, floating a perfect cross for Lukaku to equalise.

  • Graham Dorrans
    0
    1
    2.00

    Graham Dorrans

Was positioned on the left flank rather than his usual central berth and never really managed to get into the game fully. Substituted in the second half, not long after being crunched by Yohan Cabaye.

  • Romelu Lukaku

    Romelu Lukaku

Should have grabbed a goal in the first half, spurning two one-on-one chances but made amends for his lack of composure 10 minutes after half-time, rising to meet Gera's cross and plant a header low past Krul.

  • Peter Odemwingie

Peter Odemwingie Flop of the Match

Cut a frustrated figure out on the right flank and didn't seem to have the pace or invention to get the better of the energetic Santon, or Gutierrez once the Argentine switched to left-back.

Substitutions

  • Goran Popov

Replaced Lukaku after the Belgian had worked himself into the ground and put in a similar shift, but with no results.
