Player Ratings: QPR 1-1 Everton

Junior Hoilett's opener was not enough for the hosts as Sylvain Distin forced a Julio Cesar own goal to ensure that the points were shared in the Sunday afternoon kick-off

    Julio César

Punched well inside the first four minutes to help create the opener before making a comfortable save from Jelavic's free kick. Was unfortunate to see Distin's header rebound off the post and squirm under his body for the Everton equaliser. Distribution a bit off but his reflexes are far from rusty as he reacted well to parry Jagielka's close-range header.

  • Armand Traoré

    Armand Traoré

Looked resolute on the QPR left and competed well with Anichebe, a far bigger physical presence. Replaced late on by Onouha.

  • José Bosingwa

    José Bosingwa

Does not always appear the most popular figure and it's hard to see why, given the lack of minutes that he has had since his arrival in the summer. Did OK, though, pressing forward well and keeping the attacking duo of Baines and Pienaar relatively quiet.

  • Ryan Nelsen

    2.50

    Ryan Nelsen

Nearly doubled the hosts' lead but saw his header drift just wide. Went AWOL along with the rest of his defence for the equaliser and Jagielka chance before appearing to jump with a leading arm/elbow, sending Anichebe sprawling to the turf.

  • Samba Diakité

    Samba Diakité

His customary aggression almost got him into trouble in the early stages but seemed to temper it with a more calm assertive attitude. Plundered forward early in the second half and almost teed up Park for QPR's second goal. Picked up his traditional caution for a wise foul as Miralles looked to counter.

    Ji-Sung Park

Industry is more or less his middle name and the South Korean produced it in abundance. Linked well with his midfield and almost gave QPR the lead in the second half, sliding in on Diakite's low cross. Did tire as the game went on and noticebaly lost the will to track back.

  • Adel Taarabt

    Adel Taarabt

Was the source of danger, combining well with Zamora and Hoilett. Created the space for the latter's opener with an intelligent run across the defence. Did not bring his shooting boots with him but he was the spark for most of the first half before finding space restricted after the red card for Pienaar.

  • Esteban Granero

    Esteban Granero

Started brightly and dovetailed well with Diakite. Showed some exquisite touches and was a real thorn in Osman and Everton's side for much of the game. Put a lovely cross in for Nelsen to head wide in the first period. Just a lovely player to watch.

  • Stéphane M'Bia

    Stéphane M'Bia

Huge physical presence, though looked a little frustrated at not being in a position to carry the ball forward. Looks a player but was perhaps overly aggressive in the box and gave the visitors a couple of penalty shouts - both times for incidents with Jelavic. Deflected Mirallas' goal-bound effort over late on.

  • Junior Hoilett
    11

    3.00

    Junior Hoilett

Collected Julio Cesar's punch on the edge of his box and ran the length of the pitch before seeing his shot deflect off Baines and past Howard. Splits opinion in the stands. He can be fantastic but is often isolated and hounded out of possession. Forced Howard into a great low save on the 75th minute. Five minutes later, he was denied a blatant penalty when tripped by Coleman before forcing Howard into a fantastic diving save.

  • B. Zamora

    B. Zamora

Worked well with his back to goal and especially with Taarabt. Occupied the Everton centre-backs, giving Hoilett more room to operate. Rarely found space to turn and trouble Howard though and lost his way as the game went on.

    Djibril Cissé

Replaced Zamora much to the home fans' delight and looked lively in his cameo. Was caught offside when it looked like that he had sprung the trap.

  • Tim Howard

    2.50

    Tim Howard

Could do nothing about the deflected opener but caused a scare when he lost his footing moments later, almost allowing Hoilett in for his second. Made a stunning save from the Canadian in the late stages.

  • Leighton Baines

    Leighton Baines

The unfortunate defender to hang a leg out and see the 'block' deflect past his goalkeeper. His corner moments after the equaliser should have been tucked away by Jagielka. Not his finest game in a blue shirt and was summed up by a blazed free kick. That said, stayed resolute once his side were down to 10 men.

  • Phil Jagielka

Phil Jagielka Top of the Match

Crashed a header off the bar when he should have scored, but did his best work at the other end, taking a challenge to his upper body as he slid to block Park's attempt at goal. Almost grabbed Everton the lead again but saw his close range header repelled by Cesar. Made another fantastic block as Granero looked to find the winner in the final minute and this summed up a monumental display for the Toffees.

  • Sylvain Distin

    2.50

    Sylvain Distin

Saw his back-post header rebound off the post and then squirm under Cesar's body for the equaliser. Grew into the game and began to cope with Zamora better as the game went on.

  • Phil Neville

    1.50

    Phil Neville

Kept it neat and simple but often guilty of slowing the tempo when Everton needed to raise it to get back into the game. Not sure if the legs can carry him through a game in the middle of the park anymore.

  • Leon Osman
    1
    4
    2.00

    Leon Osman

Struggled to contain the elusive Granero and conceded a number of free kicks in his vain attempts to do so. Found the more physical midfield marshalled by Diakite tough to get by and could not create as much as he would, particularly after the sending-off.

  • Steven Pienaar
    2
    3
    1.50

Steven Pienaar Flop of the Match

Delivered the deep cross for the equaliser but not as prominent as he has been in the past as Park kept him occupied. Picked two yellow cards by the hour mark for fairly innocuous challenges. A harsh sending-off.

  • Seamus Coleman
    5
    0
    2.00

    Seamus Coleman

Industrious from right-back but could not support Anichebe as much as he wanted, given Taarabt's freedom to attack his flank. Was very lucky to avoid conceding a penalty with 10 to play.

  • Nikica Jelavic
    6
    1
    2.00

    Nikica Jelavic

Saw his free kick turned away by Julio Cesar in the first half and found the going tough against the physical Mbia. Went down twice in the box in the first half with the first shout for a penalty definitely holding some substance. Had one chipped effort in the second period but was kept relatively quiet by Mbia and Nelsen.

  • Kevin Mirallas
    4
    1
    2.00

    Kevin Mirallas

Started left before moving more centrally. He had a lively enough start before fading considerably. Did not appear to offer the visitors anything in the second half until a fierce drive looked to be heading in were it not for Mbia's block.

  • Victor Anichebe
    1

    2.00

    Victor Anichebe

Tried what he could from the right flank but found little joy before he took an almighty whack to the face when challenging Nelsen in the air. Seemed to take the wind out of his sails and was replaced early in the second half.

    Steven Naismith

Came on for Anichebe five minutes into the second half and was busy but rarely found when in promising positions.
