T. Walcott 77'
Carroll and Diame were perhaps unfortunate to be on the losing side this evening, but Santi Cazorla was the difference between the sides while Theo Walcott's introduction turned the tide in Arsenal's favour. He won't have done his chances of sealing an improved contract and striking role any harm. Also a first Premier League goal for Olivier Giroud, Gunners fans will undoubtedly hope that is a springboard for the Frenchman. Thank you all for keeping with us on Goal.com this afternoon. Keep your eyes peeled for all the reaction coming on site soon, and tweet @GoalUK with your thoughts on the game!
90' + 6'
Indeed, there is the full-time whistle!
90' + 5'
Matty Taylor loops a ball into the area that goes over Carroll and out of Jarvis, that will be the last chance of the match.
90' + 4'
Arsenal seeing this game out by controlling possession. The visiting fans are singing Santi Cazorla's name. The Spaniard has been a pleasure to watch today.
90' + 2'
It's taken 92 minutes, but I make that the first header Andy Carroll has not won today, Mertesacker gets above him. The England man has been totemic this evening.
90' + 1'
Cazorla again with a delightful ball into Giroud in the area but Jaaskelainen is quick off his line to smother. There will be five minutes of added time. Enough for a West Ham fightback?
Collins' header from the set-piece drifts across the area, with Carroll mopping up before feeding Taylor. The winger is given plenty of space and rifles an effort towards Mannone's near post but the Italian palms the ball away. Good save.
Arsenal are putting on a clinic in keeping possession here, they hold on to the ball for an extended period before Jarvis snaps into a tackle and bursts up the left before winning a corner from Jenkinson.
Yellow Card Matthew Taylor
Booking for Matt Taylor after he slides in on Arteta. The West Ham player's studs were showing and went over the ball. Maybe he can count himself lucky.
Arsenal look to see the game out now, Laurent Koscielny takes to field in place of Lukas Podolski, switching to a back three.
Assist Theo Walcott
Goal Santi Cazorla
GOALLL!!!! Game over! Cazorla nets a stunning goal! Walcott bursts infield from the right, riding a couple of challenges before prodding the ball to the Spaniard who takes a touch before bending a sumptuous shot into the top corner with his left foot. Jaaskelainen was helpless!
Attacking change for West Ham as they go two up front, with Carlton Cole replacing Diame, who has had a great game.
This is end-to-end stuff now with Walcott getting into the area but his shot goes for a corner that is unsurprisingly cleared. Arsenal work the ball back into the area and Mertesacker gets the ball at his feet before spinning and clipping a shot that goes behind off Collins. Giroud wins the ball in the air from the corner, but his header is too weak to trouble Jaaskelainen.
Glorious chance wasted by Nolan! Diame takes the ball away from Mertesacker with a great touch that falls to the midfielder but he smashes his left-footed shot over the bar from 15 yards. You'd expect him to score.
Yellow Card Theo Walcott
Another booking for a player embracing supporters in his celebration. Walcott the man going into the book. Not that he will mind, I wouldn't have thought.
Assist Olivier Giroud
Goal Theo Walcott
GOALLL!!! He wants to play as a striker and what a finish from Walcott! Arsenal break brilliantly with Giroud releasing the No.14, who holds his run perfectly before taking a touch and slotting the ball in at the near post. Arsenal have turned the game around!
Podolski again close. The ball bobbles around the box but sits up for the German, who rattles his shot against Nolan, and out for a corner that the midfielder climbs to head away. Set-piece delivery has been very poor for the Gunners today.
West Ham make their change, with Tomkins coming on and slotting straight in at right-back.
Podolski should score! The German gets a yard of space in the box but drives his low effort too close to Jaaskelainen, the Finnish keeper shovelling the ball out for a corner that is headed away by Reid.
Penalty shout turned down for Arsenal! Ramsey bursts into the box but goes down under Taylor's challenge, it appears the Welshman's heels were clipped!
It has been confirmed that Ricardo Vaz Te has sustained a dislocated shoulder. Meanwhile, the Hammers have more injury woes, with Guy Demel about to be replaced by James Tomkins after picking up a knock.
Mertesacker denies Nolan! The midfielder gets space in the box but rather than drive an effort across goal he cuts inside and is robbed by the telescopic leg of the German. He should have just had a shot!
Cazorla again close, Podolski gets to the byline before finding the Spaniard, but his shot is straight into Collins' midriff and cleared.
Close! Long ball hung into the Arsenal box is headed goalwards by Carroll, who beats Mannone in the air, fairly. The ball goes wide however, as the striker looks on in anguish. Arsenal again counter through Cazorla, but he loses his footing as he shoots and the ball squirts wide.
Chances for Arsenal! Demel overlaps down the right but Diame loses the ball and the Gunners zip down the empty flank. Podolski cuts the ball to Cazorla on the edge of the box but is shot is blocked by Walcott. The England man goes to retrieve the ball and backheels it across goal, with Giroud getting onto the end of it, but his effort on the slide hits the side-netting.
Free kick delivered by Taylor, but the ball is too short, and Arsenal manage to scramble the ball away fairly comfortably.
Ricardo Vaz Te
It appears Vaz Te has injured his right arm, possibly his wrist.
Another sub for the away side. Gervinho, who has been poor today, is replaced by Theo Walcott. Meanwhile, Vaz Te has picked up an injury after tumbling in his clash with Mannone, and is being stretchered off with Matt Taylor ready to come on for him.
Noble plays a clever ball inside Andre Santos, who has not had a great start, to Vaz Te. Mannone races off his line to smother the ball, receiving an accidental kick to the head from the Portuguese.
The game has become a touch scrappy. Demel powers past Santos, but Vermaelen covers across and boots the ball into the stand. The resulting throw-in is flicked down by Carroll to Jarvis, but the winger balloons his effort over.
Kieran Gibbs has been forced off with an injury. Andre Santos has been introduced as his replacement.
Diame has the ball 30 yards from goal and jinks his way past Arteta and Ramsey before feeding Nolan. The midfielder finds Carroll, whose effort is blocked onto the crossbar but play is pulled back with Nolan adjudged, correctly, to have been offside.
More home pressure as Vaz Te darts down the right before sending a deep ball that Mertesacker heads behind, under pressure from Carroll. The resulting corner is headed goalwards by Carroll but cleared by Ramsey. Arsenal launch a counter with Cazorla finding Podolski, who in turn feeds Gibbs but the left-back's cross is woeful and goes over Jaaskelainen's crossbar.
West Ham building pressure on the visitors. Nolan drifts out to the right before swinging a ball in towards Carroll that Ramsey does well to flick away. Jarvis retrieves the ball before feeding McCartney but the Ulsterman's return pass goes out of play.
Giroud, brimming with confidence from his goal, picks up the ball on the edge of the area and hits a shot on the swivel, that bobbles wide.
Gervinho is inches away from getting on the end of a ball in the box but West Ham clear. @AustinHesom is backing the Ivorian to be the difference in this one: "Gervinho will turn this one round for us."
Early pressure from the hosts results in a corner for West Ham, that Noble takes from the left, Mannone flaps at the ball but referee Dowd gives a foul with Nolan barging the Italian.
And West ham get the second period started.
The players are back on the pitch! The second half will get underway imminently, neither side have made a change.
And @OMG_Its_6ix agrees: "I think West Ham will win this! As long as Andy Carroll is still on the pitch."
@Mostechboy predicts a home win, though: "I see Arsenal first loss here."
@paulbrighty thinks the Gunners need a change to win this one: "The introduction of some fresh legs will increase the tempo for Arsenal. They need a win."
The Gunners have dominated the statistics so far, having 70 per cent of possession in the opening period, and firing in eight shots to West Ham's three. They have perhaps done well to limit the hosts to just one corner, while nearly all of their own eight have been cleared by just one man, Andy Carroll.
Olivier Giroud has his first Arsenal goal, however, which will be a big positive for Arsene Wenger. What do the Gunners need to complete their comeback here? Or can the hosts retake the lead and grab a win? Get in touch with me on Twitter @matthewgscott and have your say!
45' + 3'
And there's the half-time whistle! The teams go in all square at the break but Arsenal have been given plenty to think about by Andy Carroll.
45' + 2'
And they go close! Noble's high ball is nodded down by Carroll to Nolan, but the No.4 can't get his foot around the ball and his effort squirms across goal and wide.
45' + 1'
Yellow Card Gervinho
45' + 1'
Gervinho picks up Arsenal's first booking for triping Mark Noble down the left wing. Free kick in a good position for the hosts as a result...
Late pressure from Arsenal as Gibbs sprints forward with the ball before slipping the ball to Podolski, but Jarvis tracks back to clear the ball for a corner, that is cleared as far as Ramsey, but the Welshman's drive is blocked. There will be two minutes of added time.
West Ham go straight up the other end from kick-off but Arsenal manage to scramble the ball away with Carroll causing problems for Mertesacker again.
Assist Lukas Podolski
Goal Olivier Giroud
GIROUD GOAL!!! Superb finish from the Frenchman who scores after five barren hours of Premier League football. Podolski is released down the left and swings a perfect ball into Giroud who stretches out a leg and turns the ball into the net from six yards.
Arsenal have the ball in a dangerous position with Ramsey in the left channel, he tries to find Jenkinson on the opposite flank but overhits his pass and a good opportunity is wasted for the Gunners.
Carroll is absolutely dominating at both ends in this game. Every Arsenal set-piece has been almost magnetised towards him and cleared.
Yellow Card Winston Reid
Close for Giroud. Mertesacker stays forward and nods a cross down towards the No.12 but he just fails to connect and the ball drifts harmlessly out of play. Reid them picks up a harsh yellow card as Cazorla runs into him after losing the ball.
Arsenal with a little spell of possession with Cazorla again central. Gibbs is found on the left but his cross is nowhere near any of the targets in the area yet again. Demel then nicks the ball away from Podolski for a corner, but the set-piece is easily cleared.
It is Carroll on the end of it but Mannone saves! Arsenal's zonal marking completely fails with the England man getting a clear run on the ball, but he plants his header too close to the keeper. A warning sign for Arsenal. The ball is won back quickly by West Ham and a ball into the area is cleared bravely by Mannone, who also takes a bash in the face from Carroll for good measure.
Strong running from Demel down the right, but Podolski tracks him all the way, conceding the first corner of the game for the hosts. Carroll and Collins lurking...
An almighty round of head-tennis across the Arsenal area has Carroll causing mayhem at the heart of it, but referee Phil Dowd spots a foul in there, and the pressure is taken off the visitors.
Diame goes in late on Arteta, the midfielder was booked for his goal celebration, and he would have surely been carded were he not already on a booking. He's perhaps lucky to still be on the pitch.
Arsene Wenger doesn't have the best of records when he takes Arsenal to a team managed by Sam Allardyce. Big Sam's Bolton regularly got the better of the Gunners and the Frenchman has only beaten the Hammers' boss twice when visiting.
Effort from distance by Ramsey goes wide. The Welshman surges through the middle but his 30-yard shot goes beyond Jaaskelainen's left-hand post.
Arsenal looking to get back into the game immediately here. Jenkinson pushes on down the right, but Collins clears his curling cross away.
Yellow Card Mohamed Diame
Diame also picked up a booking for his celebration, as he hugged a couple of home fans over the barriers. Deserving...
Assist George McCartney
Goal Mohamed Diame
GOALL!!! West Ham take the lad against the run of play! And Mohamed Diame opens his Hammers account! The Senegalese midfielder picks the ball up in the left channel before cutting inside Ramsey and curling a superb effort into the corner past Mannone. Game on!
Carroll denies Giroud! A corner is scrambled around the box, before the Frenchman picks up the ball and blasts it towards the top corner but the Liverpool loanee, who has cleared each Arsenal corner so far heads the ball away. From the resulting corner, Carroll is there yet again to head away.
Arsenal zoom up the pitch again, Giroud's ball into the area is half-cleared and with the ball dropping to Cazorla, Arteta gets in his compatriot's way. Cazorla works the ball wide right to Jenkinson, his cross is cleared at the near post by Collins.
Not so savvy from Arteta this time, however, as he fouls Carroll under another long ball. Noble dinks the free kick towards the No.8, who wins his header but Vermaelen bravely intercepts and clears.
Carroll beats Mertesacker in the air again, but Nolan cannot scamper on to the knock-down. The ball is played back up to the England man, who chests down and turns towards goal, but with space opening up for an effort, Mikel Arteta nips in to steal the ball off his toe, great work from the Spaniard.
Ramsey has spent much of his time on the left wing so far, and does well to spin away from Demel, but chips his cross over the onrushing Giroud, with Gervinho also in the centre and unable to capitalise, Vaz Te gets back to clear.
The Gunners have dominated the opening exchanges though, enjoying nearly three-quarters of the opening 10 minutes' possession.
Arsenal are playing very stylishly, but the hosts are also keen to get the ball on the floor. Meanwhile, the Gunners are able to play a more direct game, with Giroud doing well to shield the ball from Collins on a couple of occasions.
Andy Carroll wins his first attacking header of the day, towering above Mertesacker AND Vermaelen to flick on a long punt, but Vaz Te is too far away and Mannone snaffles the ball.
Close again for Arsenal. Brilliant transitions up the field see Arteta, Cazorla and Gibbs all involved before the left-back pulls back for the former Malaga man on the edge of the area, but Reid blocks the shot away, with Jaaskelainen diving the wrong way behind him.
Sustained Arsenal pressure is broken up by Kevin Nolan, he finds Carroll as the hosts look to craft their first attack of the game but Ramsey fouls the striker.
More Arsenal pressure,Cazorla is at the heart of everything and finds Gibbs bursting down the left flank, but his low ball is hacked clear by Collins. Could be a matter of when and not if the Gunners open the scoring.
It's all Arsenal in the opening minutes, Ramsey drifts in from the left and finds Cazorla, who bundles his way forward before the ball bobbles to Giroud. The Frenchman's low effort is heading for the corner but Jaaskelainen claws the ball away for a corner that Carroll clears.
The visitors push on immediately, Podolski gets the ball in the left channel but is delivery is part cross, part shot, but all the way wide.
We're underway, with Arsenal, in yellow, kicking from left to right!
The players meet in the middle of the pitch, and will observe a minute's applause for former Hammers player John Bond, who passed away last week.
Olivier Giroud lines up for the visitors this afternoon, he's only got one goal to his name, and is yet to strike in the Premier League this term. Can he break his duck today?
The big battle here tonight will arguably be Andy Carroll against Per Mertesacker, which should be particularly interesting. Mind you, Arsenal have some potent strikers of their own, and a front three that leaves the mouth watering.
Meanwhile, here’s Arsenal: Mannone, Jenkinson, Mertesacker, Vermaelen, Gibbs, Ramsey, Cazorla, Arteta, Gervinho, Giroud, Podolski. Subs: Martinez, Koscielny, Andre Santos, Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Coquelin, Arshavin.
How are the teams looking? Here’s West Ham: Jaaskelainen, Demel, Collins, Reid, McCartney, Noble, Diame, Vaz Te, Nolan, Jarvis, Carroll. Subs: Henderson, Tomkins, Cole, Maiga, Taylor, Benayoun, O'Neil.
Meanwhile, the Hammers have started life well, and sit just above the Gunners in seventh. Their defence perhaps hasn’t been the best, but going forward they look dangerous at every turn.
Well, there’s been goals galore in the Premier League this afternoon, and these sides will be hoping for some of their own in what should be a keenly-contested London derby. Arsenal have been a bit up and down so far this season, and sit in eighth place with nine points. They’ll be hoping their reshuffled attacking pack can fire this evening.
Good afternoon, and welcome to Goal.com’s LIVE! text commentary on the late kick-off between West Ham and Arsenal in the Premier League.
