Ryan Taylor (ankle) is a doubt for Newcastle after picking up a knock in Thursday’s narrow win over Atromitos in the Europa League, while Cheikh Tiote (calf) and brothers Shola Ameobi and Sammy Ameobi (hamstring) are certain to miss out.
Ciaran Clark is suspended for Aston Villa after being sent off in the defeat to Everton, with Gary Gardner (knee ligament) having being ruled out for the season.
Marc Albrighton (foot), Richard Dunne (groin) and Gabriel Agbonlahor (knee) are all unavailable for at least the next few weeks.
Samir Carruthers (ankle) rounds off a lengthy injury list for Paul Lambert’s men.

Keiron Dyer and Lee Bowyer were both sent-off for the Magpies that day as the two players engaged in an infamous brawl following an on-field disagreement. Steven Taylor (pictured, right) was also dismissed for handball.
-

-
Aston Villa have won just 14 of the 73 league encounters between the two sides at St James’ Park.

The French midfielder was rested for the game against Atromitos, but Pardew will be hoping that the former Lille man can have a big impact as Newcastle seek their second win of the Premier League campaign.
Cabaye has looked out of sorts and short of fitness so far this season, and he will need to improve quickly and help the Magpies control the midfield without the influence of combative midfielder Cheikh Tiote.

Bent has yet to have a shot, let alone score a goal in the first two games of the season. However, the former Tottenham man has not received much in the way of service in what have been two very poor performances from Paul Lambert’s men.
A poacher such as Bent relies almost entirely service to be successful, and Lambert will look to the likes of Charles N’Zogbia and Steven Ireland to give the 28-year-old the kind of supply that he craves.
