  • I have been, and am quite likely to remain, Sion Cleaver, until next time, ciao.
  • That’s all for now then folks, I trust you’ve enjoyed our coverage of this clash, we have more LIVE! match commentary to come on this evening in the form of Chelsea v Newcastle, what a stormer that is.
  • Wigan boss Roberto Martinez will be very pleased with that result, his side looked very threatening at times and looked defensively sound at the back. Solid performance from the Latics, who historically aren't all that good away from home.
  • Full-time! No real action of note in the final few minutes, Wigan emerge 2-0 victors over a Southampton side who had everything going for them before the break but their second-half performance ultimately let them down.
  • 90' + 2'
Surprising performance from the Saints, especially considering the absolutely wonderful performance they produces against Manchester City last week!
  • 90' + 1'
    SubstitutionArouna Kone Mauro Boselli
  • 90' + 1'
Southampton can't wait for the final whistle now, they will be very disappointing that they couldn't score in the first-half when the match was on their side.
  • 90'
What an unlikely goal that was, a poor touch from Fonte saw his pass fall to Kone on the halfway line, but the striker took it all the way and ultimately sealed the deal for the Latics!
  • 90'
GOAAAL!!! A wonderful run from Kone sees him breeze through the Southampton defence, before producing a cool and collected finish past Davis in the Saints goal. Wigan have sealed all three points now.
  • 89'
    Goal Arouna Kone
  • 88'
CHANCE! Kone almost hit the back of the net there, Gomez passed a ball to the striker but his footing failed him. He was through on goal, but no dice.
  • 86'
CHANCE! A wonderful run from Lallana sees him get hold of the ball in the box, before cutting through the defence and firing a low left-footed shot towards goal only to see it pushed narrowly out by Al-Habsi. Brilliant goalkeeping from Wigan there.
  • 85'
A breakdown in communication results in a brief mix-up between Alcaraz and Caldwell, but the ball is eventually knocked out of play to avoid an embarrassing mistake.
  • 83'
Southampton are looking quite scrappy now, they're attempting to put together enough of a passing movement to get them near Wigan's area, but they can't seem to string more than a few passes together at present.
  • 82'
CHANCE! Kone produces a clever one-two passing combination with Gomez, who controls the ball well before sliding over the ball and slotting a low-cracker just wide of the Southampton post. That could very easily have been two.
  • 80'
CHANCE! What a chance for Southampton there, Lambert crosses into the box and Hooiveld’s aggressive header across goal smashes off the woodwork!

Di Santo comes off for Jordi Gomez in Wigan's first change of the game. Di Santo has been truly excellent for the Latics today, but his input since the break has been minimal if you leave his goal aside.

  • Southampton XI: K. Davis, Clyne, Fonte, Hooiveld, Fox, S. Davis, Schneiderlin, Lallana (c), Guly, Lambert, Rodriguez.
  • Some team news to fly your way then, both teams look to be full-strength for this one...
  • Wigan however, started their 2012/13 Premier League account with a 2-0 home loss to Chelsea. The scoreline might flatter the European champions however, as Roberto Martinez’ men looked superb at times and were unlucky not to get a goal.
  • The Saints were very unlucky not to get something at the Etihad last Sunday, they looked the better teams at times and seemed unfazed by their big name opponents.
