Paul Lambert is still without the services of Richard Dunne (groin), Marc Albrighton (foot) and Gabby Agbonlahor (knee) through injury and with full-backs Alan Hutton and Stephen Warnock currently in exile at the club, options are few and far between.
Darren Bent picked up an eye injury this week, but has responded well to treatment and should feature at Villa Park.
With limited resources currently available to him, Lambert will, in most probability, field the same team that showed promise against West Ham last week, but ultimately had nothing to show for it.
Everton, meanwhile, may hand Kevin Mirallas his Premier League debut after his move from Olympiakos. Whether the Belgian forward starts or not could depend on the fitness of leading striker Nikica Jelavic.
The Croatian, along with Sylvain Distin, had to receive treatment towards the end of Monday's 1-0 win over Manchester United but the duo hope to prove their fitness by the weekend.
Marouane Fellaini, who proved to be the match winner against United with a second-half header, and Darron Gibson were doubts for that game itself but after coming through unscathed, both appear fully fit.

The Villans will rely heavily on the former Spurs man if they are to avoid becoming embroiled in another relegation scrap this season and it is imperative he gets off the mark sooner rather than later to boost morale around the club. He will need supplying from the likes of Stephen Ireland and Charles N'Zogbia, who must improve to get the best out of their top marksman.

The Belgium international was simply unplayable against Manchester United on Monday night. He was everywhere, picking up loose balls, driving at the defence and perfectly laying the ball off to his teammates to get involved in attacks. If Fellaini can prove as much of a handful in the air as he was for the likes of Nemanja Vidic and Michael Carrick the other night, then Villa could be in for a very long afternoon.
Villa are still finding their feet under new manager Lambert. The Scot is trying to do things his own way and from the passing game his side displayed last week, there clearly appears to be some sort of development from the brand of football under Alex McLeish last season.
Villa had plenty of possession and shots against West Ham, but ultimately only two hit the target and none found the back of the net. The pressure is on Darren Bent to change that fact.
Everton's goalscoring potential is undeniable however, with Mirallas further bolstering an already impressive Toffees frontline. Their firepower should see them through at Villa Park.
