Referee:‬ P. O'Leary‎
Attendance:‬ 51745‎

23′ Ismail Matar
G. Ramírez 42′

N. Lodeiro 56′

AND THAT'S IT! Suarez & Co. have beaten UAE here with an impressive second-half performance. A great game at Old Trafford though, in which the underdogs impressed with their technical ability. Food for thought in Group A.

90′ +1
La Celeste just keeping the ball now to see this one out, plenty of room for improvement ahead of their next fixture, but they'll take some positives from their attacking play.

90′
CHANCE! Al Hammadi cuts inside from the edge of the box and hits a shot just wide. Time running out for UAE now.

89′
The ball is given away by UAE, and then by Suarez, who has looked a little rusty at times today. All eyes have been on the striker though, who did well to set up the second goal.

87′
Lodeiro goes down under a strong challenge in the midfield. Players from both teams rush in, but the situation is soon defused by the referee who has a word with Luis Suarez.

84′
Khalil smashes a free-kick miles over from range, when perhaps a cross was the better option. UAE have five minutes to find their goal.

82′
Urretaviscaya enters the field for Uruguay, let's hope for my sake he isn't involved too much. UAE pressing for an equaliser now, but their opponents look to be keeping their shape much better since the break.

81′
Substitution G. Ramírez J. Urretaviscaya

80′
Goalscorer Ramirez is down here for Uruguay, and will soon make way. Uruguay, temporarily with 10 men, have a decent chance saved by Khaseef.

77′
CHANCE! Omar, who looks a truly handy player, slips a ball through for Khalil who hits the ball across the advancing Campana, but wide of goal.

75′
The game is well poised as we go into the final 15 minutes. Both teams now looking increasingly weary and dangerous on the break. Suarez gives the ball away in another wasted attack.

73′
Substitution Rashid Essa Ahmed Ali Al Abri

72′
Luis Suarez commits a foul on the halfway line, allowing Ali to come on for UAE, in place of Eisa.

70′
Uruguay have become a bit wasteful in possession now, as they give away the ball twice in quick succession. Eisa attempts another run, but turns straight into Ramirez.

69′
Substitution M. Calzada Diego Martín Rodríguez

68′
Eisa bursts past his marker on the right wing, and his cross eventually falls to Ahmad, whose effort is blocked well by Rios. Calzada, who has been quiet, is replaced by Diego 'El Toro' Rodriguez.

66′
That's a bit better from the UAE, who have recovered some of the calm passing we saw early on. Madhi Ali's side are showing signs of threatening again, but are yet to create a chance in this half. Their momentum is stopped as Arias goes down.

63′
Cavani gives the ball away in midfield and the UAE seem to be taking a more direct route now. Omar, the key player in the first-half, is beginning to come into the game.

60′
UAE just trying to settle the game down now by keeping the ball as they did so well in the opening 45 minutes. They need inspiration from somewhere, and have replaced Matar with Al Hammadi.

59′
Substitution Ismail Matar Ismaeel Al Hammadi

58′
Whatever Oscar Tabarez said at half-time, it seems to have done the trick. Uruguay are the dominant side now and look like scoring every time they go forward. Lodeiro has been at the heart of his team's attacks since coming on, the former Ajax man looks impressive.

56′
Assist Luis Suárez

56′
Goal N. Lodeiro

56′
GOAAAAL! Lodeiro finally gets his reward. Good play from Rios, who had earlier been denied by Khaseef. His through ball picked out Suarez, who beat the defender and squared the ball for his strike partner, much to the 'delight' of the Old Trafford crowd.

54′
Cavani picks the ball up on the edge of the box and is allowed to turn and shoot, but his effort is blocked. The ball reaches substitute Lodeiro, but the defence also deals with his effort.

52′
Khaseef prevents a corner from Suarez, but hashes his clearance straight out of play. UAE lacking the same composure they showed earlier on. Both sides yet to have a chance in the second period.

49′
Uruguay have started the second half with much more fluidity, and now have an orthodox backline in place. Both teams will need to make the most of possession in order to win. Still level.

47′
Substitution M. Aguirregaray N. Lodeiro

47′
Aguirregaray has been replaced by Botafogo's Nicolas Lodeiro, presumably due to injury. Fitness will be a key feature of this game as we approach the later stages.

46′
Uruguay get the second-half underway here.

The whistle blows, bringing an end to a great first-half at Old Trafford. UAE were the better side for the majority of the opening 45 minutes, but that great Ramirez effort means the sides go in level at the break.

43′
Uruguay look to have woken up after that strike. It won't make the Tabarez half-time team talk any easier though. All set up for an intriguing second period here.

42′
Goal G. Ramírez

41′
GOAAAALL! Curse of the commentator. Suarez is brought down on the edge of the box. Ramirez steps up to take the resulting free-kick and curls a fantastic shot over the wall, and past Khaseif.

39′
Great movement from Matar, who is played onside by Coates. The striker is picked out well but puts his shot into the side netting. Uruguay are lacking the same guile when going forward.

37′
Yellow Card Mohamed Ahmad Gharib

36′
Ahmad needlessly brings down Aguirregaray on the edge of the box, and receives the second card of the game. Free-kick within shooting distance...hit over by Cavani.

34′
Plenty of space in the middle of the park for UAE's central midfielders, who are spraying the ball around and making their opponents work. Look content with their one goal advantage going into half-time.

32′
Great jinking run from Aguirregaray for Uruguay frees Cavani, who crosses the ball to the far post for Luis Suarez. The striker puts the ball past the advancing 'keeper, as well as the post, and is flagged offside.

29′
Omar, who has dictated the play in midfield for UAE, has a go from range. The shot is deflected as far as Khalil, who wastes his chance. This side look extremely composed and technically good.

27′
Another corner for La Celeste, won by Suarez. The right wing has been their best source of chances thus far, but they have repeatedly failed to hit the target from set-pieces.

25′
CHANCE! Another great opportunity, which falls for Khalil this time. Fantastic pass once again, but the off-balance midfielder can only shoot straight at Campana. Uruguay look shaken.

23′
Assist Omar Abdulrahman

23′
Goal Ismail Matar

21′
GOAAAAALL!! Great through ball by Omar splits open the Uruguay defence, Matar latches on to the ball and keeps his cool to round the keeper and finish neatly.

19′
Suarez does well to win a corner, but the set-piece is punched away by the 'keeper under pressure, and enough to warrant a foul. Good contest here, both teams holding their shape well.

17′
Great ball in from the Uruguay right by Aguirregaray, but Cavani had failed to set himself and the ball is put behind. Good chance for Uruguay.

16′
Coates goes down under a heavy challenge by Hussain. Looked nasty, until the Liverpool man got straight back on his feet to confront the Al-Nasr man.

14′
End-to-end stuff here in Manchester as Campana fumbles a routine cross, while at the other end Khaseef plucks a corner out of the air quite comfortably. Still goalless.

11′
UAE have two shouts for a penalty turned down after Omar twice takes a tumble in the box, strong defending there though. Worrying start for Uruguay here who look uncertain at times.

9′
A cynical foul by Rolin brings the game's first booking. UAE had men forward there before the defender made the foul. The resulting free-kick is easily dealt with by Campana.

7′
Suarez, predictably, has been involved in much of Uruguay's play so far. Every touch of the ball by the Liverpool man has been greeted by boos from the Manchester crowd. The striker does well to cross for Albin, who heads wide.

6′
Yellow Card A. Rolín

5′
As the UAE break, Khalil whips a low ball into the box from the right wing, and the Uruguay defence does well to clear from the feet of Matar. Open game here at Old Trafford.

4′
Free-kick on the edge of the box here to be taken by Luis Suarez. Uruguay upping the tempo here after a composed start by their opponents.

2′
Early corner here for the UAE, who could spring a few surprises going forward today, especially if Japan's performance is anything to go by. The set-piece is wasted by Omar.

1′
UAE get us underway at Old Trafford.

So, Uruguay, who look to be taking this competition very seriously indeed, line up in light blue. Up against the all-red UAE, who shouldn't be underestimated. Should be a cracker. Not to mention Suarez back at Old Trafford...

Uruguay: Campana; Arias, Coates, Albin, Rolin; Cavani, Calzada, Suarez; Aguirregaray, Arevalo Rios.

UAE: Khaseif; Hussain, Ahmad, Amer, Hamdan; Matar, Khalil, Esmaeel, Sanqour; Omar, Eisa.
