Borussia Dortmund will have to do without the services of defender Patrick Owomoyela, who has been ruled out with injury. The right-back is the only absentee for BVB, who will have a nearly full-strength squad at their disposal.

For Bayern Munich, Daniel van Buyten is training with the team after recovering from an injury he suffered in January. It is not yet clear what role he will play on Saturday, but he is most likely to start from the bench in the game against Dortmund.

Fellow defender Breno, however, will not feature as he is recovering from a knock, and is unlikely to play for the Bavarians again.

  DID YOU KNOW?
  • Borussia Dortmund have not won the DFB Pokal in 23 years, last lifting the trophy in 1989.
  • BVB last appeared in the showpiece of the competition in season 2007/08. They were defeated 2-1 after extra time by no other than Bayern Munich, with Luca Toni bagging a brace.
  • Dortmund crashed out of the DFB Pokal at the hands of Kicker Offenbach last season. The 3.Bundesliga side defeated BVB 4-2 on penalties.
  • The Bavarians have eliminated Dortmund three times from the competition, losing just once to BVB back in 1992 on penalties.
  • Bayern Munich defeated two Bundesliga sides on their way to the DFB Pokal final in the form of Stuttgart and Borussia Monchengladbach, while Dortmund only met lower-division opposition.

The Japanese will be keen to prove that he is more than a big game flop and finally make an impact against Bayern Munich. He struggled in all of his games against the Bavarians, and will look to make amends as he is fishing for a move to a bigger club.

The Dutchman, who netted the winner for Bayern Munich in the DFB Pokal final in 2010, will be fired up to make the difference once again. His power, pace and shooting capabilities can tip the scales in favour of Jupp Heynckes' men.
Prediction
Dortmund have proven to be mentally weak in cup competitions in the last couple of years, crashing out to a 3.Bundesliga side last year, and barely making it past lower-division opposition in this campaign. Bayern Munich, on the other hand, have plenty of experience in direct elimination, and will be keen to start a winning streak against BVB on Saturday.
