FULL-TIME! There it is, Sunderland progress to the last 16 after a nail-biting encounter. Colback's terrific opener was cancelled out by Jutkiewicz's striker after half-time. Into extra-time we went and Sessegnon makes sure O'Neill's side avoided penalties and they bag the home-tie against Arsenal. Thank you, and good night!

120′ +2
Substitution Sebastian Larsson Ahmed El Mohamady

120′ +1
Free-kick to the Black Cats after a rash challenge, the visitors play it short again, after making a change, to eat up the final few minutes. All the usual pushing and shoving by the corner flag present.

120′
Sunderland go close! The ball is rolled across the face and Steele is forced to tip it behind to make sure he doesn't concede a third. O'Neill's side play it short and look to hold the ball in the corner.

119′
What a strike from Reach!! The ball is delivered from the left but headed clear, it falls to the Boro man who gets a clean connection as he swings his left foot at the ball, but it rises just over the bar. So close!

117′
Sunderland nearly break, with Boro short at the back, but Hines concedes a free-kick. Not long left now...

116′
Substitution Stéphane Sessegnon David Meyler

115′
Rob Stewart's reaction from the Riverside: "It says a lot about this gripping cup tie that no one seems to be heading for the exits even though Sunderland seem destined to go through thanks to Stephane Sessegnon's goal that was tough on a Boro side who have looked better as they contest has gone on."

114′
Boro have a big shout for a penalty turned down, Emnes the player to go to ground with the ball at his feet. Although on second glance it looks as if it was a good tackle.

113′
Goal Stéphane Sessegnon
GOOOOOAAAAAALLLLL! SESSEGNON FOR SUNDERLAND! 2-1!!! Wickham receives the ball inside the box but can't get it under control as he is surrounded by red-shirts. The ball bobbles back to Sessegnon and the striker brushes the ball past Steele into the back of the net! Can Boro find a late, late response?

110′
Patient build-up play from the visitors but they eventually concede a free-kick. Boro then break but but Sunderland back-four holds firm. The home crowd urging their team on now.

108′
Nervy start to this second period, with a few miss-placed passes. We're hearing now that the Boro bench already have their penalty takers decided.

106′
Middlesbrough re-start in extra-time.

105′ +1
Emnes is fouled and Boro have a free-kick on the right, it's fired in at pace but cleared by Sunderland. Half-time in extra-time now.

105′
Great play by Boro, Hoyte breaks on the right then plays in Emnes, he takes a touch before unleashing a drive at goal but is denied by a heroic block by the defender. McMahon blasts the follow-up over the bar.

104′
Bit of a lull now, both sets of players must be feeling fatigued as well as starting to think about the possibility of penalties.

101′
Our man Rob Stewart is still going strong at the Riverside: "If Arsene Wenger is watching this on television back home it is safe to say that he will be loving it because his Arsenal team are heading to Sunderland on Saturday and the way things are going Martin O'Neill's side will be relying on their last energy reserves because this is heading toward nerve-shredding penalties as the sides wilt before Wenger's eyes."

99′
Free-kick from Larsson wide on the right, he dispatches it dangerously but Gardner's close-range header goes over. He should have done better with that one.

98′
Gardner with yet another attempt from distance for the visitors, but he is off-target. Then, Wickham combines with Sessegnon but the forward can't get his shot away. Backs to the wall defending from Boro.

96′
Marvin Emnes is pushed to the ground by his man, off the ball, but the referee misses it. The striker gets to his feet to find the ball in-front of him, he tries to play a one-two with Main but his team-mate is not on the same wavelength.

95′
Adam Reach does very well in the middle of the park, then shifts the ball out to Main on the left flank. He tries an ambitious shot which Mignolet hold onto.

93′
That man Colback, who netted a screamer to open the scoring, fires an effort from range which swerves just to the left of the goal-frame.

91′
Sunderland get the match back underway.

90′ +3
END OF 90 MINUTES! Extra-time for us tonight then. Jutkiewicz volley cancels out Colback's incredible strike as the sides end normal time as they were at the end of the first meeting. Both managers will feel their players had chances to win the game, and will be hoping they can do so without the need for penalties. Stay with us, this one is going to the wire!

90′ +2
Sunderland then break, but Connor Wickham can't control, then Boro counter themselves, however the Black Cats' defence get back in numbers and see out the danger.

90′ +1
A drop-ball gets us going again, and Boro knock the ball back to the visitors' keeper. They lose it almost instantly and Main whips in a beautiful ball which McMahon is agonisingly close to, but can't find a connection.

90′
As Gardner tires another adventurous drive from range, we have a fan on the pitch and play is brought to a halt.

89′
Sessegnon tricks his way past his man before laying it off to McClean on the left-wing, he tries a low-cross but the ball is hacked clear.

88′
Boro take a few attempts to head the ball clear, all of which fail, the ball then drops to Sessegnon but he snatches at the chance and it sails over the bar. He wants a corner, but the referee signals a goal-kick.

87′
Substitution Fraizer Campbell Connor Wickham

87′
Sessegnon breaks on the left flank before cutting in and hitting an shot with his right, bounces off a red-shirt for a corner.

86′
Larsson attempts a heroic through ball from the half-way line, but it's cleared for a throw-in. Into the final five minutes now and defeat will be hard to take from here.

84′
Bennett charges up the field for the hosts, he cuts inside and beats his man before hitting the deck just outside the 18-yard-box. Looked a foul by O'Shea but nothing is given, the Boro fans are not happy with that one.

82′
Mignolet hits a goal-kick straight out for a throw-in. Then, a long-ball from Boro evades the visitors' defence as it bounces but McMahon effort on the turn flies over.

80′
Our man at the Riverside, Rob Stewart, on the Sunderland boss: "Martin O'Neill has just gone down in my estimations because in stationing Fraizer Campbell on the six-yard line as Seb Larsson prepared to take aim with a free-kick he has shown he is not averse to deploying the tactics that have turned so many football fans against the likes of Sam Allardyce and Tony Pulis. Thankfully it did not result in a goal but it should have resulted in an offside flag because the player was interfering with play."

78′
Substitution Lukas Jutkiewicz Marvin Emnes

78′
Substitution Julio Arca Adam Reach

78′
Gardner with another shot from range, this time on his weaker left-foot, it is deflected and goes behind. The ball eventually falls to Bardsley and the defender unleashes a clean strike, but it's straight at the keeper who concedes another corner. The ball is then cleared.

77′
Sessegnon neatly shifts the ball out to Bardsley, who is overlapping on the right flank, his cross looks dangerous but is blocked by the defender.

75′
Larsson hits it and it's deflected behind by the wall. The corner is claimed by an unchallenged Steele.

74′
Prolonged spell of pressure from O'Neill's men as they search for a way through the Boro back-line. Gardner is fouled a yard outside of the box by Hines, free-kick given...

71′
Bardsley denied by the post!!!! The Sunderland defender gets himself in a good position and lets fly with a powerful drive, but the ball rebounds off the wood-work. The ball traveled through a crowd of bodies and could have gone anywhere. So unlucky!

70′
Free-kick for Boro is delivered towards the Black Cats' area. The ball falls to Williams who tries to thread it through the eye of a needle to Main, it's a good effort but he just over-hits his pass. Goal-kick to Sunderland.

69′
Substitution Kevin Thomson Richard Smallwood

68′
Sessegnon does very well to get to the byline on the left, and then even better to get a chipped cross away. The fall is heading towards Larsson but Bennett does just enough to get there first and Steele then collects.

66′
Rob Stewart reporting from the ground: "Tonight's crowd is 26,707 of which there are 4,253 fans which will provide some much-needed revenue for Boro and provide further evidence that the Martin O'Neill effect at Sunderland is working on the fans as well as his players."

64′
Gardner finds a yard of space outside the area and in between two defenders, he hits another powerful strike towards the goal, but this one is just off-target.

62′
Mowbray's side look like they have been injected with energy after that goal as McMahon fizzes an effort at goal, but Mignolet saves. Then, Gardner tries a pile-driver from range for Sunderland, but Steele parries it away.

60′
The atmosphere is buzzing once again at the Riverside as both sides are searching for a possible winner. Here's what our man Rob Stewart makes of it all: "The noise here reminds me of the glory, glory nights of the Steve McClaren era whe Boro became the cup specialists in the UEFA Cup because it feels as though the roof is going to be blown off the Riverside as Boro go through the gears on the back of that equaliser."

57′
Goal Lukas Jutkiewicz
GOOOOAAAAALLLLl! Jutkiewicz equalises for the home-side! And it's another fine volley that finds the net. Boro toss a long-ball toward the area Main leaps like a salmon and heads it on, before Turner misjudges the flight of the ball and misses it completely, allowing the forward to smash the ball past Mignolet.

55′
McClean dispatches an inch-perfect ball into the area towards the head of Turner, the defender should at least hit the target as he leaps above the Boro back-line but his effort doesn't trouble Steele. The visitors should have doubled their lead there.

53′
Some neat passing from the Black Cats on the edge of their opponents box, Sessegnon tries to get a shot away but takes too long with his back-lift and the defender flies in to make the block.

52′
Free-kick for Sunderland on the right-hand-side, but Richardson's delivery is poor and is blocked by the first man. The guys making the journey from the back won't be happy with that.

50′
Slightly slower start to the half this time around. Boro are having most of the ball so far but are being more conserved in their build-up play so far.

47′
Joseph Bennett fires in a low cross from the left, but there is no-one attacking the ball in the box and Sunderland clear the danger.

46′
The hosts kick-off in the second-half.

Rob Stewart at the Riverside sums that all up for us: "Martin O'Neill said he expected this to be like an old-fashioned cup tie and thankfully the Sunderland manager has been proved right because Boro have responded to Jack Colback's brilliant opener in impressive fashion and would have been level had it not been for Phil Bardsley's superb goal-line clearance that denied Tony McMahon and a fine Simon Mignolet save that kept out Curtis Main's low shot."

45′
HALF-TIME!! Sunderland go into the break 1-0 up after a very exciting first period. The fans were bubbling and the game got off to a high-tempo start, with both sides creating opening throughout. And what a way to open the scoring from Colback that was! His stunning volley gives his the advantage in this FA Cup replay. Make sure to stick with us for the second-half.

44′
Mignolet the hero for Sunderland next, as he parries Main's strike out for a corner, nothing comes from the ball in though.

43′
Boro have been sparked into life by that goal, McMahon fires in a strike, which is heading past the Black Cats' keeper and into the corner, only for Bardsley to save his side with a goal-line clearance.

42′
Goal Jack Colback
GOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLL! Thunderbolt from Jack Colback!! Campbell has to be given some credit for his knock-down from the long-ball, but what followed from Colback was spectacular. It falls to the midfielder, he chests it and then smashes a left-foot volley into the top corner, giving Steele no chance whatsoever. What a beauty!

40′
Five minutes left in the half and both sides have looked dangerous at times. We're due a goal I'd say.

37′
Good run from Richardson, as he plays it to Sessegnon, the ball then falls to Turner but he's denied by a heroic block from Matthew Bates.

35′
Sessegnon shows good strength to hold off the defender to collect the bouncing ball, but he miss-cues his shot and it goes horribly wide.

33′
Bardsley tries an ambitious effort from distance, which is off-target.

31′
The corner is taken by the man who took that free-kick, McMahon, but Michael Turner is able to make a clearance for the Black Cats. The ball comes back in and Jutkiewicz climbs the highest but heads wide, good chance again for Boro.

30′
Brilliant save from Mignolet, a free-kick is dispatched by McMahon and the ball is flicked on to Sebastian Hines who sticks out a toe and forces an acrobatic save from the keeper, who tips it over.

28′
Main breaks down the left-flank for Mowbray's side, he does well and wins a free-kick out on the sideline after a foul by O'Shea. It's not a great delivery but the ball is only headed as far as Kevin Thomson who rifles a volley way over.

25′
Larsson whips in dangerous corner from the left but it's cleared, Craig Gardner's follow-up is deflected out for another corner but the Swede's second attempt doesn't get past the man on the front post.

23′
Our correspondent Rob Stewart has been having a look at tonight's programme: "Spare a thought for Lee Cattermole, he crocked Sunderland captain and former midfielder, who is missing this game because of injury but will be here with his dad, Barry, under duress, if his programme interview in which he reflected on the sides' 1-1 draw on Wearside is anything to go by. 'It was awful having to sit and watch if I am being honest,' he said. 'I found it really difficult and I would have rather not watched it because it was so hard sitting there, especially as we struggled in the first half.'"

21′
Boro's turn to fire an effort wayward as Jutkiewicz blasts a shot from distance high and wide, poor effort from the striker.

20′
Kieran Richardson is next to have a shot off-target, as he ventures forward from left-back before cutting inside and shooting with his right.

19′
Campbell plays Larsson in down the right-hand-side, with a perfectly weighted ball, the midfielder hits it from a tight angle and the shot sails across the face of the goal and behind.

18′
McClean with a teasing ball in to the box, but it swings away from his team-mates. Larsson retrieves the ball fails to find an attacker with his delivery as well.

17′
Tony McMahon plays the ball to Curtis Main, but he slightly miss-hits the volley, allowing Mignolet to save with ease.

15′
Quarter of an hour gone, at the atmosphere is certainly being mirrored by the tempo on the pitch so far, let's hope both sides can continue as they have started.

13′
Hoyte tries to feed Lukas Jutkiewicz, but again O'Shea is there to clear. Then, Arca tries an effort from range which bounces just before it reaches Simon Mignolet forcing the keeper to spill the shot first time around, however he gathers at the second attempt.

11′
Justin Hoyte advances down the right and fires in a dangerous ball, but John O'Shea is equal to it and Boro are forced to start from the half-way line again.

9′
Rob Stewart from the ground: "It's just like the good old days here at the Riverside because the atmosphere is truly vibrant thanks mainly to the 4,000 Sunderland fans who have made the journey down the A19 and for once there are only a few thousand empty seats here on Teesside, even though the temperatures are plummeting."

7′
Middlesbrough having a short spell of possession now as Julio Arca delivers a ball towards the box, but Phillip Bardsley extinguishes the danger.

5′
Very lively start at the Riverside as the Black Cats come forward once more, but Steele collects Campbell's low cross expertly.

4′
McClean is the brought down and O'Neill's side win a free-kick in a promising position, Sebastian Larsson dispatches it curls it over the wall but it's a comfortable height for Jason Steele to collect.

2′
Nice link-up play from Stephane Sessegnon and Fraizer Campbell inside the Boro box, the ball is then whipped in from the right towards James McClean but the defence get it clear.

1′
And Sunderland get the tie underway.

Our man at the Riverside Rob Stewart reports: "The England manager's situation could give a couple of managers here food for thought because Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill is bound to come under consideration for the role and the same applies to Newcastle counterpart Alan Pardew who is here on a scouting mission with his right-hand man John Carver."

The last time the Black Cats were knocked out of the cup by a lower-league club was just last season. Nottingham County of League One defeated them in the third-round.

Tony Mowbray's team's third-round victory over Shrewsbury is their only win in their last eight games across all competitions.

Martin O'Neill's side are unbeaten in five clashes with Boro and it being ten years since the hosts last beat their north-east rivals at the Riverside, that win coming in the Premier League.

The breaking news this evening is the England boss Fabio Capello resigning from his position. The visitors' manager has been linked with the job in the past and it will be interesting to see if anything develops this time around, with him doing so well this season. Anyway some facts ahead on tonight's game coming up...
