Ronaldinho goes off the pitch to the cheers of the Mexicans. Just seconds left now as fans begin to exit the stadium.
90' + 2'
Mexico are pushing late! Salcido's dangerous cross in the box finds the head of Luiz, who crashes into a defender and Jefferson, knocking the ball over the goal. Corner here!
With just moments left, it's hard to not think of the missed penalty kick by Guardado.
Well, Brazil have certainly turned the tide, disappointing the thousands of Mexican supporters on hand. Just a few minutes remaining. Who would of though, of all the players, it would be Marcelo scoring the potentially winning goal? After Mano Menezes' little rift with the Real Madrid defender before the Copa America, his future with the yellow shirt looked in doubt. Now his place in the starting XI looks certain.
GOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLL BRAZIL!!!!!!! MARCELO!!!!! The defender finds the net!!! The defender makes a move in the box, evading a defender to get within metres of the left post, firing high into the net! 2-1!
Yellow Card Rafa Márquez
Valencia's Jonas come on the pitch as Brazil look to escape Mexico with a victory.
Giovani dos Santos
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL RONALDINHO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT A GOAL MY GOODNESSS! The free-kick from the left side of the box finds the side net on the right, leaving Sanchez with little hope. What a strike from the Brazilian magician!!!
Neymar is fouled at the top of the box. Well, looked like a dive. What a chance here for Brazil, a nation with plenty of marvelous free-kick takers. Here we go.
Around 15 minutes to go. Will another goal come?
WOW. WOW. WOW. What a save by Jefferson! A cross from the right side finds the head of Chicharito from five metres out. The Manchester United State fires down a violent header towards the back post, but the Botafogo man denies him!!!!!!!
Ronaldinho tries his luck but is denied by Sanchez. 20 minutes left here.
Jorge Emmanuel Torres
Neymar with the ball at midfield, Mexico defending well, forcing the Santos star to play backwards.
Yellow Card Lucas Leiva
Hard to pick a top performer, but Sanchez makes another nice save in goal to deny Brazil. Mexico are on their heels. Little has been seen from Dos Santos and Chicharito.
Down a man, Brazil are having trouble breaking down the back-line of Mexico. Meanwhile, the home side are maintaining their shape, allowing Brazil to try their luck from deep. That said, Hulk's long-range shot falls comfortable to Sanchez.
Little over a half an hour to go as Mexico are wasteful with the ball in the attacking half.
SALCIDO!!!!!!! The former PSV man tries his luck from the top of the box, but his left-footed shot, one that had mighty movement, flew by the right post, past the hand of Jefferson.
Chicharito tries to get in on the action down the left side, looking for the back post with a curling effort with the right foot, but his shot finds the stands.
Neymar's low shot from the top of the box falls right to Sanchez, who has been confident on the ball.
Yellow Card Javier Hernández
Barrera fails to gain full control of the ball at the top of the box failing to get a shot off when a decent long-range effort was possible.
Nothing as of yet here in the second half as Mexico look prepared to go on the counter. Brazil are looking to play Hulk frequently, allowing the Porto star to show his magic. Off day for Neymar.
The second half is underway!
Well, seems like a fair result considering the missed penalty kick. Both teams have had a couple chances. Brazil just haven't broken through into the box as much as they would have liked. Interesting second half to come.
45' + 2'
Halftime! That's the end of the first half with Mexico up 1-0!
45' + 1'
JEFFERSON SAVES IT!!!!!! CORNER KICK NOW! Guardado's low effort towards the bottom-left corner is saved well by the goalkeeper!
Missed Penalty A. Guardado
Nilo was fouled in the box by Alves near the right post.
Yellow/Red Daniel Alves
Penalty!!!! Foul by Alves in the box! Red card! Guardado to take the kick!
Brazil are pushing hard for the leveler before the break. Neymar takes the ball down the middle but is 'fouled' en route. No call.
Free kick to Mexico outside the box, but Salcido's effort is blocked by the Brazilian wall. A few minutes left in the first half.
Ouch! Tough collision between Alves and Nilo! Both are slow to get up. Little delay on the pitch.
Yellow Card E. Juárez
Brazil looked to level courtesy of Neymar, but Dani Alves' cross flies past the box and also past the by-line.
For those interested, Brazil's neighbors Argentina, have just gone down 1-0 to Venezuela with 25 minutes to play.
Another decent chance from Hulk, who steps over the ball at the corner of the box, looking for a better shot on goal, but his effort flies just by the near post.
Just over 15 minutes until the break as Brazil get one of their best chances. Marcelo sends Hulk through into the left side of the box, but the strikers powerful effort is handled well by Sanchez in the middle of the goal.
Great effort from Hulk! The Porto star goes at his defender on the left flank, cutting towards the by-line with speed, but his rapid cross flies across the box with nobody able to get a head on it.
Another free-kick for Brazil sees Ronaldinho's cross hit Fernandinho in the box, but the ball flies meteres wide of the back post, never really threatening Sanchez.
Brazil are pushing forward for the equaliser, but Mexico steal the ball and go on the counter. Dos Santos is fouled down the right side. Free-kick to Mexico.
Yellow Card C. Salcido
Another free-kick to the South Americans after Ronaldinho was fouled after a clever cut. This ones about 40 yards out, and Alves takes it! His downwards shot goes right over the goal. Decent take there.
Free-kick on the left side after Marcelo was fouled. Who to take it? Ronaldinho of course. The former Barca star aims back post but the shot is saved well by Sanchez!
NEYMAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A lovely combo in the box sees the Santos starlet with a clear look on goal, but the strikers effort from near the penalty kick spot flies just over the bar!
Yellow Card Jorge Emmanuel Torres
Keep an eye on Marcelo and Chicharito down the right side. Things are getting physical, but aren't they always with the Real Madrid defender?
Mexico seem to be in full control with the possession. Haven't even noticed Neymar on the pitch at all.
Own Goal David Luiz
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL MEXICO!!! OWN GOAL FROM LUIZ! Barrera cross is sent into the box, but it hits the Chelsea defender, flying into his own net!
Mexico are attacking down the right side as Dos Santos sends in a dangerous ball that the Brazilian defenders manage to eliminate, though not successfully.
Yellow Card Daniel Alves
OUCH! Dani Alves attempts to clear the ball, but he nearly clears the arm of Guardado, who is down after the contact. He has gotten back up though as play resumes.
Little to show in the first five minutes as a flurry of long balls have occupied the opening time.
Lovely pitch they are playing on in Mexico. Great shape. Brazil are in their yellow, while Mexico are in the smooth-looking black shirts.
Here we go! The game has begun!
National anthems being played now. Great crowd on hand!
We are minutes away from the contest, and it is sure to be an interesting one, featuring two of the top young strikers in the world in Neymar and Chicharito.
Mexico's starting XI: Sanchez, Juarez, Marquez, Rodriguez, Salcido, Barrera, Castro, Nilo, Guardado, Dos Santos, Hernandez.
Brazil's starting XI: Jefferson, Alves, Silva, Luiz, Marcelo, Fernandinho, Lucas Leiva, Ronaldinho, Lucas, Neymar, Hulk.
Brazil are obviously not participating in the ongoing South American World Cup qualifiers as they are the host nation of the tournament in three years' time. Mexico are not participating in Concacaf qualifying at the moment as they will enter the competition at a later stage.
