Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick as Real Madrid beat Chivas Guadalajara 3-0 on Wednesday.
The La Liga giants left it late to secure the win over the Mexican side, scoring all three goals in the last 20 minutes.
Jose Mourinho’s men dominated in the first half and could have been 3-0 up at the break had it not been for the inspired Luis Ernesto Michel in the Chivas goal.
Michel again thwarted Madrid’s strike force in the second half, denying Karim Benzema and Ronaldo after the hour-mark.
But the goalkeeper was finally beaten in the 73rd minute, when Ronaldo capitalised on some sloppy defending to steal in at the near post and put his side ahead.
Omar Arellano then conceded a penalty three minutes later after a foul on Pepe, whose compatriot Ronaldo grabbed his second by sending the keeper the wrong way from the spot - his strike so powerful that it even broke the net.
Ronaldo then capped off an impressive display by completing his hat-trick after good work from Mesut Ozil.
