    Gustavo Munúa

Pulled off a couple of fairly straightforward saves in the first half from Fabregas and Adriano. He will be disappointed to have been beaten twice as he could do little to stop either of Messi's goals.

  • Juan García García

    Juan García García

The full-back was given a fairly torrid time by the electric Alexis, and failed to tackle the Chilean on a couple of occasions, allowing him to put dangerous crosses into the area. Improved as his tormentor faded.

  • Ballesteros

    Ballesteros

A fine performance from the veteran defender. He did well to put pressure on Messi forcing him to shoot over from six yards out in 10th minute, but gave away some soft free kicks including one for a high boot on Fabregas in the first half. Perhaps guilty of standing off Messi as the Argentine stroked home his first goal, but put in some fine last-ditch tackles as Barcelona bombarded the Levante box late on.

  • Pedro López

    4
    3.00

    Pedro López

Put in some good challenges in the wide areas, particularly one on Messi after two minutes that stopped the Argentine running through on goal. Was fortunate to get away with a potential handball inside his own penalty area early in the second half. Had little chance to get forward as Barcelona attacked relentlessly in the second half.

  • Gustavo Daniel Cabral

    Gustavo Daniel Cabral

Pressured Barca's fluid front line well alongside the experienced Ballesteros. Dominated in the air at set pieces and during open play.

  • Barkero
    8
    4
    3.00

    Barkero

Levante's most dangerous threat going forward. He delivered the cross that resulted in the first-half penalty for Levante and then stepped up and dispatched the spot kick past Valdes. Had some lovely moments on the ball including a fine Cruyff turn past Adriano at the end of the first half. Replaced by Juanlu late on.

  • Iborra

    3
    3.00

    Iborra

Got about his business quietly and effectively in the first half, limiting Xavi's influence on the game. Faded in the second half as Barcelona fought their way back into the game.

  • Pedro Botelho
    8
    6
    3.00

    Pedro Botelho

A disappointing performance from the attacker. He started the game with a couple of poor deliveries and never really improved. He was shown a yellow card for a rash challenge on Lionel Messi 25 yards from his own goal, and then gave away the penalty in the second half for a foul on Cuenca. Rightly substituted in the second half.

  • Xavi Torres

    6
    3.00

    Xavi Torres

Tried to mark his namesake tightly in the first half and did a good job at times. Hacked Thiago down to give away a free kick in a dangerous area in the first half. Luckily for him it hit the wall. Comfortable on the ball throughout. He also had a late shot from distance saved by Valdes.

  • Valdo
    5
    3
    2.50

    Valdo

The midfielder was scythed down by Adriano before half-time and that perhaps had an impact on the rest of his performance as he was quiet and barely in the game. Shown a yellow card for arguing with the referee when Barcelona were awarded a penalty.

  • Arouna Kone
    6
    4
    3.00

    Arouna Kone

Ran, and ran, and ran. He did have a chance to shoot late in the first half but let the ball run too far away from goal. A tireless performance from the lone striker.

    Abdel Kader Ghezzal

Brought on for Botelho late on but had little time to make an impact.

    2.50

    Víctor Valdés

Had nothing to do in the first half apart from pick the ball out of the back of the net following Barkero's well-struck penalty. Tightened the angle well to make it difficult for Barkero to shoot in the second half.

  • Carles Puyol
    44

    3.00

    Carles Puyol

Outstanding at the back for his side, marshalling the three-man defence brilliantly. Read the game superbly to stop Barkero's shot running through to Kone in the 51st minute and defended bravely in the closing minutes.

  • Adriano
    24
    12
    2.50

    Adriano

The Brazilian defender had a long-range shot saved by Munua in the first half that was the highlight of his match. Was guilty of some mis-timed tackling including a horrible challenge on Valdo that resulted in a yellow card at the end of the first half. Tried to get forward whenever possible.

  • Cesc Fàbregas
    39
    11
    3.50

    Cesc Fàbregas

Played some incisive passes through the Levante defence early on. He also had a header saved by Munua after running on to an Alexis chip towards the end of the first half. An accomplished all-round performance in midfield from the midfielder.

  • Xavi
    34
    43
    2.50

    Xavi Flop of the Match

A quiet evening for the normally superb midfielder. Had little impact on the game in the first half and was taken off at half-time and replaced by Cuenca

  • Thiago Alcántara
    33
    14
    2.50

    Thiago Alcántara

Could have scored on a couple of occasions when he headed wide in the 10th minute after a decent cross from Alexis, and then had another header saved from a Messi free kick later on in the first half. Shown a yellow for protesting Adriano's booking. Composed on the ball throughout.

  • Javier Mascherano
    42
    9
    3.50

    Javier Mascherano

Continued to impress in a defensive role. He put in a fine challenge on Kone on five minutes as the in-form striker looked to get a shot away at Victor Valdes' goal and then tackled Valdo well on the hour mark as the Levante attacker threatened to break through on goal.

  • Busquets
    30
    13
    3.00

    Busquets

Conceded a penalty for handball in the first half after trying to block Juanfran's effort from Barkero's corner. Apart from that he was assured and read the game well, particularly when intercepting some dangerous passes from Barkero in the second half.

  • Alexis Sánchez
    28
    12
    2.50

    Alexis Sánchez

Caused Juanfran all sorts of problems when playing on the right-hand side in the first half. Less effective when he switched wings with Pedro, and remained isolated on the left after Cuenca was brought on to play on the right. Set up Messi's equaliser with a delicate touch on on the edge of the Levante box. Replaced by Dani Alves late on.

  • Lionel Messi
    111
    43
    3.50

Lionel Messi Top of the Match

Scored for the 10th consecutive game to level things up in the second half before adding a second from the spot minutes later. The first was a fine curling finish from the edge of the box after playing a neat one-two with Alexis while the second was a confident penalty past Munua.

  • Pedro
    27
    16
    2.50

    Pedro

Put a cross-shot wide of Munua's goal early on. Hammered a great low delivery across the six yard box on 15 minutes that none of his team-mates could capitalise on. Replaced by Iniesta after 53 minutes.

Substitutions

  • Daniel Alves
    19
    15
    3.00

    Daniel Alves

Introduced late on as Guardiola looked to defend his side's 2-1 lead. Full of energy.

  • Andrés Iniesta Luján
    27
    16
    3.50

    Andrés Iniesta Luján

Replaced Pedro to make his 400th appearance for the Catalans. Helped keep a hold of the ball as his side turned the match around from defeat to victory.

  • Cuenca
    50
    16
    3.00

    Cuenca

The youngster's pace troubled Levante's defence in the second half. Did well to win the penalty in the second half when Botelho fouled him.
