  • That's all for us today as Valencia jump Levante in the standings for third place behind an own goal from Javi Venta and a striker from Tino Costa. As always, thank you for joining us. Please stick with us for the match report and player ratings. I'm Roger Gonzalez, and it's been a pleasure.
  • Game over. Levante 0-2 Valencia. Spain's surprise club fall in the Valencia derby against Unai Emery's men.
  • 90' + 2'
    Yellow Card Pablo Piatti
  • 90' + 2'
Piatti almost adds a third late but his shot flies to the left as the match ends.
  • 90'
    Two minutes of added time.
  • 90'
Valencia are holding on in the final minutes as Levante are minutes away from being held goalless in consecutive games for the first time this season.
  • 89'
Bit of a frenzy in the box as Aranda is allowed to control the ball in front of goal off a throw-in. Valencia try to desperately clear with the ball hitting several players as Levante ask for a handball.
  • 88'
The victory would see Valencia jump Levante into a tie with Barcelona at 24 points, with Messi and company playing tomorrow.
  • 87'
Three minutes remain plus added time as Valencia look for the counter.
  • 85'
Pablo Hernandez gifts the ball to Levante to start the counter. Kone takes the ball down the right, and does the same, giving the ball to Valencia. Pablo recovers the ball, and it's his turn again to turn the ball over, which he does. What a sloppy minute by each team.
  • 83'
Pablo Hernandez comes on for Feghouli.
  • 82'
    SubstitutionSofiane Feghouli Pablo Hernández
  • 80'
Valencia control the ball down the right, looking to see off the final minutes of the game. Many supporters are probably thinking about the first Bayer Leverkusen game, where the Germans scored two goals in three minutes to destroy Emery's night.
  • 79'
Valencia's defenders have played well all game. Sticking their foot in at the right time to knock the ball away. Little over 10 minutes away from an important victory.
  • 76'
    SubstitutionBarkero Farinós
  • 76'
Nice little chance for Valencia there as Feghouli makes a great move but hits the ball poorly as it falls comfortably to Munua.
  • 75'
Soldado comes off for Piatti as the result looks certain. Nice little rest for the Spaniard, who takes his sweet time to exit the pitch.
  • 74'
    SubstitutionRoberto Soldado Pablo Piatti
  • 74'
Guaita!!! What a save from the Spaniard on Aranda's left-footed effort, which nearly found the right side of the goal. The diving save from the Valencia custodian keeps the advantage at two.
  • 71'
Wow. Nothing really else can be said. Kone is sent into the box with a header, but his effort from the right post flies over the goal as he looked to send the ball across the face of goal to a teammate.
  • 68'
Aduriz makes his first real appearance after he is sent through after a gorgeous cut by Feghouli lead to a pass down the right. The Spaniard wins a corner after his cross from the flank is cleared. Tino Costa takes the cross, but it's sent out rapidly as Levante look to turn the tide with little time left.
  • 67'
    SubstitutionJuanlu Rubén Suárez
  • 65'
Juanlu is coming off in favour of Ruben Suarez.
  • 62'
    Yellow Card Carlos Aranda
  • 61'
30 minutes remain as Levante look to fight back. Dani Parejo is warming up Valencia as little happens on the pitch.
  • 60'
Javi Venta is being awarded the first strike an own goal. Jordi Alba won't be too happy when he finds out as his touch is what led to the goal.
  • 57'
Viewing the replay of Costa's goal, Munua will certainly be saddened. There is no explanation for why that was a goal as he moved right with the ball going left.
  • 55'
    SubstitutionIborra Carlos Aranda
  • 54'
First change in the Levante side coming as the derby is slipping away.
  • 52'
Valencia almost add their third as Tino Costa finds space in the box, nearly connecting with the head of Jordi Alba.
  • 51'
    Yellow Card Adil Rami
  • 50'
    Goal Tino Costa
GOAL VALENCIA! OFF A SET PIECE! TINO COSTA IT IS! After Soldado is fouled outside the box, Costa fires home from a free-kick, aiming for the left post with the ball flying into the right. Hard to tell if it hit a defender or just had tremendous curve. Regardless, Valencia lead 2-0!
  • 49'
    Yellow Card Nano
  • 49'
Valencia come out a bit shaky in the second half, failing to settle the ball down. Levante are attacking in numbers, leaving the counter open for their rivals.
  • 47'
Valdo wins an early corner after Ruiz clears the attacker's cross, but the home side do nothing with the chance as Valencia go on the counter.
  • 46'
    The second half has begun.
  • 45' + 1'
That is the end of the first half. Levante 0-1 Valencia.
  • 45'
One minute of added time as a free-kick from Barkero looks for the right post, but it wasn't too close, flying wide.
  • 44'
The game is getting very physical as Aduriz and Ballesteros make contact. Numerous yellow cards as Rami and Juanlu get really close, perhaps too close. A headbutt looked to be coming but the ref breaks it up.
  • 42'
    Yellow Card Xavi Torres
  • 42'
Guaita punches the cross out. No problems in defence for Valencia up to this point aside from Juanlu's early effort.
  • 41'
Corner to Levante after Juanlu is denied by Barragan.
  • 40'
    Yellow Card Gustavo Munúa
  • 40'
    Yellow Card Ballesteros
  • 39'
    Yellow Card Jordi Alba
  • 38'
Watching the replay of the handball by Iborra, it looked like a clear penalty. A bullet dodged by Levante.
  • 37'
    Yellow Card Iborra
  • 36'
Tino Costa takes it, but his effort flies off a defender. Tough luck for Valencia there. Close call on the handball.
  • 35'
Bit of confusion on the field right now. Valencia players are asking for a penalty kick after a handball at the edge of the box. Free-kick is awarded.
  • 32'
What a lovely pass from Tino Costa. The Argentine's effort is the reason why Valencia are up 1-0.
  • 31'
    Assist Jordi Alba
  • 31'
    Own Goal Javi Venta
Own goal! Valencia are up 1-0! After a brilliant through ball from Tino Costa, Jordi Alba goes through into the box. His effort hits off Javi Venta and rolls into the goal slowly.
  • 29'
Levante now have the ball deep in Valencia's territory. It's been a while since the home side have had an attacking effort. However, a throw-in from the left side sees the team lose the ball quickly.
  • 27'
Little early credit needs to go to Barragan, who is adding a nice little dimension to the attack, showing his lack of fear of shooting from deep.
  • 24'
Emery looks a little nervous from the side of the pitch. Both teams really have yet to show much. The loss of Banega is certainly hurting Valencia.
  • 24'
Emery looks a little nervous from the side of the pitch. Both teams really have yet to show much. The loss of Banega is certainly hurting Valencia.
  • 21'
Solid movement by Valencia as most are involved in their game of possession. However, it has still proved tough for the visitors to get a solid look on goal thus far.
  • 18'
Valencia do nothing with the corner but manage to invade the Levante box soon after, but the failure to control the ball and set up a shot results in an effort from Barragan, who imitates Levante by shooting the ball into the crowd.
  • 15'
    SubstitutionBruno Barragán
  • 15'
Corner to Valencia after a dangerous cross from Mathieu flies right by the head of Soldado and cleared.
  • 14'
Juanlu plays a high ball over the top to Kone, but the Ivorian sends the ball way to the right of the goal from the right side of the box. After the attempt, Bruno does in fact come off for Barragan.
  • 13'
It looks like Bruno will come off early in favour of Barragan.
  • 11'
Juanlu! The midfielder looked to test Guaita, but his effort on the left flies into the stands.
  • 9'
Great job by Javi Venta at the top of the box to contain Jordi Alba, who was almost sent through on goal from Mathieu. The Levante man contend the pacey Valencia star with a physical push, one that the ref saw no problem with.
  • 8'
Free-kick from the right side from Tina Costa, who sends in a cross that falls comfortably to Munua.
  • 7'
Tino Costa looks comfortable so far in the role of Ever Banega. Passing well and providing fluid movement.
  • 6'
Valencia are really pressing in the early moments of the game, going with everything they have against their rivals.
  • 3'
Tough foul on the right side. Free-kick coming for Valencia as Bruno holds his ankle. He is still down.
  • 2'
Guaita! Great save from the Spaniard on Juanlu! Barkero provided the ball to his teammate, who nearly had a goal from inside the box.
  • 1'
More fouls than football in the first half, but Valencia take a deserved advantage into the break. We will be back shortly with coverage of the second half and any modifications.
  • 1'
    The match has begun!
  • Here we go. The match is minutes away!
  • For the Champions League competitors, there are no real shocks. Emery does opt for Aritz Aduriz in favour of Jonas, allowing the Spaniard to prove his worth. The Brazilian will surely make an appearance tonight. Miguel and Ricardo Costa are not on the bench as they have slight injuries, but surely Valencia supporters won't cry with the absence of the latter.
  • For Valencia: Guaita; Bruno, Rami, Victor Ruiz, Mathieu; Feghouli, Albelda, T. Costa, J. Alba; Aduriz, Soldado
  • Injuries to Javi Venta, Barkero and Kone have obviously healed this week as all three are fit to play.
  • For the home side: Munua; Javi Venta, Ballesteros, Nano, Juanfran; Valdo, Iborra, Xavi Torres, Juanlu, Barkero; Kone
  • Starting XI for both teams is a moment.
  • It's an unusual Saturday night without Barcelona or Real Madrid in action. But, we can't complain with one of the week's tastiest match-ups as up-start Levante host their rivals. Whether the city is painted red and blue or white and orange tonight remains to be seen. The action is just minutes away!
  • As we review the standings, the home side sit in third place, two points ahead of fourth-placed Valencia. This is the first time since the mid 1960's that Levante sit ahead of their rivals heading into a league match.
