In a rampant display the Polish pair scored two each to ensure BVB were crowned champions in emphatic style

Borussia Dortmund beat Freiburg 4-0 on Saturday to secure a record number of Bundesliga points.

Robert Lewandowski netted a double with Poland team-mate Jakub Blaszczykowski also scoring two either side to round off the champions' season in style.

Dortmund went into the game with only two injuries in Patrick Owomoyela with a calf strain and long term absentee Julian Koch, Lukasz Piszczek replaced Owomoyela at right-back and Lewandowski started in place of Lucas Barrios, who claimed a hat-trick in his previous outing.

In contrast, SC Freiburg entered the game as rank outsiders, relieved at recently securing their survival in top-flight German football for at least another season. They entered the fixture with just one first-team player missing in Julian Schuster who missed out with a facial injury.

On a wet Saturday afternoon, the prospective champions started as they meant to go on with an outstanding first-half display to put the game to bed by half-time.

The first goal came after just four minutes, when an impressive series of passes, starting with the home team's defence provided the perfect build-up for Ilkay Gundogan to slide the ball into Blaszczykowski who turned a right-footed strike past Daniel Batz in the Freiburg goal.

In the 20th minute, the lead was doubled when Neven Subotic assisted Lewandowski to place a left-foot shot from the left side of the box into the bottom right corner.

Freiburg failed to respond and seemed to implode, allowing wave after wave of attack at their woeful defence. The third goal came 27 minutes into the game, courtesy of a scrappy second goal for Lewandowski which owed a lot to a determined, if not lucky, rampage by Piszczek down the right wing.

The fourth goal on the 39 minutes was the pick of the bunch, as a quick break from Dortmund saw Shinji Kagawa tee up Blaszczykowski to slot a right-footed shot from outside the box into the bottom right corner of the Freiburg net.

At half time the party atmosphere inside the ground was obvious for all to see. The visitors had produced a terrible performance and things looked like they would only get worse in the second period.

The second half was less damaging for Freiburg, who managed not to concede again as a relaxed Dortmund side eased off their opponents while the visiting team's winless run at Signal Iduna Park, dating back to 2001-02, continues.

Dortmund also extended their record unbeaten streak to 28 games and produced an emphatic victory in front of the ecstatic home crowd.
