Live Commentary

  • Thank you very much for joining me, everyone. Be sure to tune in to tomorrow for all the action from Bayern Munich's Bavarian derby with Nurnberg.
  • And that's pretty much the last kick of the game. Bayern Munich can close the gap at the top of the Bundesliga to just three points after Christian Gentner rescues a draw for Stuttgart at the death with a late, late equaliser. Dortmund will rue their wastefulness, having led 2-0 at one point, and then failing to close out the game once they had edged in front again. What a game Bayern Munich's trip to Signal Iduna Park will be...
  • 90' + 2'
    Goal Christian Gentner
GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is this really happening?!?! Hummels and Schmelzer make a complete meal out of dealing with a high ball, it falls kindly to Gentner, who turns inside Kehl and lifts it over Weidenfeller to net a dramatic equaliser.
  • 90'
Just 15 seconds of normal time remain as Perisic wins a corner. BVB aren't particularly eager for the ball to leave the vicinity of the corner flag, and manage to wind down a minute.
  • 87'
    Yellow Card Ivan Perisic
  • 87'
    Assist Marcel Schmelzer
  • 87'
    Goal Ivan Perisic
GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unbelievable!!! Perisic meets Schmelzer's corner at the near post, and sends a sweeping volley into the back of the net. On the touchline, Jurgen Klopp jumps about 10 feet into the air.
  • 86'
OFF THE LINE!!!! Lewandowski pinches the ball past Ulreich and tries to finish from a narrow angle, only for Niedermeier to come across and clear it off the line!
  • 84'
    SubstitutionJulian Schieber Mamadou Bah
  • 83'
The Polish connection almost provides a winner for Dortmund. Piszczek puts in an incredible ball which fizzes past the head of Lewandowski, when any contact would surely have seen the ball end up in the back of the net.
  • 82'
    Yellow Card Robert Lewandowski
  • 82'
    Assist Sebastian Kehl
  • 82'
    Goal Mats Hummels
GOAL!!!!!!! It's 3-3!!! Hummels pivots brilliantly on the edge of the box, before sending a great right-footed effort straight into the bottom corner. Such an accurate shot - Ulreich had no chance!
  • 81'
    SubstitutionShinji Kagawa L. Barrios
  • 80'
LEWANDOWSKI!!!! Dortmund try and get a quick equaliser through their top scorer, who forces a great save from Ulreich with a powerful effort from distance.
  • 79'
    SubstitutionKevin Großkreutz Ivan Perisic
  • 79'
    Goal Julian Schieber
GOAL!!!!!! Kehl loses the ball in midfield, and it breaks to Schieber, who takes aim and fires left-footed into the bottom corner. Incredible drama - Bayern must be breathing a collective sigh of relief.
  • 77'
    Goal Julian Schieber
GOAL!!!!!! Hummels and Subotic both go for the same long ball, which falls kindly to Schieber. The 23-year-old strides forward, dodges a volley of tackles, rounds Weidenfeller and taps it home.
  • 76'
BVB set about trying to restore their two-goal lead, with Kagawa, Grosskreutz and Lewandowski, but the triumvirate struggle to find a way through the stern Stuttgart defence.
  • 76'
BVB set about trying to restore their two-goal lead, with Kagawa, Grosskreutz and Lewandowski, but the triumvirate struggle to find a way through the stern Stuttgart defence.
  • 74'
Harnik finally impresses, spraying a cross-field ball to Molinaro, who sends in a great ball towards the far post which is smothered away for a corner. Stuttgart are really going for it.
  • 71'
    Assist Georg Niedermeier
  • 71'
    Goal Vedad Ibisevic
GOAL!!! Ibisevic gets the visitors back into the game. Niedermeier feeds the Bosnian, who picks his spot and calmly strokes it into the back of the net. What an ending we're in store for!
  • 70'
    SubstitutionTamas Hajnal Christian Gentner
  • 69'
ULREICH!!! Brilliant goalkeeping from the Stuttgart man, who rushes off his line to palm away a brilliant Kagawa flick with Dortmund looking dangerous.
  • 67'
    SubstitutionIlkay Gündogan Sven Bender
  • 67'
SO CLOSE!!! Another corner threatens the Dortmund defence, but Subotic beats Ibisevic to the ball and heads it behind for another corner. The hosts clear this one, and stride forward in numbers, but as the ball falls to Grosskreutz, he miss-controls it and the opportunity is lost.
  • 66'
And now Dortmund make their first change. Ilkay Gundogan leaves the Signal Iduna Park pitch to a rapturous standing ovation. He had a great game, but with Bender coming on, Klopp seems to want to make sure his side don't let the visitors back in the match.
  • 63'
OFF THE POST!!!! Now it's Stuttgart's turn to hit the woodwork. Kvist picks up the ball in the centre of the park, sidesteps Hummels' challenge and sends in a beautiful shot which has the sprawling Weidenfeller beaten, but the post saves Dortmund. Great effort.
  • 61'
    SubstitutionArthur Boka Cristian Molinaro
Meanwhile, Boka, has been replaced by Molinaro. He had let Kuba have far too much room there.
  • 60'
And Stuttgart threaten with their first corner of the game. Hajnal chips the ball into the box, and Ibisevic meets it well, only to send his header over. He had to lean back to reach the ball, but really could have done better there.
  • 60'
Harnik, who's had an uncharacteristically quiet night on the right wing for Stuttgart, puts in a threatening ball with a volley, but it's headed behind by Hummels.
  • 58'
Gundogan, again, plays a lovely ball to Kuba, who brilliantly steps around Niedermeier but blasts his shot well-over. He was capable of far better there.
  • 55'
CHANCE!!! Schmelzer picks out Lewandowski with a great ball, but after the 23-year-old expertly brought the ball down, he skies his shot.
  • 54'
    Yellow Card Zdravko Kuzmanovic
Kuzmanovic picks up a yellow card for tugging on Gundogan's shirt, then complaining at length to the referee about the decision. Silly booking to get.
  • 52'
So Dortmund look like they're going to extend their formidable unbeaten run in the Bundesliga, and pile the pressure on Bayern Munich. As it stands, they'll be eight points ahead of the Bavarians.
  • 49'
    Assist Mats Hummels
  • 49'
    Goal Jakub Blaszczykowski
GOAL!!!!!!! Kuba has more luck this time, brilliantly collecting a lovely Hummels ball at the far post, and slipping a shot underneath Ulreich. Dortmund have their two-goal cushion!
  • 48'
POST!!! Kuba strikes the woodwork with a low, powerful shot from the edge corner of the box!!! So close!!
  • 47'
Kagawa collects the ball in the centre of the Stuttgart box, but he's heavily marked and loses possession. Gundogan tries to get the ball back into the area, but Ulreich claims it.
  • 47'
Subotic plays a long ball forward, but it's in little danger of troubling Stuttgart, and it drifts through to Ulreich, harmlessly.
  • 46'
And we're back underway! Stuttgart get the match restarted.
  • And that's half-time. Borussia Dortmund have looked good value for their lead going into the break, thoroughly dominating their guests, with Ilkay Gundogan particularly impressive. Jurgen Klopp's men have laid siege to the Stuttgart box, but have been in lucky in front of goal.
  • So, we're almost back from the break. This was quite a contest in the first half, be sure to stay tuned for all the action after the restart. Dortmund haven't even looked like they miss Bender...
  • 43'
Dortmund haven't looked back since scoring. They've really had all the possession, after the goal, and every time they lose the ball, they get it back immediately.
  • 41'
GUNDOGAN!!!! The Germany midfielder picks his moment, and drives a left-footed shot goal-wards. He's unable to produce a second goal for his side, but a deflection ensures the hosts have a corner, which is promptly wasted.
  • 40'
A volley of abuse is raining down on the officials, after Mats Hummels, of all people, is caught narrowly offside.
  • 38'
Well, it's been quite a first half so far. Dortmund could have four, five, or even six goals up by now, and would be but for some brilliant defending and the woodwork. But while it's still 1-0, there's always a chance that Stuttgart will work their way back into the match.
  • 36'
Dortmund are not content with their one-goal lead, it seems. Piszczek strides into the box, but is stopped in his tracks by Niedermeier. The ball breaks to Kuba, who shoots, but his strike is straight at Ulreich.
  • 33'
    Assist Sebastian Kehl
  • 33'
    Goal Shinji Kagawa
GOAL!!!!!! It's finally there. Gundogan plays a clever ball to Schmelzer, who crosses to Kehl. The Dortmund skipper heads it down, and Kagawa is there to blast the ball into the roof of the net. Great stuff, and a deserved opener for the hosts.
  • 31'
GROSSKREUTZ!!! Ulreich comes for a cross, and gets it all wrong, missing the ball completely. The ball falls kindly to Grosskreutz, who can't find the angle for a shot, elects to feed Gundogan, whose shot is promptly charged down.
  • 30'
CONTROVERSY!! Ibisevic runs between the Dortmund defence, knocks the ball past Weidenfeller, and promptly throws himself to the floor. His pleas for a penalty are waved away, but Weidenfeller is livid that his opponent didn't pick up a booking.
  • 29'
Piszczek's long throw is headed as far as Gundogan, who has enough confidence to shoot from distance, but his shot is poorly-hit and drifts well-wide.
  • 27'
Ilkay Gundogan swings in yet another ball, but this one is too close to Ulreich, who claims it confidently.
  • 24'
You've really got to wonder what Dortmund have to do in order to score here. Gundogan floats yet another brilliant ball to the far post onto Grosskreutz' boot, but the German sees his well-struck shot cannon off the crossbar.
  • 21'
UNBELIEVABLE!!! It's a real end-to-end contest now. Gundogan plays an absolutely fantastic pass into Lewandowski's path. The big Pole manages to ghost past Niedermeier, go around Ulreich and shoot goal-wards, only for Niedermeier to appear from nowhere and head the powerful shot out of play. Heroic defending.
  • 20'
WHAT A MISS!!!! Hajnal puts in a lovely ball for Schieber, who is in acres of space at the far post, but still manages to sky his shot with the goal gaping. Weidenfeller is livid with his defence.
  • 19'
Kuba strides towards the area, but as he attempts to trick Niedermeier with some quick feet, the Stuttgart forward gets a strong tackle in.
  • 17'
SO CLOSE!!! Gundogan chips in a lovely cross to Lewandowski, who appears to have put the hosts in front, only for Saki to get across and block the shot, with Ulreich beaten. Lewandowski appeals for hand-ball, but it appeared to come off Sakai's thigh.
  • 16'
Brilliant defending from Sakai. Lewandowski brilliantly flicks on a high ball towards Grosskreutz, but the Japanese defender gets across well and shepherds the ball out of play.
  • 13'
Lewandowski is remonstrating with the linesman, who has ruled that the Pole handled the ball as he looked to chest down a long ball. It seemed like a harsh decision.
  • 12'
Stuttgart move forward, once again through Hajnal, but his attempt to float a cross towards the far post is mishit and drifts out for goal kick. He could have produced far better there.
  • 9'
Weidenfeller has been called into action for the first time. Hajnal finds himself unmarked, and onside, in the hosts' box, but the Dortmund 'keeper blocks his pass across the face of goal.
  • 8'
Stuttgart seem to have steadied the ship, now, after a prolonged period of Dortmund pressure. The visitors have finally managed to string a few passes together.
  • 6'
This is quite a start from the hosts. Boka heads a high ball straight to Kagawa, who volleys it goal-wards, but Ulreich gets down and makes a solid save.
  • 4'
And another Dortmund attack!!! After some careful build up play, Kuba has a dig from the edge of the box, only to see his goal-bound shot go narrowly wide via a deflection. The referee, inexplicably, gives a goal-kick.
  • 4'
Dortmund go on the attack again, but as Gundogan tries to play in Grosskreutz, the Germany forward is flagged narrowly offside.
  • 2'
Ilkay Gundogan swings in an early corner, and although the initial cross is cleared, the ball falls to Kagawa, who has a dig from 20 yards, only to see his low drive go narrowly wide. Great start from the hosts!
  • 1'
