Miles Chambers reports from the Reebok Stadium: “It wasn't an utterly dominant performance from Martin Jol's men, but Clint Dempsey helped inspire a well-deserved victory for Fulham. The loss brings Bolton back to reality, but results going their way in other Premier League matches mean they will still sit in 16th in the table at the end of the day. The Cottagers' win also leaves them in the same position - 10th - but they sit just two points off seventh with the 3-0 victory in the bag.”

Bolton end their run of three consecutive wins with a comprehensive defeat to Fulham. The Trotters struggled to create chances against a solid Cottagers defence, while Martin Jol's side counter-attacked decisively in the course of the match. Damien Duff in particular had an excellent game, tormenting his opponent on the right flank Marcos Alonso and setting up Clint Dempsey's headed second goal. The American had earlier got his team off to a good start with a precise freekick and together with Bryan Ruiz threatened throughout the match. Bolton could not match up over the course of the game and will be thankful fellow strugglers Blackburn and Wigan also lost today as they fight to stay in the Premier League.

Fulham are maintaining control over the match with Bolton struggling to create going forward after a bright start. They will look to Kevin Davies to help make the most of service from the wings in their orthodox 4-4-2 formation, and hope Ivan Klasnic can nick a goal to give the away side something to worry about in the last ten minutes.

Bryan Ruiz is taken off for Dickson Etuhu with what appears to be an ankle injury after falling awkwardly while attempting to block a cross. The Costa Rican is unfortunate in that the referee did not stop play while he was on the ground and the result was he was accused of timewasting by an unforgiving crowd.

Diarra powerfully dispossesses Ivan Klasnic just as he is ready to pull the trigger with a left foot shot from the centre of the box. It was an important intervention.

Petrov drives in a freekick from the left flank which is headed clear by Hangeland. After the attack breaks down Fulham pour forward on the break and Diarra is unlucky not to find one of his teammates through on goal with a pass from the right flank.

Damien Duff continues his excellent performance getting around the outside of Marcos Alonso again and winning a corner, which is headed towards goal by Aaron Hughes but cleared for a Riise long throw.

Fulham break 2 v 2 as Bolton attempt to catch up but Dempsey loses control of the ball after attempting to work space for a shot running to the right of the defence.

Top scorer Ivan Klasnic with 8 goals over the season replaces the hard working and athletic N'Gog up front as Bolton attempt to give themselves more of a cutting edge up front.

Duff gets put through on the right wing and dashes towards goal and a chance to put the Cottager 3-0 up, but Bogdan saves the low effort diving to his right.

Clint Dempsey grazes the side netting after exchanging passes with Kacaniklic on the edge of the box before hitting a low shot just wide to the left of the goal.

N'Gog is put through on goal down the right channel but Riise makes a spectacular recovery run from left back to tackle the forward inside the box.

Duff shows great skill and balance down the other end of the pitch as he holds off then breaks past Alonso on the right edge of the box to put himself through on goal against Bogdan, who saves the Irishman's low shot diving to his left.

A neat interchange in midfield puts Eagles through down the right flank but N'Gog is unable to connect with his cross. The ball remains in and around the Trotters' box but they are unable to break through.

Hangeland gracefully tackles Mark Davies to put an end to a dangerous run from the Englishman.

Marcos Alonso and Aaron Hughes are each taken off to receive treatment in the aftermath of the corner after the pair clash heads, while Moussa Dembele also receives attention after being struck by a Chris Eagles effort.

Mark Davies floats in a cross from the right flank and Diarra is on hand to make sure the ball out for a corner.

Chris Eagles, who appears in place of Miyaichi on the right of midfield, curls a freekick above the right corner of the goal from the left flank.

Miles Chambers reports from the Reebok Stadium: “Fulham lead 2-0 from two Clint Dempsey goals. The first was an inch-perfect, curled free kick on the 30-minute mark, but the second was a simple tap-in with his head from Damien Duff’s pinpoint cross. Bolton have not played poorly but their defending in that final passage of play was atrocious - the American was completely unmarked and in acres of space as he compounded the Trotters’ misery.”

HALF TIME at the Reebok Stadium, and Fulham are on track for only their third away win of the season. The Cottagers have largely contained Bolton's attacking threat and restricted the Trotters to the occasional cross from the wings. It is possible that when their goal came through Clint Dempsey's freekick their keeper Adam Bogdan could have saved the strike, but the Hungarian had been forced to the opposite corner of the goal by the threat of a John Arne Riise striker to the opposite corner. However, Martin Jol's side have looked dangerous on the break throughout, and the impressive Damien Duff ensured this is reflected in the scoreline with his excellent wing play to set up Clint Dempsey's header for the second goal. Despite having the joint worst away record in the league before the start of this match, the West London side have also conceded the fifth fewest on their travels and will leave the Totters a tough task in rescuing a point from the game.

Damien Duff gets the better of Marcos Alonso on the left edge of the box as he feints to come inside on his left foot but instead knocks the ball beyond the Spaniard on the outside. His chipped cross with his weaker right foot is accurate and Clint Dempsey rises on the edge of the six yard box to head past Bogdan, who could do little about it.

Kacaniklic is released down the left flank by Dempsey as Fulham look to break, and wins a corner after Ricketts is on hand to block his cross. The short corner is not a success and Bolton regroup for a goal kick.

Duff cuts inside from the right and puts in a dangerous cross to the far post. Alan Pardew is pictured in the stands and he might well want Hatem Ben Arfa to attack Bolton in the same way when his Newcastle take on the Trotters.

Nigel Reo-Coker follows up with a run at the defence and a powerful low shot, which Schwarzer is well positioned to save.

Petrov puts in 3 excellent crosses in a short space of time and N'Gog connects with one but is unable to direct his effort on target.

Bolton right back Sam Ricketts expertly cuts inside Riise on the right flank but none of his teammates are able to connect with the cross.

N'Gog manages to find space to turn on the edge of the box and shoots firmly towards the left of goal, but the diving Schwarzer is able to save comfortably.

Wheater slides in to prevent Riise receiving a through ball down the left of the Bolton penalty area. It was a quick break straight down the middle and the Trotters don't want to allow too many of those.

Dempsey acrobatically fires over a scissor kick from Stephen Kelly's cross after Kacaniklic and Duff combined well down the right of midfield on the break.

Diarra wins a central freekick on the edge of the box after a driving run forward from midfield is ended by N'Gog's tackle.

Bolton attempt a tight interchange of passes on the edge of the box but are unable to break through.

Petrov works hard down the left flank against Stephen Kelly and wins a corner , but the near post delivery is headed wide by Alonso.

Duff is given too much room by Alonso and cuts inside onto his left foot again and blasts a shot at goal from the edge of the box. The ball deflects off the Bolton defenders and into the path of Clint Dempsey who buries the ball in the back of the net, but is rightly called offside.

Petrov's freekick is short and Diarra is able to head clear.

Bolton come back again and more exchange passes in the Fulham box, winning a freekick from Riise on the right flank.

John Arne Riise blasts the ball clear of the Fulham penalty area to end a spell of Trotters possession.

Duff cuts in onto his left foot and fires a low shot just wide of the right post as Adam Bogdan dives to make sure.

Hangeland fouls N'Gog on the half way line as the Cameroonian forward attempts to shield the ball.

David N'Gog shields the ball on the edge of the box before firing a tame shot that squirms through the defence but finds its way into the arms of Mark Schwarzer.

Bolton win the ball and break quickly through Mark Davies. The ball makes its way to David N'Gog on the right edge of the box and he cuts back for Ryo Miyaichi but the Japanese winger cannot find the finish.

The away side are content to sit back and draw out the opposition before they attack, and when released down the right flank Damien Duff floats in a dinked ball which Wheater does well to clear.

Fulham enjoy a sustained spell of possession that results in a freekick on the half way line when David Wheater lands a crunching tackle on Clint Dempsey.

The home crowd cheer as Petrov and David N'Gog combine to release Marcos Alonso on the overlap down the left flank, but the Spaniard's cross is overhit.

Alex Kacaniklic advances down the left flank and pulls a cross back across goal, but David Wheater is on hand to clear the danger.

Bryan Ruiz is put through on goal from midfield but the pass is just overhit and keeper Adam Bogdan comes to collect. Bolton were lucky.

Fulham are missing Russian striker Pavel Pogrebnyak and will rely on versatile forwards Bryan Ruiz and Clint Dempsey for their attacking threat today. Midfielder Alex Kacaniklic makes his first start for the Cottagers on the left of midfield after appearing as a substitute last week against Norwich.

Darren Pratley recovers from a thigh injury to take his place in a three man centre midfield, with Ivan Klasnic on the bench as David N'Gog starts on his own up front.
