Bolton are likely to be without first-choice right-back Gretar Steinsson after the Iceland international missed the Trotters draw with Sunderland, with manager Owen Coyle also confirming him as a doubt for Spurs' visit, Manchester City loanee, Dedryck Boyata may replace him.

Nigel Reo-Coker picked up a knock at the Stadium of Light but is expected to be fit in time for Wednesday's match but the tie will come too early for Lee Chung-Yong who is back in training after suffering a broken leg in pre-season.

Harry Redknapp will have to make do without Benoit Assou-Ekotto, who had surgery on Monday on a dislocated shoulder and will not feature again this season, Danny Rose will continue at left-back.

Scott Parker missed Spurs' weekend win over Blackburn Rovers with an Achilles problem and Brazilian Sandro may deputise for the stand-in England captain once again, while Louis Saha has been out for two weeks with a groin injury and is unlikely to feature at the Reebok.

  • Only Wolves (43) have conceded more goals at home in the league this season than Bolton (33).
  • Owen Coyle's side have not kept a clean sheet in their last 12 Premier League matches since a 0-0 draw with Arsenal on February 1.

  • Spurs have picked up just three Premier League points in away games that they have conceded the opening goal in all season.
  • Rafael van der Vaart (pictured right) netted against Blackburn on Sunday to become the first player to score 10 or more league goals in a season for Spurs since Jermain Defoe and Dimitar Berbatov in 2007-08 and 2008-09.

The former Manchester United midfielder has always been a player of great talent but has added a consistency to that in recent years and his contribution has been key as the Trotters have looked to drag themselves out of the relegation scrap.

The winger has a handy knack of popping up with a goal as well as providing for his team-mates and Owen Coyle will be hoping the winger can deliver the goods on Wednesday night.

The flying Welshman hinted he may consider his options if Spurs fail to qualify for next season's Champions League, but it could be up to him to guarantee a top-four spot.

Aaron Lennon's reintroduction to the side has taken the pressure of Bale and allowed him to focus his energies down the left flank, where he flourishes best utilising blistering pace, bullish strength and a devastating left foot to full effect.
Prediction
Fabrice Muamba could be in attendance at the Reebok after his collapse against Spurs earlier in the season, and the midfielder's presence, if he is there, may give the Trotters an added impetus to get three points in their quest for survival.

Tottenham's squad is packed with quality however and with pressure possibly taken off them by Roy Hodgson's imminent appointment as England manager, Harry Redknapp's side will be able to fully focus on a win that can cement fourth place in the league.
