Referee: M. Oliver
Attendance: 40999
Player Ratings: Chelsea 3-0 Bolton
Recalled Frank Lampard shows exactly why he should be a regular in the Blues first team, as Daniel Sturridge and Didier Drogba also impress in comfortable victory
By Josh Clarke at Stamford Bridge
I doubt that he has enjoyed as quiet a game as today in a long, long time. Will be thankful for the rest.
Rarely beaten though perhaps did not test Bolton's reluctance to attack by bombing forward enough himself.
A typical display. Defensively sound and keen to join in attacking-wise. Blues fans will be hoping that any rift with the manager can be put to one side.
Showed a striker’s instinct in the box, with Chelsea’s opener entirely down to his drive and forward impetus. Still prone to giving the ball away at key times though will be thankful of the clean sheet
Seemed to be well acquainted with the threats his former team-mates had to offer though in truth was rarely threatened.
Did the dirty work for Chelsea in the middle of the park and his familiarity seemed to lift both the spirits of his team and the crowd.
Anonymous for large spells though full of the running he usually brings. Did little in terms of creative output.
A robust and willing display that showed he should clearly be a mainstay in the Chelsea midfield. Initiated a lot of Chelsea moves while also remaining responsible for his defensive duties. Put the cherry on the top with the third goal.
Unusually subdued by his standards though provided the odd spark here and there and got the assist for Lampard's finish.
Looked sharp up front with an array of neat turns and awkward-to-defend muscle up front. Brought Sturridge and Mata into the game and effectively won the game for his team with a textbook Drogba header.
It’s difficult to see him getting the time as a centre forward that he's so desperately clamouring for, mainly because of his effectiveness cutting in from the flank. Faded a little in the second which was unusual, as Chelsea seemed to grow in confidence.
Got a slight run around but couldn't add to Chelsea's tally
Will be thankful for the minutes on the pitch though could do little with the time granted him
Little he could do for the goals but made a few key stops to deny Sturridge in the first half.
Steinsson. Managed to subdue Mata but will have to take some accountability for his side's heavy defeat.
Given the runaround by Sturridge early on but grew in stature as the game developed.
Marshalled Tim Ream through the game reasonably well though he made a hash of a clearance which led to David Luiz's opener.
The hulking figure of Didier Drogba was never going to be a comforting welcome to the Premier League but he acquitted himself well. Chelsea's unrelenting pressure meant he was never going to enjoy a comfortable game.
Dwarved by Didier Drogba for Chelsea's second goal, which effectively sealed his team's fate. Struggled to impose himself.
Had an excellent chance to draw his team level within seconds of Chelsea opening the scoring though drove wide. Was over-run for large chunks of the game.
Booked for diving in the first half after an incident where a penalty could have easily been awarded.
Stuck on the right flank as Bolton attempted to outnumber the home side in the middle. Was a game where he offered more in endeavour than in output.
Cut a very isolated figure as Bolton's solitary front man. Hauled off after 65 minutes after a thankless shift
Afforded scant opportunity to attack though when he did, seemed to be his side's most threatening outlet with some decent surges down the left.
Really should have started but when he came on, the game was already dead and buried.
Had little chance to impact proceedings.
