A Peter Odemwingie hat-trick sees the Baggies ease their relegation fears by demolishing their Black Country rivals, who put in a lacklustre display at Molineux
By John Stammers
A mixed bag for the Welsh keeper. He made a number of superb stops in the first-half and rescued Bassong by saving expertly after the Frenchman gave the ball away at the back. Unfortunate to concede the first goal, which took a deflection off Edwards and was in man's land for the visitors' second. Got his positioning all wrong from the corner and then let Olsson's shot through his arms. Couldn't help the last deflected goal.
Didn't do anything particularly bad but was part of a back-four that looked unwilling to put the work in.
Lacked leadership as part of a poor back-four that did not close down the opposition quick enough and conceded numerous free-kicks in dangerous areas. His miss-hit clearance led to the Baggies' second goal. Did block a shot from Odemwingie off the line.
The defender was lucky to see Hennessey produce an outstanding save after he gave the ball away just outside his own box, allowing Odemwingie to set-up Scharner. Still needs time to gel with his new team-mates. Replaced by Berra.
Some questionable positioning for some of the goals, another who needed to dig in when they were under pressure but didn't.
Failed to find much possession in midfield with Wolves dominating the play. Was the unfortunate player to deflect Odemwingie's shot past his keeper. Poor marking for the last goal.
Not the best performance from the midfielder, wasted a few set-pieces and will be given part of the blame for West Brom's second goal as he was obstructing his own keeper.
Made some decent runs when he had the ball, but was part of a midfield overrun by the opposition.
Helped out at the back as Wolves were pinned back in their own half for the majority of the game, but didn't have enough flair going forward. Lovely flicked header to set up Fletcher's goal.
Caused a few problems when he could in the first-half, but had very little to work with. Some fancy footwork helped him hold up the ball and win a few free-kicks. Involved in the build-up to the equaliser.
Isolated and largely non-existent in the first period until he finished off a fantastic move with a left-footed effort to level the scores, after linking up with his strike-partners.
Came on the poor Bassong when the damage had already been done.
Did well when he came on the Edwards, but needed more than 20 minutes to impress.
Could have stayed in the dressing room for the first-half as he barely touched the ball. Produced a great save from Fletcher's header, just managing to tip it away from the corner.
The defender shielded the ball well on one occasion when Ebanks-Blake was chasing him down, composed display all in all from the Northern Irishman.
The Swede was on hand to block a number of strikes from the opposition, played the ball out from the back where he could. First to pounce on a loose ball to score his second goal of the season. Set-up Odemwingie's second with a cheeky back-heel. A fine all round display from the skipper.
Did what he had to well, which wasn't very much. The defender's header from a corner led to his side's third goal.
A good run down the right-flank by the full-back dragged away a defender to create space for Odemwingie's opener. Continued to venture forward in the second period.
Showed he is comfortable on the ball with some calm play in his own half while he used the ball to decent effect. Also drove his side forward with a few good runs. Picked up an assist for the final goal.
The Austrian got himself in some good positions and was only denied a goal by an athletic save from Henessey. Replaced at half-time.
The midfielder started off a number of attacks from the middle of the park and was involved in his side's opener. Blocked a header from Johnson off the line.
He had a very bright first-half and continually caused problems for the opposition back-line with a number of weaving runs. Was quieter in the second-half.
The Nigerian international tested Hennessey with a number of powerful shots, although he could be accused of choosing the wrong option sometimes, when he had team-mates available in the box. Certainly didn't lack confidence as he cut in and scored with his left-footed drive, even though it was deflected. Nearly doubled his tally when he beat two men but saw his shot blocked off the line and then did add a second with a neat hooked finish. Completed his hat-trick in the final minutes.
Some nice touches allowed the forward to produce good hold-up play and create chances for his team. Another player to be frustrated by the opposing keeper's hands. Showed determination and was still giving his all in the closing stages.
Replaced Scharner at half-time to make his debut and slotted into the midfield nicely. Finished off the scoring against his old club.
Was brought on in the closing stages to see out the game.
Came on for Thomas with quarter of an hour left to play and added some energy to see out the game.
