Tottenham - Newcastle Preview: Hosts have lost just one game in their past 29 home Premier League matches
Injuries to both squads make predicting the line-ups a tricky task this week, however the attacking ability of both remains strong and a goal-scoring affair should be expected

It's as hard as ever to second-guess Tottenham's team selection. We do know that William Gallas and Tom Huddlestone are definitely absent (and David Bentley for that matter).
Problems arise when judging the availablity of Ledley King. He has featured in both of Tottenham's last two league games but his knee troubles are well documented. If he fails to make it in time for Newcastle, expect Younes Kaboul to return to action.
The return of Aaron Lennon and Jermain Defoe are all possible and so the attack could look slightly different, and infinitely more threatening. Rafael Van der Vaart looks set to remain on the injured list though with a calf strain.
As for Newcastle, Alan Pardew has a whole host of problems. Yohan Cabaye will be suspended, whilst Cheik Tiote is on his way to the African Nations Cup final with the Ivory Coast.
Injuries have curtailed the season of Steven Taylor and Sylvain Marveaux whereas Ryan Taylor and Leon Best both picked up injuries against Aston Villa and are therefore ruled out of the clash at White Hart Lane.

Had a tough time at Anfield last time out as he was booked for diving before being clattered by Martin Skrtel. He didn't look happy and summed up his bad day at the office with a poor finish when through on goal.
However, the Welshman was in scintillating form in his last appearance at White Hart Lane, tearing Wigan's defence to shreds and bagging two good goals. Expect the winger to be back on his game on Saturday. He may well relish the chance to run at Danny Simpson.

It will be exciting to see the Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse partnership continue to grow in this fixture. It's not often you get a a club partnership mirror an international partnership - particularly in a foreign country. Nonetheless, Alan Pardew has teamed up Senegal's strikeforce and if Cisse is half as effective as Ba in his first six months, Newcastle will be in with a very good chance of claiming a European spot.
Despite this optimism, a trip to White Hart Lane is fast becoming one of the bleakest tasks for away teams searching for points. The crowd will be buoyant given Harry Redknapp's acquittal but also vociferous in their attempts to convince him to remain Tottenham boss after England interest. As such, I expect goals and an exciting match. Newcastle will have a go at Spurs but I think the home team prefer this scenario as spaces are found and exploited easier.
