Player Ratings: Tottenham 5-0 Newcastle

Had a nervy moment when Ba's free kick zipped past his left-hand post but was comfortable in the first half. Made an excellent point blank save from Ba to keep his clean sheet.

Continued the good work achieved alongside King at Anfield with another reliable performance at the heart of the Spurs defence.

Gets plenty of adulation from the fans for maintaining such high standards in the face of injury problems. He and Dawson gave Cisse and Ba precious little opportunity.

Was booked for a late nick on Perch but went about his duties well, nullifying Gutierrez to such an extent that he swapped flanks in the second half. Continued to maraud up and down the right flank to good effect.

Scored the opener after popping up in the unfamiliar centre-forward position. Plays his own way and often to much fanfare, as seen in the build up to his woeful free kick effort. Provided the cross that led to Adebayor's goal and was solid overall.

Got forward well to provide a helping hand in the fourth goal and was his usual menace. Taken off with 25 minutes to play.

Was booked for a foul on the edge of his own box - a trait that is becoming a little too frequent for comfort. However, despite that, did well to get forward when possible and continue to break up Newcastle attacks.

Provided the cross that led to the third goal and was more or less untouchable in midfield. Guthrie and Perch had a tough task up against Modric and Parker and they will be happy to see the back of the Croatian.

Was involved heavily in the first goal, opening up the Newcastle defence with a neat one-two with Adebayor. Had a decent chance from the edge of the box but got too far under the shot and blazed over. Scored Tottenham's fourth, arriving late to slot low past Krul.

Made his full debut for Spurs and marked it with a couple of goals, getting on the end of Adebayor's cross to score Spurs' second from six yards out and smashing home their third after his strike-partner's lay-off in the box. Returned the favour by heading across the box to Adebayor before coming off to a great ovation.

Had no chance with the opening three goals as he was left brutally exposed by the Tottenham attack. Did well to save Adebayor's effort but the rebound was put past him for Spurs' fourth.

Majorly struggled early on with the movement and direct play of Adebayor. Wasn't helped by Santon who was found wanting twice positionally in the first two goals.

Could have provided better support for Coloccini in the build up to the first two goals. Did his best to get forward and was afforded the space to do so with Kranjcar tucking inside, but Walker's persistence and Adebayor's movement meant the Italian could not initiate anything. Not a good day.

Two Spurs goals came down his flank as both Bale and Modric found ways in behind the full-back. Did offer an option going forward but was too rarely found.

Similar to Coloccini, the centre-back did not do enough to dull the threat of the Spurs strikers. Was beaten to the ball by Saha for the second goal. Marking was too loose throughout.

Did his best to shackle Modric but ultimately is part of a growing band of midfielders that have failed at this task. Took a couple of knocks but did try to keep the ball for the away side. Probably their best performer in a team of dud displays.

Had been in good form but was found chasing shadows for the most part. Was booked for taking down a galloping Lennon and subbed late on for Lovenkrands.

Didn't work for him on the left flank and the same can be said once he switched sides in the second half. Had a bit of a rant with Coloccini at half-time but it had no effect to their second-half performance.

Did not get much going up front and looked lost at times. Was replaced by Gosling on 68 minutes.

Had Newcastle's best chance with a free header from six yards out at 5-0 down but Friedel matched it. Also had a free kick that just went wide but service was not good enough to either he or Cisse.
