Carrow Road — Norwich, Norfolk
Referee: L. Probert
Attendance: 26358
Player Ratings: Norwich City 2-0 Bolton Wanderers
Second-half goals from Andrew Surman and Anthony Pilkington sealed a deserved win for the Canaries as Paul Lambert's side re-entered the top half of the Premier League table
By Oliver Platt at Carrow Road
Largely untested but commanded his area well, which was even more important than usual following the injuries to Ayala and Whitbread. Saved well on one occasion from Petrov.
Dealt with the lively Eagles well, forcing him to cross from difficult positions and being careful not to allow the former Manchester United winger in behind him.
Had little to deal with before being withdrawn due to injury.
Out of position at centre-back for much of the match, he did well to cope with Ngog and preserve Norwich's narrow lead towards the end.
Like Whitbread, remained largely untroubled until he was substituted due to injury.
Looked a real threat early on, driving Norwich forward from midfield and tracking back well to help Drury. Was guilty of missing his side's best chance of the first half, but made up for it when he slammed home the opening goal from close range.
Found the right balance between keeping the centre of the park congested when Bolton gained possession and providing an option on the right flank when attacking. Created the first goal and scored the second.
Combined well with Surman and Drury down the left wing but the Norwich strikers did not take advantage of the service he provided. Ran his socks off.
Always provides a passing option and successfully kept the roaming Mark Davies quiet.
His usual bustling self, he linked up play very efficiently and caused two big defenders in Knight and Wheater plenty of physical problems. Probably, however, should have found his way on to the scoresheet.
Linking up well with Holt, his pace was a constant thorn in the side of the Bolton defence.
Dependable as ever after stepping into the centre of defence as a substitute.
Kept Petrov to unthreatening positions while playing out of position at right-back. Very little came down the Bolton left.
Ran hard for the final 15 minutes as Norwich looked to hold on to their lead.
The Norwich strikers were largely wasteful and did not test him nearly enough, but he was equal to the shots he did have to make a play on.
Struggled to deal with the neat footwork of the likes of Hoolahan and Surman, and was often outduelled aerially when going up against Holt, too.
The trio of Hoolahan, Drury and Surman proved difficult to deal with in his first game of the season.
After a bright start, he generally kept a lid on Pilkington but provided little support for Petrov on the left.
Like Knight, he found himself backing off into very deep positions as Holt and Jackson proved a real handful.
Distributed the ball tidily but could have been more disruptive against the likes of Hoolahan and Surman in midfield.
Bolton's brightest attacker, but received little in the way of support and was occasionally wasteful with his final ball.
Restricted to hugging the touchline, which was not ideal given the low numbers with which Bolton were able to break. Not much of a problem for Norwich.
Struggled to find space and get on the ball, and as a result did little to influence the game.
Drove Bolton forward as best as he could but more often than not found himself chasing shadows as Norwich controlled possession.
The ex-Liverpool man worked tirelessly in attack and provided something of a physical presence but received almost no service and very little support.
Brought on to provide a late spark but had little time to make an impact.
Did his usual job linking up midfield and attack with his hold-up play. Undoubtedly helped Bolton control more of the ball.
Like Tuncay, Coyle turned to the new signing for a late goal but he had little in the way of service.
