Player Ratings: Swansea City 0-0 Sunderland

Both sides draw a blank and pick up second point of the season after teams miss a host of chances in front of goal with Danny Graham and Asamoah Gyan especially guilty.

Michel Vorm Top of the Match

Had an excellent game denying Gyan on two occasions in the first half. Handling was exceptional from free-kicks and corners and looked to start moves from the back.

Gave as good as he got in a good tussle with Gyan. Was caused problems by the Ghanaian but won his fair share of tackles and headers.

Looked to raid down the right and support Dyer as much as possible. Defended well against Colback and gave him little to work with.

Good run through the Sunderland midfield almost yielded a goal for his side. Passed the ball well particularly in the first half. Faded slightly as the game wore on but had a good afternoon on the whole.

    Kemy Agustien

Was involved in a good midfield tussle with Cattermole as both put in heavy challenges on one another. Distribution was good and tried to bring the Swans more creative players into the game as much as possible.

    Nathan Dyer

Was ineffective in the first half and he was well marshalled by Bardsley who gave him nothing. Got into the game more as the match wore on.

Unlucky not to give his side the lead after 25-yard shot hit the crossbar in the first half. Was lively and was always a threat to the Sunderland defence.

    Danny Graham

Gave the Sunderland defence problems but should have give the Swans the lead in the first half with a couple of great chances. Had more opportunities in the second half but couldn’t find a way through Mignolet.

Good save to deny Graham in the second half. Didn’t have a great deal to do but was good when called upon. Handling and kicking were good.

    Wes Brown

Great block to deny Graham a chance on goal. Was lucky that Graham missed free header after his failed clearance from a corner was put back into the box. But was solid for large periods of the game.

Did his job well in the centre of defence. Was troubled at times by Graham and Routledge dropping off but had a decent game overall.

    John O'Shea

Defended quite well against Sinclair despite mis-match in pace. Was unlucky to see early headed effort hit the bar. Used the ball well going forward and helped Larsson whenever he could.

    Jack Colback

Showed glimpses of his ability with good passing and movement. Didn’t provide the outside threat Steve Bruce would have liked from the left but had a decent game all the same. Helped out defensively.

Sebastian Larsson Flop of the Match

Set pieces challenged the Swans' defence. Didn’t see much of the ball but when he did his final product was poor, his crossing from the right barely beat the first man. Will be disappointed with his display.

  • Craig Gardner

    Craig Gardner

Had an inconsistent game. He showed his ability with some good passing but didn’t have a lasting impact on the game. Had one or two half chances but that was as good as it got.

    Asamoah Gyan

Had good movement and gave the Swansea defence all sorts of problems. Was well denied by Vorm on two occasions in the first half. Poor control led to chances being spurned early in the second half. Will be disappointed by his finishing today.
