His goalkeeping style may not be to everyone's tastes, what with his penchant for parrying. But he did so with conviction which allowed his defenders to either cover back or clear the rebound. Lithuania's best player - despite a crazy moment as time wound down that almost cost them.
Lucky to escape a booking that instead went to Kijanskas in a case of mistaken identity. Worked diligently in defence.
Absolutely clattered Robson early on, then did the same to Brown in the first half, and yet continued to escape a booking. Finally went in the book in the second half. A muscular leader for his team - exactly what they needed.
Looked as puzzled as anyone as to why he received the first yellow card of the game. Solid enough defensively.
Embarrassing moment when he clumsily knocked the ball out for a throw-in under no pressure at all. Was put under occasional pressure by Naismith and Fletcher, but not nearly enough for Scotland's liking.
Had to do more defensive work than creative in the first half. Better in the second. Replaced with 10 minutes remaining by Luksa
Forever a bete noire for the Tartan Army following his infamous dive at Hampden back in 2007. A nuisance in every sense of the word. Forced a fine save from McGregor when presented with a clear sight of goal in the first half.
Quiet in the first half, better in the second. Made his presence felt in defence and also helped spring attacks.
Combative, but rarely able to make a telling pass.
Well-marshalled by Whittaker despite his best efforts to create on the right flank. Took to having pot shots from long range in the second half, but need not have bothered.
A virtual bystander in the first half, he was heavily involved in Lithuania's best moments of the second period.
On for Danilevicius in injury time.
On for Sernas on 80 minutes. Ineffective.
On for Mikoliunas on 70 minutes. Lively enough outing.
Excellent stop from Mikoliunas was his only action in the first half, but was absolutely vital. Continues to be a reliable, near excellent deputy for the injured Craig Gordon.
Playing out of position at left-back, but looked comfortable both in attack and defence. Forced off through injury in second-half stoppage time.
Clearly short of match practice having fallen by the wayside at Tottenham, he still was more than a match for Mikoliunas when surging forward.
Came close with a perfectly executed volley in the first half, having been untroubled defensively through the opening 45 minutes. More than a match for Lithuania's rough-house tactics at set-pieces.
Fully justified Craig Levein's decision to recall him to the national set-up with an unflustered display. Used all of his 40 years of wisdom to think ahead of the play and snuff out any danger on the rare occasions it presented itself.
Fierce left-foot shots - one from a free-kick, the other from open play - brought parries from Karcemarskas in the first half. Fine cross presented Miller with a glorious chance at the start of the second. Justified his inclusion from the start. Replaced by McFadden on 69 minutes.
One gorgeous cross-field pass in the first half was evidence of why Levein was so keen to recall him to the national fold. Rugged in the challenge, assured in possession - a near-perfect display from a holding midfielder.
Continues to play as if the world is against him, charging around in search of a booking. It duly came in the 43rd minute. Nowhere near the presence he should be at this level.
Still not producing his Manchester United form in national team colours, something he himself admitted earlier this week. Did play a superb pass from deep that should have led to a goal had Naismith not scuffed his shot straight at the goalkeeper.
A couple of over-hit passes and went to ground far too easily in the box when Scotland were working a promising position in the first half. Then contrived to waste two great chances in the second period. Had been playing well for Rangers, but left his form in Glasgow.
You could write the same thing about Kenny Miller every single game - dogged, hard-working, offered himself for team-mates throughout. Oh, and he missed a great chance, of course. A pity, as it spoiled an otherwise sound display.
On in injury time for Whittaker. Barely got sweaty.
On for Brown on 76 minutes. Had little effect on proceedings.
On for Robson on 69 minutes, to the Tartan Army's delight. Plenty of endeavour in his short run-out, but still not enough to throw his omission from the starting line-up into any sort of controversy.
