The City Of Manchester
Referee: Manuel de Sousa
Europa League Qualifier Player Ratings: Manchester City 2-0 FC Timisoara (Agg: 3-0)
By Steven Saunders
Entirely comfortable with anything Timisoara could throw at him, which wasn't much.
Rarely tested defensively, he got forward on occasion and was denied by an excellent block in the first half.
Completely at ease throughout, but any judgements on what seems to be a burgeoning presence as a central defender should be reserved for more testing occasions.
A solid performance on the whole that was capped by a well-taken header, latching on to Silva's excellent deep cross to score.
Continues to bed down again as a full-back, and is looking more of a threat coming forwards and less of a liability defensively.
Still seems to be finding his sea legs with City after his summer move. Showed good vision, but too often his passes were overhit. Set-piece delivery was better though, exemplified by the free kick which froze the defence and allowed Boyata to head home at the far post.
Wonderful pass through the centre of defence allowed Wright-Phillips to slide in the first goal. Strolled through the match.
Fired in the first serious shot on goal after nine minutes, but that didn't really trouble the Timisoara keeper. A strong performance before being taken off midway through the second half.
Alert, darting run into the box was rewarded with a supreme pass from Vieira that he ushered into the bottom corner with a sliding shot. Decent performance.
Came close with a header on 36 minutes, but could not mark his first start for City in 19 months with the opener. Some nice touches, some bad ones - a familiar story.
Never really had to raise his effort level and yet still caused Timisoara problems. Should have got on the scoresheet when gifted an opening by Burca's slack play.
On for De Jong on 63 minutes. Some heavy touches on a slick pitch.
Good tip over the bar from Jo's header, though the striker made it easier than it should have been for him. No chance with the opener, and was beaten by the quality of Silva's delivery for No.2.
Was possibly lucky to escape censure for a crunching tackle on Zabaleta that left the City man in a heap. Made a horrible mistake in his own box in the second half, but Adebayor failed to capitalise.
Had to resort to foul means to prevent Wright-Phillips in his tracks on a couple of occasions.
Tried as much as anyone in the visitors' ranks to spur them into life as an attacking force, but had little to support him.
Often the man tidying up the scraps in his own defensive third.
Outclassed by De Jong and Vieira in the midfield area, but can console himself as being one of a long list to have met that fate against those players.
One of the few Timisoara players to put a foot on the ball and look to play, but that didn't spare him being substituted early in the second half, presumably with a knock.
Stifled in midfield as City maintained possession with ease. Taken off on 82 minutes.
Made an excellent block to deny Zabaleta at close range in the first half.
Made no impact in the first half, and was substituted at the break.
The liveliest of the Timisoara attackers, but that doesn't say much. Had one shot into the side-netting. Frequently outmuscled by his more illustrious combatants.
On at half-time for Magera, but was equally as ineffective.
On for Alexa on 82 minutes.
On for Curtean on 57 minutes. Little impact.
