Confirmed that he will be retiring at the top of his game with a superb reaction save to deny Kalou and dived at full stretch to keep out a Drogba free-kick.

Looked comfortable at left-back, although he could have got tighter to Kalou on a couple of occasions. Substituted at half-time, presumed due to injury.

A composed and assured display as he continued his excellent partnership with Vidic. Never looked troubled as he was always able to read the danger.

Captain's performance and led by example with the second goal, showing the desire to get to the ball and heading home like a striker.

Committed and disciplined against Malouda and reined in his attacking instincts in the second-half while covering well.

Played with incredible energy and plenty of skill from the first minute, when he provided Hernandez with the pass for the opener. Never gave Chelsea's midfielders a second to relax on the ball and maintained his attacking threat as he played a delicious cross to Hernandez and forced Cech into action with a rasping strike.

Sat deep in the United midfield and never allowed Lampard space on the edge of the box to fire at goal. Tidy in possession as he quickly found men in space and produced a wonderful pass late on from which Rooney should have scored.

The 37-year-old continues to defy logic with his performances for the champions-elect. So aware of his surroundings, so adept at finding space and so accurate with his final ball - it was no surprise when he jinked and crossed for Vidic to head home. It was the Welshman's fourth assist in his last three games against Chelsea.

The England star genuinely looked like he enjoyed every minute of the game as he evaded blue shirts. Picked the ball up and always looked to open Chelsea up by spraying the ball wide or playing a quick one-two. Only thing missing was a goal - and he missed at least three excellent chances.

The opening goal encapsulated the Mexican as he showed superb movement and produced a devastating finish with his first touch of the game. Missed some glorious chances to scoring a second - including a free header from six yards - but was a massive threat on the counter-attack and linked up well with Rooney.

Had no chance of stopping the United goals and did everything in his power to prevent the scoreline from being even more. He was forced in to stretch saves in the first-half to deny Rooney and Park.

Poor afternoon for the England left-back as Valencia continually beat him with a drop of the shoulder. Pegged back and offered little support in attack - despite encouragement from his manager to get forward more.

The Brazilian has been superb for Chelsea since his January arrival but this was a game to forgot. Feeble interception in the first minute allowed Hernandez to race through and score; rash in his tackling; sloppy in his passing; and kept switching off to allow United players space in the penalty area. Hauled off at the break.

The Chelsea captain looked vulnerable against the pace and movement of Hernandez as United attacked in waves in the first-half but improved after the break.

Perhaps lucky not to be sent off after some rash challenges when already booked for a late foul on Rooney. Huge leap and flicked header to allow Lampard to pull one back.

Not at his dominant best and lazy tactically as United were continually able to get players turning in space and running at the Chelsea defence. Kept his passing simple but rarely ventured forward and lacked his customary drive.

Quiet game in a three-man midfield but never stopped making forward runs and was rewarded as he reacted quickest to stab home.

The French winger offered genuine width on the left and whipped in a couple of good crosses without ever looking like he had the ideas or creativity to break United down.

The focal point for all Chelsea attacks and was always a threat with he power, strength and shooting ability. Mistimed one first-half header when in a good position and forced Van der Sar in to a sprawling save with a powerful free-kick.

Seemed to be the wrong man to get on the end of Chelsea's best chances in the first-half as he headed straight at van der Sar from seven yards and struck another effort unconvincingly at the United goalkeeper. Disappeared after the break and replaced by Torres on the hour.
