30′ (OG) Peter Crouch

90′ +5
FULL TIME! MANCHESTER CITY QUALIFY FOR THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE! A tight, nervy, tense affair at Eastlands it may have been but Peter Crouch's own goal is enough to give the hosts victory and guarantee a top four finish! Delight for City, disaster for Spurs! Huge celebrations from the home fans. That's all from me but keep it with Goal.com for our match report, ratings and all the reaction from the game.

90′ +3
City are trying to see the game out, with Milner and Vieira wasting time near the corner flag...

90′ +1
Now it's Modric's turn to send in a low cross but this time it's Vieira who manages to clear. The City fans are biting their nails...

90′
CHANCE FOR SPURS! Corluka slides in a low cross for Defoe at the near post but Richards is there first to concede the corner which comes to nothing! Into FIVE MINUTES of added time at the end of the game...

88′
Substitution William Gallas Younes Kaboul

88′
BRILLIANT BY GALLAS! Vieira looked certain to make it 2-0 but he is denied by a flying Frenchman! Tevez sets up Vieira who dinks it over Cudicini but there is Gallas to head off the line. It's his last action of the night too, he's clearly injured and is taken off for Kaboul.

86′
Time ticking away at Eastlands and City are looking content with their 1-0 lead. Sandro sweeps in a cross for Spurs but again it's harmless and straight at Hart.

84′
Here he is! Carlos Tevez arrives to a rapturous reception from the home fans, he takes David Silva's place for the last eight or so minutes.

83′
Substitution David Silva Carlos Tévez

83′
Yellow Card Steven Pienaar

82′
City then attack and Dzeko tries to emulate Van der Vaart's earlier effort. The striker gets a shot all wrong and hits it high, and nearer the corner flag than the goal.

81′
Tottenham have a corner. The ball is played back to Van der Vaart who is lurking on the edge of the area and the Dutchman wafts it high into row Z.

80′
Yellow Card James Milner

80′
It's taken 80 minutes but finally a yellow card is produced. James Milner is the guilty man, booked for a late lunge on Danny Rose.

79′
A bit of a frank exchange between Tevez and Mancini on the touchline. The striker had sat back down after a warm up and taken off his orange bib. But after a mouthful from the Italian, he is back running up the touchline with his bib on! Make of that what you will!

78′
Substitution Peter Crouch Jermain Defoe

78′
NOW TOURE WANTS A PENALTY! The former Barca man weaves his way into the box, bounces off Corluka and then falls over. Again the referee waves play on! Meanwhile, Crouch is off, Defoe is on for Spurs.

76′
Real chance for Dzeko! A super flick-on by Silva sends him clear but his shot is deflected wide by Dawson who gets back well to make the block.

75′
Carlos Tevez is warming up on the touchline for the hosts. Mancini has said previously that he needs to prove his match fitness is he is to play in the FA Cup final, but City have just one change left. Will we see the Argentine at some point?

74′
The Spurs physio is certainly earning his money tonight. After another check on Gallas he is in action again after Danny Rose goes down after a challenge from Milner. It looks like a shoulder problem but he should be OK to continue.

72′
Yaya Toure thumps a deep cross which flies harmlessly over the Spurs box but is picked up by Silva on the other side of the pitch. He cuts inside but his cross is blocked by Gallas who brings the ball clear.

70′
Back to our man Greg Stobart at Eastlands: "Champions League football for next season may be all but secured – but the City fans are getting very frustrated with their side's lack of pressing as they allow Spurs to control possession. Even a resounding version of Blue Moon has failed to add some heat to the game but Roberto Mancini looks quite happy to try and see the game out using as little energy as possible"

69′
Almost an immediate impact from the substitute Vieira! He threads a lovely ball through to Silva who looks destined to slot home but somehow the Spaniard just misses the ball and Spurs can breathe a sigh of relief!

67′
Roberto Mancini has seen enough and opts to make a change. Off goes Adam Johnson and on comes Patrick Vieira.

66′
Substitution Adam Johnson Patrick Vieira

65′
Spurs are camped in the City half at the moment. A Modric corner is cleared but the ball just keeps coming back. Can the visitors make this pressure pay?

63′
Up steps Van der Vaart....and sends the kick straight into the wall! Disappointing from the Dutchman.

62′
Modric cleverly wins a free-kick off Dzeko just outside the City area and this is a set piece in a very tasty position...

61′
Roberto Mancini is prowling the touchline shouting instructions to his players. He looks furious, clearly unhappy with his side's display, despite the fact they are 1-0 up.

60′
GOOD CHANCE FOR VAN DER VAART! Pienaar picks out the Dutchman on the edge of the box, he takes a touch before spooning it high over the bar! That was a good chance for Spurs!

58′
Finally City decide to make the change and Zabaleta will play no further part. On comes Kolarov to take his place.

57′
Substitution Pablo Zabaleta Aleksandar Kolarov

57′
The hosts are still down to 10 men and Spurs are frantically trying to make the most of the advantage. Pienaar goes tumbling just inside the box, but again contact looks minimal and the referee is having none of it.

55′
Sandro sprays it out to Lennon, who looks to be Spurs' most likely source of inspiration by far. Zabaleta, meanwhile, is still on the touchline covered in blood...so Kolarov is sent out to warm up.

54′
Richards tries another storming break down the right but a good tackle by Rose stops him in his tracks. However, the youngster then undoes all his good work by sending his pass straight to Yaya Toure.

52′
Zabaleta goes down clutching his face after going up for a header with Crouch. He doesn't look too impressed with the England international, and with blood now dripping from his face, you can understand why. The defender, will have to go off to have some treatment on that cut...

51′
Again Spurs try to get Lennon away down the right but this time Zabaleta has De Jong to help him out and between the pair of them they manage to see out the danger.

49′
More pressing from Spurs, with Lennon seeing plenty of the ball and all the threat coming down the right. That is, until Corluka calmly passes the ball straight to Zabaleta and City can break out.

47′
GREAT SAVE HART! Almost the perfect start to the second half for Spurs! Again Lennon is the instigator, running at Zabaleta before crossing for Pienaar who leaps high and powers a header back across goal which Hart at full stretch tips away!

46′
Welcome back! No changes for either side at the break as Silva and Milner kick-off and we are back underway at Eastlands...

Let's go over to our man Greg Stobart for his half-time thoughts: "The half-time whistle goes at Eastlands and Manchester City go in with the lead after an even 45 minutes between two sides that are very comfortable in possession. How ironic that Peter Crouch's own-goal is the difference, just over a year after the England striker put Spurs in the Champions League with a winner at this ground. City have played with a little more potency in the final third and the craft of David Silva has caused problems for the Tottenham defence; while Spurs midfielder Luka Modric is playing with style but missed a glorious chance to put Harry Redknapp's side in the lead."

45′ +4
HALF-TIME! So far so good for the hosts who lead courtesy of Peter Crouch's own goal. Spurs had a great chance to score seconds before the opener, but Modric missed a glorious opportunity and so 1-0 it is at the break.

45′ +2
Whatever the physio did to Gallas' leg has worked wonders. The defender comes thundering forwards, plays a give and go on the edge of the box, before thundering a shot goalwards which is blocked by a, brave, City defender.

45′
Heading towards half-time and Spurs yet to work Joe Hart in the City goal. Still they have FOUR MINUTES of added time to try and reach parity before the break.

43′
The Tottenham physio wraps some strapping, which looks suspiciously like gaffer tape to me but then again I'm no doctor, around Gallas' thigh and he's good to go. Spurs back to 11.

41′
More problems for the visitors. William Gallas is down and the referee has just signalled for the stretcher. They've already had to make one change, so the last thing they need is to make another substitution before the break.

39′
Harry Redknapp looks on from the bench, legs crossed, arms folded and looking thoroughly fed up.

37′
Crouch, he's in the centre of everything at the moment, goes down in the box under the vaguest pressure from Milner after Corluka sends over a cross. It's a vain attempt at a penalty and the referee quite rightly completely ignores the striker.

35′
That opening goal for City seems to have filled the hosts with confidence and It's one-way traffic at the moment with Silva urged to shoot from range and thrashing the ball just over the bar from 25 yards.

32′
Substitution W. Palacios Steven Pienaar

32′
Goal.com's Greg Stobart at Eastlands: "William Gallas has just had a furious row on the touchline with Spurs coach Kevin Bond after that City goal, the Tottenham defender walking off, shaking his head and making an angry gesture after a heated exchange. The irony won't be lost on either side that Peter Crouch has scored in the same goal as he headed the winner last year to secure Champions League football for Harry Redknapp's team – but this time it's gone past his own goalkeeper."

31′
Wilson Palacios' return for injury is cut short early. He has had to be substituted and Steven Pienaar takes his place.

30′
Assist James Milner

30′
Own Goal Peter Crouch

29′
GOAL! A CROUCH OWN GOAL MAKES IT 1-0 CITY! Just seconds after Spurs miss a glaring opportunity, the hosts go up the other end and score! A short corner is returned to Milner, who drives in a low cross, Crouch sticks out a leg and diverts the ball past Cudicini!

28′
WHAT A MISS! Fantastic chance for Spurs! Lennon does brilliantly down the right, squares it for Modric who is in acres of space, and looks certain to sweep it home, low into the far corner but instead hits it just wide! The Croatian can't believe it - that's a huge let-off for the hosts.

27′
A quick throw by Rose finds Crouch in acres of space, he pulls it back to the young full-back, who eventually finds the striker again but his attempt at goal is fairly woeful and flies high over Hart's goal.

25′
Bit better from the visitors who manage to fling in a few crosses in the vague direction of Crouch but City defend well with Kompany his usual commanding self in the heart of the defence.

23′
Now Corluka sends in a cross for Crouch but a combination of Richards and Kompany manage to do enough. The ball flies out of play, Crouch is convinced it's a corner but, no, it's a goal kick for City.

21′
What was I saying? Now Spurs attack ,a knock down by Crouch looks destined for Van der Vaart but he can only win a corner. The ball is lofted into the box but a towering header from Toure gets it clear.

20′
Zabaleta pings in a deep cross from the left. It finds Dzeko but he has Dawson right behind him and the Spurs defender does just enough. It's starting to look a little ominous for the visitors, however...

18′
CITY WANT A PENALTY! Controversy at Eastlands! Milner goes shoulder to shoulder with Dawson in the box and ends up on the turf with the crowd howling foul! The referee takes a long, long look before turning away and waving play on!

16′
Johnson tries to burst down the right, but he has Sandro for company and the Brazilian manages to nick the ball out for a throw. City starting to dominate at Eastlands.

14′
Silva picks out Richards again on the edge of the box, with a glorious ball but the flag is up for offside. Richards waggles his finger at the referee, he disagrees with the decision, but it's not going to make any difference. Free-kick to Spurs.

12′
Boos ring out around Eastlands. The are directed at Van der Vaart who goes down under an aerial challenge from Milner. The referee stops play, as the Dutchman looks to have hurt his head, but he is up and about in no time which does not impress the City fans.

11′
GREAT SAVE CUDICINI! After a spell of ponderous possession, City suddenly burst into life. Lescott's ball is headed onto Dzeko by Silva he then returns the ball to the striker and his low shot is blocked by the Spurs keeper!

10′
Half-chance for the hosts as Toure has a sight of goal and swings his boot at it, but can only fizz a low shot wide.

8′
Back come Spurs who win a corner. Van der Vaart wanders over to take the kick but can only find Dzeko at the near post who clears it at the first attempt.

6′
A superb pass by Adam Johnson has the home fans on their feet. He sends Richards scampering into the box but his cross is deflected out for a corner by Dawson.

4′
An early burst from Lennon sees him zip to the edge of the City box where he promptly crosses the ball straight to Kompany who hoofs clear.

2′
As the teams settle into the game, let's check back in with Greg Stobart at Eastlands: "A real sense of anticipation here at Eastlands as Manchester City look to make history by reaching the Champions League for the first time. It doesn't have the snap, crackle and pop atmosphere of last year's fixture, which was essentially a cup final. For their part, the Spurs fans appear to have lost hope after a disappointing end to the season and there is a smattering of empty seats in the away end despite the visitors selling out their allocation. For some, it seems, it would have been a wasted journey."

1′
OK folks, time to sit back and relax because here we go! Peter Crouch and Rafael van der Vaart kick-off for Spurs and we are underway at Eastlands...

Of course Spurs are not completely out of the race for fourth, although it might take something akin to a miracle as they kick-off six points behind City with just three games to play. Perhaps more importantly, they dropped to sixth last night, after Liverpool's win over Fulham, but victory tonight will see them leap back up to fifth and a Europa League spot.

“Now is our time and Champions League qualification is a step towards next season and competing for the Premier League title.”

“We know if we win this evening then we have achieved what we set out to do in August and qualified for the Champions League. We are big favourites to finish in the top four but that does not mean we can relax."

“We have arrived at five incredible days in the life of Manchester City. Two games face us in a short time that could define our season. Tonight, together, the players and the supporters can make some history for the club."

Goal.com's Greg Stobart is at Eastlands tonight and he's been leafing through Roberto Mancini's programme notes, ahead of kick-off, so let's find out what the Italian has to say on tonight's game...

Spurs, meanwhile, make a change in goal. Heurelho Gomes has a back injury so in comes Carlo Cudicini. Also returning to the starting XI are Vedran Corluka, Wilson Palacios, Aaron Lennon and Peter Crouch.

So the big news for the hosts is that Carlos Tevez is back tonight, he starts on the bench as Roberto Mancini picks a strong team, despite the fact his team have a date at Wembley on Saturday in the FA Cup final.

Tottenham: Cudicini; Corluka, Dawson, Gallas, Rose; Lennon, Palacios, Sandro, Modric; Van der Vaart; Crouch. Subs: Pletikosa, Kaboul, Pavlyuchenko, Defoe, Bassong, Kranjcar, Pienaar.

Manchester City: Hart; Richards, Kompany, Lescott, Zabaleta;Milner, De Jong, Toure Yaya, Adam Johnson, Silva; Dzeko. Subs: Given, Wright-Phillips, Kolarov, Vieira, Tevez, Boyata, Balotelli.
