Europa League Player Ratings: Rabotnicki 0-2 Liverpool
David Ngog double eases Reds towards next round...
By Steven Saunders
Horribly exposed at the opening goal, but still should have offered a greater challenge to Ngog than he did. No chance with the second, but Liverpool should be disappointed they didn't test him more.
Injury forced him to be stretchered off and replaced by Emir two minutes before the break.
Another not to be tested very often and yet still be found wanting.
Part of a rearguard that failed to deal with rudimentary threats for both goals.
Fine run down the left flank had Kelly scrambling back early on. Did better on the front foot than he did on the back, which could also be said of his opponent Kelly.
A good first-half move broke down when the captain failed to control a simple pass. Miscued a shot from distance soon after. Not a memorable night.
Very little impact on the flow of the game as Liverpool kept possession for large spells.
Guilty of giving away possession far too easily, as well as trying a ludicrous shot from distance in the first half when he had room to run. Substituted soon after the second goal.
Another to fall into the trap of shooting from long range when finding a team-mate or advancing would have been a better option.
Wasted a decent opening by attempting a shot from miles out that was easily blocked. Did even worse from closer range with Rabotnicki's best chance of the game in the second half.
Replaced the injured Sekulovski. Made some impression going forward in the second half.
Replaced Ze Carlos on 55 minutes, but to little effect.
Replaced Tunevski with 12 minutes remaining.
Comfortably dealt with every long-range shot the Macedonian club fired his way. It was as if the scouts had identified surprise shots from distance as a weakness, but the Liverpool keeper was totally unfazed.
Jeered throughout by the Macedonian crowd due to the political tensions with Greece. Seemed to revel in the animosity and was typically no-nonsense in his approach.
Struggled at times in the first half, and got a verbal volley from Hodgson as he left the field at the break. Responded by providing the cross for Ngog to make it 2-0, but was frequently at fault defensively.
Mopped up well whenever Rabotnicki broke forward and was not troubled greatly by the home side's attackers.
Hardly flawless but rarely flustered in defence. Got forward when the chance arose but could not create much. Replaced by Darby with 18 minutes to go.
The former sprinter took the occasional opportunity to show his speed, but his end product was lacking each time. Substituted late on having had little impact on the game.
Poor early cross was emblematic of another nervy performance in the first team.
Was unfortunate that the bounce of the ball on a bumpy pitch deprived him of a good shooting opportunity shortly before Liverpool went 2-0 ahead. Struggled to provide much from set-pieces. Withdrawn with eight minutes to go.
Can be credited with the assist for the opener, but in truth it was a hopeful ball forward that should have been dealt with. Occasional misplaced pass, but generally composed.
Solid if unspectacular debut from the Serbian, who almost scored shortly before half-time only for Todorovski to deflect his effort wide. Faded from view in the second half.
Created a chance to cross on 13 minutes with typical endeavour. Took advantage of some horrendous play in the Rabotnicki defense to open the scoring soon after. Sharp finish from Kelly's cross on 58 minutes maintains his impressive strike rate.
On for Agger on 72 minutes. Tried one shot from long range.
On for Aquilani on 82 minutes.
On for Amoo on 82 minutes.
