Emirates Stadium
Referee: Jones, Mike
Could have traveled north to see the Tower, the Pleasure Beach and the Golden Mile, so little did he have to do.
Never troubled by anything Blackpool could conjure. Needn't have showered after this game.
Did not even compete for a cross in the 12th minute that Taylor-Fletcher should have headed on target at the very least. That was the only moment of danger for the Arsenal backline.
Clattered into a couple of challenges early on and was occasionally wasteful in possession - against better opponents this might have proved costly, but not today.
Created the fourth goal with pace, vision and technique that will have purists drooling.
Had the occasional moment that had the Emirates on the edge of their seats, willing him to do well. Still the obvious candidate to drop out when Fabregas returns to the starting XI.
So little did he have to think of underpinning Arsenal’s midfield, he swept forward and contributed a classy finish to a flowing move for No.4.
Darting run inside from the wing left Blackpool at sea and allowed for a perfectly weighted assist to Walcott. Cleverly controlled half-volley brought an excellent save from Gilks midway through the first half. Buried his spot-kick emphatically. Looked on aghast as his selfless centre was lifted over the bar by Chamakh, then was substituted immediately after.
Linked up beautifully with Arshavin for Walcott’s opener. Magnificent touch and vision set Walcott free on goal only for him to fire the chance wildly over.
Should have done better than slide a low shot wide of the post when set up by a fine run and pass from Walcott. Exploited Evatt’s high positioning to earn a penalty that ended the game as a contest. Missed an open goal from six yards, but made up for it with a display of his heading prowess for No.6. Still deducted 0.5 for his shocking miss though.
Simple finish for his first goal of the season, but showed he can still lose his composure in front of goal when he blazed over later in the first half. Made up for it with a sharp turn and shot for No.3, then cut inside onto his left foot to complete his hat-trick. Had the beaten of Crainey from the start to an embarrassing degree, and yet still had moments of dreadful wastefulness. Substituted on 66 minutes to a standing ovation.
Little chance with Walcott’s side-footed finish low to his right, but showed sharp reflexes to keep out an Arshavin half-volley. Thwarted Chamakh with a close-range block. Might have done better with Chamakh's headed sixth, but that was the only goal where he could take any blame.
Something of a bystander as Arsenal stormed forward. Out of his depth, but he was not alone in that regard.
His despairing lunge on Chamakh was a foul and he was the last man, but still it was harsh to see him sent off and a penalty awarded for a tackle that was outside the box.
Powerless to stop the Gunners' attacks. Likely to have a few more afternoons like this one, rather than last week's cruise.
Caught out of position for Arsenal’s opening goal, so resolved to get closer to Walcott, only setting himself up to be turned at every opportunity by the flying winger.
Had Blackpool’s first effort on goal in what was a promising start. Disappeared at the same rate his side's hopes did.
Outclassed by his superior midfield opponents, Adam did not even manage to threaten from dead ball scenarios.
Swung in a delightful cross that froze Almunia and Clichy but Taylor-Fletcher headed wide. That was the high point, and in the opening stages too - it was all downhill for his side from there.
One week on from his two-goal debut, Harewood probably wasn’t too surprised that Arsenal did not aid and abet him to the same extent that Wigan did. Taken off 12 minutes into the second half.
Headed wide from an excellent cross early on as Blackpool remained committed to attack. It was his side’s best chance. Substituted early in the second half.
On for Harewood on 57 minutes. Made no difference.
