  Started strongly, with his fifth-minute free-kick too hot to handle for Carson and leading to the opener. His first goal was well hit but owed much to a porous wall, the second an unfussy poacher's finish and the third firmly hit if deflected. Still a terrifying prospect for opposition defences.

  A constant danger and - as always for Chelsea - defied his selfish image. Unbelievably hard-working, altruistic and always looking to create. His super reverse pass was key to creating Lampard's goal, and another great ball provided Malouda with number six.
