FULL TIME. MANCHESTER CITY 2-0 BOLTON WANDERERS. Manchester City keep up the pressure on the top 4 with an unconvincing three points. Bolton will look back on a penalty which they should have been given with the score at 1-0. But Robert Mancini's side are now level with Liverpool in fourth place.
90′ +5
Zat Knight sums up Bolton's night by heading well over from a Matt Taylor cross when well placed inside the area. Seconds to go now..
90′ +1
Five minutes added on at Eastlands.
90′
A long punt upfield is glanced on from Kevin Davies and Johan Elmander stretches to turn the ball towards goal, but he runs out of angle and can only divert the ball onto the outside of the post.
88′
The home side have taken their foot off the gas now and are cruising to victory. Bolton look very tired and simply nothing is going for Owen Coyle's side.
85′
The man of a poor match Adam Johnson is replaced by Sylvinho, and recieves a standing ovation from the City fans after a superb debut down the right-hand side.
84′
Substitution
Adam Johnson
Sylvinho
82′
Davies meets a Bolton corner but his header is tame and floats harmlessly over the crossbar.
80′
Great chance for Bolton. Lee is played clean through on goal but takes his shot quickly and toe pokes it straight at Given who smothers the ball with ease.
78′
Substitution
Jack Wilshere
Matthew Taylor
78′
Good work from Johnson but after he gets the return ball from Adebayor he hesitates and the chance is gone. Still so lively though Johnson.
76′
Yellow Card Paul Robinson
74′
Substitution
Tamir Cohen
Mark Davies
73′
GOAL!! ADEBAYOR!! MANCHESTER CITY 2-0 BOLTON WANDERERS. What a goal from Emanuel Adebayor. Patrick Vieira picks out the striker with a long ball through the heart of the Bolton defence. Adebayor cushions the ball on his chest before smashing the ball past Jaaskelainen on the volley. A majestic finish from the former Arsenal striker and although they have been far from their best tonight, City lead 2-0.
73′
Goal Emmanuel Adebayor
71′
The next goal in this game is so crucial and Bolton are far from dead in this match. City just aren't performing and if Bolton can find Davies with a better final ball they have a very good chance of getting something out of this game.
68′
Substitution
Wayne Bridge
Shaun Wright-Phillips
68′
It's just not happening for Manchester City tonight despite their lead, and Mancini recognises that fact by bringing on Shaun Wright-Phillips for Wayne Bridge, although the change takes a little longer than anticipated as the wideman didn't have his shorts on..
63′
Johnson once again rampages down the right and is taken out by Muamba. Barry heads well over from the resulting free kick.
62′
Yellow Card Fabrice Muamba
58′
Given breathes a huge sigh of relief after the usually reliable goalkeeper tries a cheeky chip over striker Elmander, but the forward blocks Givens clearance but the ball hits the side netting, a lucky escape for City.
57′
Adam Johnson once again shows his ability down the right hand side and floats a left footed ball to the back post which deflects behind for a corner for Manchester City. Man of the match performance so far from the new signing.
55′
Substitution
Kolo Toure
Joleon Lescott
55′
Kolo Toure can't fully recover from the injury he sustained from Bolton's set piece a few minutes ago, and is replaced by Joleon Lescott.
52′
Tamir Cohen stupidly handles the ball unchallenged 25 yards from goal and Manchester City have a shooting opportunity from the free kick. Tevez strikes the free kick and Jaaskelainen looks comfortable, however the ball dips at the last second and strikes the top of the crossbar. Im sure Jaaskelainen will say he knew exactly what he was doing though!
49′
Bolton fans aren't happy with the referee's failure to award them a penalty in the first half as they ironicly cheer as Mike Jones rewards them a free kick. From the resulting free kick Zat Knight and Kolo Toure both recieve treatment after awkard landings, however both are seemingly ok to continue.
46′
Manchester City get us underway, both sides are unchanged at the start of the half.
45′ +2
HALF TIME. MANCHESTER CITY 1-0 BOLTON WANDERERS. Carlos Tevez's fortunate penalty strike is the difference between the two sides and Bolton will feel very hard done by after they weren't awarded a penalty of their own after a blatent foul on Elmander by Toure. Game is far from over though.
45′ +1
Gareth Barry is harshly judged to have handled the ball on the edge of the box and Bolton have a free kick just 20 yards from goal. However Cohen's low effort is blocked by the well structured City wall.
43′
The ball drops to Wilshere after poor defending from City on the egde of the box, but his scuffed effort goes straight at Given.
39′
A long punt upfield is controlled well by Adebayor who has more time than he realises, but the striker snatches at his effort and drags a right-footed shot wide of the post.
38′
Fabrice Muamba hits a superb half volley from the edge of the box which takes a deflection on its way to the top left hand corner, but the deflection takes some of the pace out of the strike and Given saves well. From the resulting corner Muamba has another effort, but this time blazes his effort well wide of the post.
35′
Bolton feel very hard done by and deservedly so, Kolo Toure gets himself in a mess inside the box and as Elmander lunges for the ball Toure clearly dives infront of the striker blocking his path to the ball. But the decision somehow goes against Elmander and the referee awards the free kick to the home side. A very strange decision from the officials.
31′
GOAL!! TEVEZ!! MANCHESTER CITY 1-0 BOLTON WANDERERS. Carlos Tevez steps up for the penalty with Jaaskelainen standing on one side of the goal, the goalkeepers mind games seem to work as he moves into the middle of his goal and Tevez smashes the ball down the middle, however when you're bottom of the league you don't get the luck of the people at the top. And although Jaaskelainen blocks the ball it spins into the corner of the net to the relief of Tevez and City have the lead against the run of play.
31′
Penalty Goal Carlos Tevez
30′
PENALTY TO MANCHESTER CITY. Absolutely superb wing play from Adam Johnson, the winger tricks his way down the left before completely complexing Bolton defender Robinson with a succession of stepovers, and Robinson clips the former Boro man to concede the penalty.
28′
Wilshere again creates an opening for Bolton and once again Elmander fails to deliver a good final ball. Bolton really need to capitalise on this good spell if they want to take all three points in this game.
23′
Manchester City are really struggling to find any sort of attacking rhythm at the moment with Bolton looking the most likely to break the deadlock. Kevin Davies is causing Kolo Toure all sorts of problems at the back.
20′
Absolutely sublime counter attack football from Bolton Wanderers, and its no surprise that Wilshere is at the heart of it. The Arsenal loanee links up well with Davies and then feeds Elmander down the left, but his cross is cleared by Toure. Good spell from Bolton.
17′
Kevin Davies does what he does best. The big frontman knocks the ball down after a long punt upfield to fellow striker Johan Elmander. Who controls the ball and strikes a left footed effort low towards Shay Givens left hand corner, but the shot drifts inches wide of the post. Given looked to have it covered though.
14′
Very close to one nil Manchester City. Tevez plays a reverse ball down the left to Gareth Barry who drills a low cross that deflects off a Bolton defender and hits the side netting, Jaaskelainen would have been helpless had that been on target.
13′
Game yet to open up yet, but Manchester City are commanding possession, having 69% of the ball so far.
10′
Young Jack Wilshere looks very eager to please tonight and is getting on the ball whenever possible, Bolton will be hoping he can inject a touch of class to their attack tonight.
8′
Good play from Bolton. Lee links up well with Elmander, and the Swede tries to thread the ball through for Lee, but the ball is too heavy and it goes out for a goal-kick. An encouraging sign for Owen Coyle.
7′
Adebayor attempts the spectacular but his overhead kick goes a few feet wide of the post.
6′
Bolton's defence look in for a long night. New signing Adam Johnson cuts the ball back behind Emanuel Adebayor, which lands at the feet of Carlos Tevez, but the Argentine doesn't connect well with his left-footed effort and its an easy save for Jaaskelainen.
3′
Manchester City begin the match on the front foot, Wayne Bridge finds some space on the left hand side and swings in a cross which Bolton goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen fails to deal with. His defence helps him out though and Bolton clear.
1′
Bolton Wanderers get the game underway shooting from right to left in their navy change strip. Manchester City line up in their traditional sky blue. Game on..
The players enter the pitch after a Las Vegas like production with complete darkness all around the stadium except Manchester City's blue moon projected in the heavens of Eastlands. Both sets of players have a lot to live up to after that entrance!
