Decent ball by Figueroa into the United box sees Wigan win a corner. The ball comes in to the near post but Rooney heads clear. The ball then falls to Edman who hits it high and wide much to the delight of the home fans.

Valencia does well to beat N'Zogbia and feed Rooney. The striker then chips the ball to the far post to Berbatov but his header back across goal doesn't find Valencia and simply flies safely into Kirkland's arms.
